I know we are all excited for this release. What I don't know is how many people intend to a) play it on the xbox one and b) would like to join some sort of a formal league here at Race Department.

There are so many possibilities, I've had to calm myself down from getting lost in them. However, my main passion, IndyCar, will probably not be able to be run until the DLC with the ovals comes to the Xbox One.

That said, what sort of series would you like to see? Personally, ones that come to mind are Tudor United Sports Car Series, WEC, British Touring Car, and DTM. One of these could fill the gap for me until IndyCar is possible, but others may have better ideas.

Please indicate below if you are interested and what sort of times you are available and which series' you prefer. We could follow the actual schedule of many a series, due to the timing of the release. Personally, if they get the ovals out before IndyCar starts, I'll probably turn my focus there, but nothing would prevent running another alongside.

The anticipation is killing me!

I know I'm unavailable for the event but as the Algarve isn't a track I'd previously driven had a bash at lapping anyway.

It's very unforgiving with track limits and subsequently I gave up chasing a setup just to concentrate on setting valid lap times.

Best I could scrape in an hour's testing was ~1:48. Hoping the wheel can smooth things out as I'll be permanent back marker...

:( I can only manage a 1:45.5, tires are short lived. I could use some help with my setup.
Me and Spiff will likely be on Saturday Night around 10pm EST for some online practice.
Try using more camber, I found that helped me a lot. It’s a difficult track because there’s high and low downforce areas and lots of undulation which makes getting the right diff setting difficult. I think I’m running about 60 degrees decel and 30 degrees accel.

You better not ban the Ginetta. I'll be very upset

I've gotten to a 1:44.7 in Qually. But it was a one time deal. I've run a practice race but the LF goes off so bad you have to pit midway through. I feel like If I'm not pushing the car I'll be a back-marker and be easily lapped by Haveblue. The main thing is the track limits...I ran a 200k race here a month or two ago and it wasn't that bad, they gave you the Paint on the track, now they don't as soon as you put your tires over the curbing you're asked to slow down or take a multi-second penalty.

The Track

fuji_track.jpg

Fuji Speedway is a motorsport race track standing in the foothills of Mount Fuji, in Oyama, Suntō District, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. It was built in the early 1960s. In the 1980s, Fuji Speedway was used for the FIA World Sportscar Championship and national racing. Originally managed by Mitsubishi Estate Co., Fuji Speedway was acquired by Toyota Motor Corporation in 2000. The circuit hosted the Formula One Japanese Grand Prix in 2007, after an absence of 30 years, replacing the Suzuka Circuit, owned by Honda. After Fuji Speedway hosted the 2008 race, the Japanese Grand Prix returned to Suzuka for the 2009-onward races. Fuji Speedway has one of the longest straights in motorsport tracks, at 1.475 km (0.917 mi) in length. The circuit has FIA Grade 1 license. In 2003 the circuit was closed down to accommodate a major reprofiling of the track, using a new design from Hermann Tilke. The track was reopened on April 10, 2005. The circuit hosted its first Formula One championship event in 29 years on September 30, 2007. In circumstances similar to Fuji's first Grand Prix in 1976, the race was run in heavy rain and mist and the first 19 laps were run under the safety car, in a race won by Lewis Hamilton. The circuit has always hosted the NISMO Festival for historic Nissan racers, since the takeover and refurbishment in 2003, the event took place at TI Circuit. When the festival returned in 2005, the organisers allowed the circuit owner to bring in their Toyota 7 CanAm racer to re-enact the old Japanese GP battle. Toyota also hosts its own historic event a week before the NISMO festival called Toyota Motorsports Festival. Following both poor ticket sales and weather it was decided by FOM that the FIA Japanese Grand Prix would be shared between Fuji Speedway and Suzuka on alternate years with Suzuka holding the next race on Sunday, October 4, 2009. After the global recession and its own operational deficit, Toyota decided to discontinue the hosting of Japanese Grand Prix since 2010.
