This week we had Formula 1 and Gp 2 at Spa Francorchamps, Moto Gp at Indianapolis, FIA GT1 at Nurburgring. All races witnessed some exciting fights and dramatic crashes.
Formula 1 Belgian GP
Everyone was expecting Mclarens to be fast on the long straights of Spa Francorchamps and it really happened in the way expected. Lewis Hamilton won the Belgian GP under the unexpected and changing weather conditions.
The race started under dry conditions, but a few laps later rain began. With this rain, bus stop chicane became slippery. So that lots of drivers missed the apex and Barrichello could'nt stop and hit Alonso's Ferrari. So Rubens Barrichello had a bad 300th race of his career.
Another hot moment of the race was the crash of Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button. After a few laps of chasing Button to take the 2nd place, Vettel could'nt brake in time, slided and hit Button's Mclaren. Button's radiator crashed and he retired while Vettel continued to race after a pitstop.
Another title chaser Alonso, had an unlucky race from the the first laps with Barrichello's hit. And after the appearence of the second rain of the race, he spun and hit the barriers. This ended his race.
Lewis Hamilton was the leader of the race from beginning to the finish. He was lucky that he missed the barriers closely after the rain started. He missed the apex and went into the gravels, avoided hitting barriers just by 1 meter or less. Polesitter Mark Webber, which stalled at the start, came behind of Hamilton. Robert Kubica from Renault had a great race for his team and came 3rd.
Now the championship leader is Lewis Hamilton again. He is 3 points ahead of Mark Webber on 2nd place. Button, Vettel and Alonso could'nt score any points. This makes the top 2 drivers Hamilton and Button more possible title nominees.
Grand Prix 2 Belgian GP
The exciting series filled with passionate young drivers had another incidentful weekend at Spa.
The Sprint race was won by the championship leader Pastor Maldonado. At the first lap Sam Bird and Dani Clos crashed. Safety car deployed for 4 laps. Alvaro Parente came 2nd and after some decent fights, Romain Grosjean took the last step of the podium.
The Feature race was more incidentful than the sprint race. The race witnessed three safety cars for accidents - including crashes by Christian Vietoris, Charles Pic and Jules Bianchi. And that was a great race for Barwa Addax Team. The team doubled with Sergio Perez as 1st and van der Garde as 2nd. Alvaro Parente managed to finish on podium again and came 3rd.
With this races, Maldonado extended his lead for 1 more point ahead of Sergio Perez. There is a 27 points gap between them and Maldonado may announce his title at the next race Monza.
Moto Gp Indianapolis
Jorge Lorenzo's closest follower in the championship, Dani Pedrosa won the USA Round of Moto Gp.
Polesitter and homerace rider Ben Spies managed to keep his position at the start. Pedrosa was 4th after the first turn. However Pedrosa's pace was ultimate and he overtook Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso easily. And at Lap 6, he entered to Spies' slipstream and took the lead. After that Pedrosa opened the gap and won an easy victory.
Championship leader Lorenzo fought against Dovizioso for the 3rd place. After 11 laps of chasing, Lorenzo overtook Dovizioso. Dovizioso lost some pace and lost his position to Valentino Rossi aswell.
While chasing Rossi on 4th, Casey Stoner fell down and retired at lap 7. Marco Melandri, Colin Edwards and Mike Kallio are the other retired drivers of the race.
With this race, Lorenzo-Pedrosa gap decreased to 68 points. Lorenzo is coming closer to title with race by race.
FIA GT 1 Nurburgring
Aston Martin drivers Darren Turner and Tomas Enge had a fantastic victory at GT 1 Series' Nurburgring Round. Young Driver AMR Duo led the whole race other than pitstop periods.
Turner was the starting driver of the car and opened a decent gap with others quickly. He gave the seat to Enge with a 12 seconds advantage.
Behind them Reiter Team with Lamborghini Murcielago came 2nd. Reiter's drivers were Peter Kox and Christopher Haase. First half was driven by Kox and Reiter was behind of Phoenix Racing Corvette driven by Marc Hennerici. But with a quicker pitstop, they took the 2nd.
3rd place went to Phoenix Racing/Carsport team driven by Marc Hennerici and Alexandros Margaritis.
All-Inkl.com Münnich Motorsport's Lamborghini driver Dominik Schwager crashed on Lap 26. Other than All-Inkl.com Münnich Motorsport, all teams finished the race.
