Hi

Are you more a Nascar Fan or a Indycar Fan or do you like both at the same level of feelings?
And why? Tell your opinion.

I myself never watched an Indycar or Nascar race in my life.
But this year Iam gone focus my attention on them.

best regards

IndyCar... by far. I use to love NASCAR back in the early 2000s and I use to defend it like mad on the forums.

But after this:

I just cant take NASCAR seriously anymore.

There's still plenty of proper oval racing series like
Sprint Cars:

ARCA:

and IndyCars

But NASCAR? No, NASCAR has too much crap going on at the moment.

I dont wanna ruin that thread by putting an discussion on it.
but: what crap is going on at the nascar racing series?

The move from kyle busch is just ridiculous. But its the driver who did this move it was not nascar.
So what is the problem of that? The driver seems to be a bastard not Nascar(in the clip).
Or is something beyond this?

Sprint cars: Cant stand to watch a race. Iam not ready for this yet.
I just dont like it. Dont know why really must sound like a childish behavior.

Whats the difference between the ARCA and Nascar?
Arca driving on some dirt tracks?

best regards
thanks for you answers so far

It's really the case of NASCAR allowing revenge wrecking and the "boys be boys" hands off rule. Basically NASCAR doesnt penalize or doesn't penalize enough for behavior like this.

Different organizers and different series. They sometimes include 2-3 dirt tracks to the schedule which makes their schedule more interesting than NASCAR.

EDIT: The 2012 ARCA Schedule has 2 clay/dirt ovals and 1 road course while the rest are regular paved ovals

ARCA has 2 dirt tracks and one Road Course (NJMP) on the schedule, as well as some NASCAR tracks (Daytona, Talledega, Pocono) and a few short tracks.

Not a fan of sprints either (except in iRacing).

After some of the moves last year, more penalties have been forthcoming, and in fact Kyle Busch was parked for the weekend and not permitted to run in the Nationwide or NASCAR Cup races that weekend due to the incident in the video above.

So I've been watching Fastlane - Shakedown with Leo Parente.

Apparently, he's not really a popular guy (based on me asking around) with race fans because of his very honest but, at times very controversial, opinions on racing. He's also not afraid to go after specific people, or groups of people for failures of racing.

Basically, I'm asking you guys if you have an opinion of him. If you've never heard of him, let me give you some videos (don't worry they are short lol):

I haven't heard of him. I would like to catch the show since we don't have much here in the U.S. Does it play much on Dailymotion?

Just thought I would share a few pics from today. Such a great event with so many different cars. The event has been going for 21 years now and is a real gem in New Zealand motorsport.

Here are just a few...

The guy found it in Malaysia in terrible condition and has spent the last nine years, 3 trips to Germany and NZ$250,000 (roughly US$200,000) fixing it . The most interesting thing was the suspension. He contacted Bilstein in Germany to get some new shocks, told them he had a Group 5 Escort and they gave him all the data and settings from all the major circuits in Germany from that period. They still had all the data on paper from 35 years ago.

Also have a bit of footage from the epic Formula 5000 cars. The sound of those things is just phenomenal.

I wonder why Nascar has 36 Races. That is impossible. That is just a Season more than normal highclass leagues like F1 oder IZOD.
How did they get 35 races in the calender?

best regards

Nascar is outnumbered by far at this time

Race every week with 2 or 3 off-weeks between the end of February and November. They don't have to fly around the world, just drive the haulers from place to place. That and more races = more tickets and more TV money.

Most teams have between 4 and 10 or more cars, and there are few if any major updates to the cars during a season - the several cars are actually specialized into 'speedway cars' (1 to 2 mile tracks), 'restrictor plate cars' (Daytona/Talledega), 'short track cars' (Richmond, Martinsville, Bristol, maybe Phoenix) and 'road race' (Infineon/Watkins Glen/sometimes Pocono oval) cars. The lesser funded teams will often use cars interchangeably on short tracks and road courses. There are no restrictions on the number of engines per year etc. (changing one during a race weekend will put you at the back however, to discourage qualifying engines).

Prior to 1972, they would race multiple times per week. In 1970 and 1971 there were 46 Cup races. In 1965 there were 53. Starting in 1972 they got rid of a lot of the local short tracks and set the 'modern' schedule with 31 races.
As new 'modern' tracks have been built (and a few retired), the schedule has slowly expanded to the current 36.

This is really tough. I have been going to the Nascar/Indycar/Silvercrown/Midget/Sprintcar races ever since I was about a month old. My dad also worked for an indy car team. But I would have to say I still like Indycar better. I wish it was like it used to be though. No crashing. No washed up drivers. I wish they raced on more ovals, and had better looking cars with more american drivers. I also wish that some drivers would still go through the Midget/Sprintcar/Silvercrown ranks to get there. Bryan Clauson is our last chance lol. I went to Indy last year and I say it would blow away the Daytona 500. Just the track.....how clean and beautiful it is. and the legend of the race. Also the Indy cars from the 1960's through CART of the 1990s were great looking cars. Now their ugly. But I do know another thing. You need Big teabags to go around indy in an indycar as apposed to a stock car. I do hate the mile and a half deal that Indy Car goes too. Mile and a halfs always have bored me, and the cars get way too fast. I wish they would go back here to Phoenix my home track. And Milwaukee, and a few others.
