I don't buy that. Indycar is named after an oval, afterall. I would really like to see a 60/40 or so split Road/Oval. I too want Milwaukee and PIR. Saw my first race ever at PIR (Phoenix) in 1980 and met Gordon Johncock there, so it's a soft spot for me.

I've been going to PIR since I was about a month old and my dad worked on a team there and Indy. I live about 30 minutes away, or less than that.

indy car = road/street cources, 2-3 ovals
NASCAR= Ovals, 2-3 street/road cources

Wow were you guys not fans of CART or something? CART has almost always had a 50/50 oval or atleast a 40/60 and CART was fantastic.

I want atleast a 40/60 oval to road schedue cause the minute IndyCar becomes all road courses is the minute that it will be a sorry GP2 knockoff.

Also, I can agree that flatout ovals are horribly boring but you cant say that ovals like Milwaukee and Loudon are uninteresting. Always fantastic racing there and requires a lot of skill (hense Power struggling at Milwaukee and Loudon last year). BTW, milwaukee is back on the indycar schedule: http://www.indycar.com/news/show/55-izod-indycar-series/51158-milwaukee-indyfest-added-to-schedule/

More ovals like Milwaukee and less ovals like Texas or Fontana please...

According to FOX Sports... Rubens Barrichello has signed with KV for a full Indycar 2012 season: http://www.foxsports.com.br/speed/2319-rubens-barrichello-assina-com-equipe-da-indy

If the official announcements confirms this later this week, Rubens will join Sebastian Bourdais, Takuma Sato, and Justin Wilson (all confirmed earlier this year) as the former F1 drivers to be heading over to IndyCar.

Too bad Robert Doornbos and Enrique Bernoldi both washed out of IndyCar earlier or we could have had 6 former f1 drivers this year.

Oh well... in other news... GP2 runner-up Luca Fillipi is rumored to be going to IndyCar as Sato's teammate next year as well: http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/arti...-in-on-cars-for-luca-filippi-michel-jourdain/

Looks like a great year for IndyCar in 2012. Cant wait for the start of the season. What will be interesting to note is the Dragon Racing group. Cause with Seabass and Katharine Legge, you have one dominant ChampCar driver and a backmarker ChampCar driver in the same team. Will be funny if Legge out performs Seabass ;)

I think indy car is better on road/street cources than on ovals. Same with NASCAR. I like NASCAR more on ovals.

I like to Indy car in loudon, Indianopolis and milwaukee. I just like the street/road cources more because like what you said. It is boring to see the Indycars flatout on ovals

I think one race at Texas is fine. Personally tho, there's a few flat/minimally banked ovals that IndyCar can go to that would ensure that driving the cars there = skill which ofc includes Loudon and Milwaukee.

There's also Gateway, Pocono, Phoenix, Walt Disney Speedway and Richmond. So my perfect oval line up would be:
Indianapolis (ofc...)
Texas
Richmond
Pocono
Loudon
Iowa
Milwaukee
Phoenix
Walt Disney Speedway

So that's 8 ovals already. So 8 or 7 ovals out of a 17-18 race schedule and the rest be road course would be a great schedule for me. Out of all of those ovals only Texas and (if you're car is working properly) Indianapolis are flat out. I think Iowa can be flatout but once you're in the draft you instantly lose all your downforce and you have to lift and even brake a little. So Iowa takes skill to pass (which we saw last year).

They won't go back to Richmond I don't think. I saw the last race there and it really wasn't much of a show. I've also been to NASCAR races there and those tended to be very good (so long as one concedes that 'rubbin is racin'). Just one of those cases where it doesn't work for IndyCars. Pocono would be wild - but I'd be really concerned about the speeds entering T1 or even the tunnel turn.

Start a campaign to bring Nazareth back?

right i agree that the old Dallara would have sucked at Richmond. But these are new chassis which, hopefully, will provide better racing on shorter ovals like Richmond. Speed isn't really the problem with indycars. After all ChampCar had a race at Las Vegas too:

Since the new chassis is apparently much safer than the IR03 i think pocono should be fine. After all, Texas and Fontana are on the schedule

Electrical engine, 375 bhp, topspeed around 256 km/h and an impressive laptime of 7 minutes and 48 seconds.

Say hello to the TMG EV P001!! Only two seconds slower than cars like the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, BMW M3 GTS, Corvette Z06 and Ferrari 599 Fiorano.

Is this automatic racing car fun to drive with out up/down shifting?

Guessing it is working a CVT unit:rolleyes:

No washed up drivers. I wish they raced on more ovals, and had better looking cars with more american drivers.

IDK I think the 2012 IndyCar grid is stronger than it ever was with a lot of really talented driver. Normally I would agree with you that IndyCar tends to have a lot of washed up people but this year is the first year where I think every driver deserves atleast a chance in a top series.

I also like the international line-up that IndyCar has and I dont see that as a problem. The only problem is that Marco and Graham isn't winning consistently

I also wish that some drivers would still go through the Midget/Sprintcar/Silvercrown ranks to get there. Bryan Clauson is our last chance lol. I went to Indy last year and I say it would blow away the Daytona 500. Just the track.....how clean and beautiful it is. and the legend of the race. Also the Indy cars from the 1960's through CART of the 1990s were great looking cars. Now their ugly. But I do know another thing. You need Big teabags to go around indy in an indycar as apposed to a stock car. I do hate the mile and a half deal that Indy Car goes too. Mile and a halfs always have bored me, and the cars get way too fast. I wish they would go back here to Phoenix my home track. And Milwaukee, and a few others.

I have to agree with you there. I originally hated the new IndyCar. But I have to be honest that it's starting to grow on me. After all, IndyCar has always had a history of really weird and occasionally unorthodox (ugly) open wheel cars. Remember this?

Yeah... after looking at the history of IndyCars, the new DW12 doesn't seem that out of place anymore. Milwaukee is back and Phoenix is coming back in 2013. The biggest problem is that no one shows up to these races anymore. So if you want IndyCar to go back to Phoenix and Milwaukee... try to get people to show up to these races ;)

I also want Bryan Clauson to get a full time ride eventually. Would be nice to see some Silver Crown graduates in Indy i agree. But tbh, I'd rather see Bertrand Baguette or Alex Lloyd get a full time ride. I think they have worked harder for an even less reward in IndyCar and these two have proved to be quite talented in poor equipment

I've seen pictures of that car, but I wasn't born then lol. Yeah i'd like to see Lloyd, Clauson, and Baguette in Indy car full time. I'm also happy to see my home track Phoenix coming back! Yeah it feels good! I was at Indy last year, and when Baguette was leading I wanted him to win so bad, but then with 3 laps to go he pulled in! I thought that was stupid. Either you go and win, or you run out of fuel trying.

Agreed but it was nice to see Dan get the win that year. I'm just crossing my fingers to see Causon, Lloyd, or Baguette snatch a full time ride with 4 weeks to go. Not looking likely

But if Rubens gets confirmed officially then i'll be happy either way :)

It just seems to unnatural not hearing the beautiful sounds of internal combustion...Maybe I am alone in this.

I actually thought I was alone in enjoying electric car racing...

I mean... I would prefer combustion engine... but as Leo Parente once said...

"if racing doesn't become as relevant to modern road going cars racing will die. Thus, for the sake of the future, I cannot and will not fear green racing in whatever form it comes. After all, the more modern road going cars become disconnected to performance... the more our modern cars will be rolling toasters."
