There is a year of manufacture on the suit that you buy, 2000 is just the year that the homologation was created. There is no age limit on driver suits homologated according to the 8856-2000 standards. ECE homologation is nothing racing specific. I'd say think of it as a CE homologation of basically anything you buy, but for cars and car parts. The manufacturer says that the product reaches certain standards, nothing more. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=sv&sl=auto&tl=cs&u=http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECE-Homologation

FIA 8856-2000 is basically as good as it gets when it comes to FIA homologation. That doesn't mean that there aren't suits that are better than others, just that they all reach the standard set by the FIA.

I think its the song used in the video. It is copyrighted and has been used without permission. Works fine for me, but people from other countries get this message on youtube.

Really nice cars by the way. Could you share some more details? Which engine do you have in your car and how much does it weigh? Looks really fun!

ill add some pictures once its back from the fabrication shop.. and it about the 450kg/500kg without engine and driver. ill message you my engine spec later.

Humm... and it's a pretty short oval as well, not sure how entretaining an Indy race can be there (I think I've never seen one in 1 mile ovals, i use to follow road races only).

I know back in the C.A.R.T. days , tracks like Milwaukee and Loudon provided some of the best racing you could find. Unlike tracks such as Las Vegas, the short and flat one-mile ovals required lots of skill to drive fast.

They were also much safer as the layout of the tracks tended to prevent cars from racing in packs.

I think it's unfortunate that they can't get better crowds at those locations.

Hi Ondrej, indeed it's not easy to find this information but here's some text snippets from:
APPENDIX L TO THE FIA'S INTERNATIONAL SPORTING CODE: CHAPTER III - DRIVER'S EQUIPMENT

FIA1.png

you can find the full document in this list here: http://www.fia.com/sport/Regulations/sportcoderegs.html

Here's FIA Technical List no.25 as mentioned in 1.1: your Crash helmet needs to comply with one of these standards:

http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-publi...5004FDAD1/$FILE/L25_standards_for_helmets.pdf

Here's FIA Technical list no.27 as mentioned in 2.: A list of currently homologated suits, undergarments and gloves (with brand names). I'm not sure it covers shoes as well though.

http://argent.fia.com/web/fia-publi...312/$FILE/L27_Approved_clothing_materials.pdf

As Emil stated, basically any clothing with 8856-2000 homologation should be fine.

I am unsure if a FHR is needed for your event, but I suppose your co-driver/the car owner will know.

More FIA documents about Driver's equipment here: http://www.fia.com/sport/Regulations/driverequipregs.html

Hope this helps you somewhat and it does not confuse you even more..:D

Also, if the specific suit has an expiry date, it will say so on the suit, next to the homologation date. For example, a suit with this on the back: "2001/11" would have been homologated in 2001, and expire in 2011. My kart suit just bit the dust too lol.

So I've been watching Fastlane - Shakedown with Leo Parente.

Apparently, he's not really a popular guy (based on me asking around) with race fans because of his very honest but, at times very controversial, opinions on racing. He's also not afraid to go after specific people, or groups of people for failures of racing.

Basically, I'm asking you guys if you have an opinion of him. If you've never heard of him, let me give you some videos (don't worry they are short lol):

Alright. I want to go to Le Mans very badly when I grow up. So I had a dream that I was at Le Mans in the Peugeot garage with my suit on looking at the car while the engineers were working on it, and I was talking ot one of the engineers. Last night I fell asleep watching the Daytona 24 hour. I had a dream that I was racing a 24 hour race at Walktins Glen for some reason! lol and I got my team into the lead. I pitted with a driver change. Guess who my teammate was? Scott Pruett haha. So we had a big lead, and I had to just watch on the pit box for the rest of the race. Then Scott did something really stupid and crashed driving straight through some other cars. He walked back to the pits after the race with the steering wheel and we started to argue. Then we took are helmets off and started to fight. He started saying weird things about my mom. I was about to punch him in the mouth, but then I woke up :(
