AC Multiclass Abarth 500/Mazda MX5@ Meadowdale Raceway, Wed 26th April 2023

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
I actually thought of you on Sunday while taking an Autobahn trip to visit a friend.

Going straight for extended periods of time with a high rate of speed, guess what?

It was boring :(

Just once I want to float majestically by our chief Rotter Allan, sailing off into the distance.
Unfortunately it is corners than make this virtually impossible for me, Even Le Mans with chicanes will not allow that. I may Majestically float by on the straight, he will then go past me on the last bend, my shoulder will droop, knowing that a digital pair of finger will appear out of the Mazda.
I have been racing Allan in Mazdas since 2017, that is six years of humiliation, a man can only take so much.:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Admittedly In desperation I have disguised my Mazda as a Abarth..

Han´s concept of a "once a week/ arrive and drive series" has failed spectacurlarly. :(
Which is in no way Han´s fault, who could have known which level of dedication (desperation :O_o:) some people pour into these events
Indeed true. But with the full grids I have no problem with this. Sure, I get a little frustrated at times going down to the backmarkers, but I like seeing the progression of relatively new guys and how some of the regulars are being pulled up with them. So in these events it is fun for every driver, regardless of their skills and the time they want to put into it.

I therefore regard this formula as a success and I am happy with it.

As long as the numbers continue to reach 20+ and the posts in the threads remain positive I will continue these events on Wednesdays with some new elements every now and then (24h format).

Wonder if we should consider a bit of bop based on past performance?

It's personally more fun to battle with an evenly matched car rather than plod around on my own. I'm guessing even the fast guys would appreciate a decent race rather than a cruise?

It would avoid the aliens having to start at the back as they would have there bop matched to their performance.

The rookies would also have a good race as they'd obviously have no bop.

Is this a mad idea or does it have legs?
I'm going off my own idea here!

It's more work for Han and I can imagine the moaning that would go on if someone was unhappy with the bop.

So please leave it as it is and forget I ever mentioned it.

Plus, I have a decent time on this track so certainly don't want any bop thank you ;)

Simon,

except for the "Frigging Aliens" Simracing is not very intuitiv, you need knowledge (and of course to put in the hours.)

So doing the same all over again does't make you faster but only ingrains bad habits.

Have you" hitched a ride" with a faster driver to get some pointers where to improve?

I am still learning setup changes. I am usually within 4 seconds quali, but thats a lot.

Its not often I see other drivers on practice server as I am in Canada. Also in VR and my seat mover does not move on board another car, makes me sick.

Han, i think these races do exactly what you set out to achieve. I no longer take my practice too seriously as i will soon get the lines together on the day. Heck, i dont even worry about my lap times any more as it all sorts its self out anyway. I have around 40 track setups to choose from and now just basically 'turn up' click a few buttons, follow Robert around for a couple of laps, get the correct lines from him, start the race and finish near the back saying i must make more effort in future. All good fun and on my part, not taken too seriously.

Chaps! I have an event tomorrow night so I will be skipping this week's race... and next week's as well because I expect to be then at Disneyland Paris with my daughter, trying to score some free lightsabers at the Imperial Parade on the 4th. :D

Have fun at the races lads, and if someone can share the replay or highlights, that would be grand.
