AC Multiclass Abarth 500/Mazda MX5@ Meadowdale Raceway, Wed 26th April 2023

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Are you in the Mazda? If so (and I'm no expert) my personal set up check list generally is tire psi, camber, abr and fuel

Psi you know (I use the pro tyres app)

Camber more or less grip on the corners. I use the camber extravaganza app to help, but you can also listen for tire squeal. If you're turning and you hear tire noises, add more camber. I usually up the negative camber on the default set up both front and rear.

Then abr, I usually only move the rear down to 0 and leave the front at 3. 0 in the rear makes the car a little looser. I find 1 to be too tight for my driving style ie, turn to quick and the rear slides out in a way that I can't catch the same if it's set to 0. But for some tracks, you may want you car a little more "pointy" (2 front - 0 rear for example). It's an easy setting to feel the difference in the car on the first test lap.

Then fuel with these races I go 22L + 1L pit stop

Hope that helps a little :)

For Silver City I experimented with three different setup styles especially ride height and damper setup.

After three laps my laptimes always converged into the same second.

The Setups felt different to drive, but didn't make a big difference in laptime.

So if the car is nice to drive start working on your lines

Happy Hunting Carsten

Hi Colin, i have read that in the forum plus i already have been using the CSP FFB tweaks with my old wheel. There is so many sliders to play with on the app and they all interact with each other. There is no good time to make the swop if you are racing on a weekly basis. Raced open wheelers last night and spun on every lap despite setting the car up earlier in the week, finished 2 laps down. Realised after that my wheel was not synced to the car. So called experts on the tube said it needs to be 1080 deg and not the 900 it should be so sort of on ones own really. It is starting to come together i think.

silly me of course, we need some help....................

I will straighten this bleeding track out.

To be honest I'm still not sure which car to take...
I really want to go with the Abarth, but it just seems easier to make a better time with the Mazda for me. And that understeer is really messing with my head.

I'll continue to practice and adjust the set-ups of both until Wednesday, then I'll make a last minute decision and register in Emperor.

I tried it (Abarth) for one lap and then bailed straight out, I did not have a good time :D

Aside from the super quick guys, it's all looking very competitive here. I'm quickly beginning to realise this track is all about momentum and building it through the lap, even one tiny disruption can cost chunks of time. As straightforward as the track looks, it requires a lot of concentration - well at least from me :roflmao:

Not only for you ;)

Han´s concept of a "once a week/ arrive and drive series" has failed spectacurlarly. :(
Which is in no way Han´s fault, who could have known which level of dedication (desperation :O_o:) some people pour into these events (definitely NOT looking into the mirror right now )

And it´s also all our fault when rumours of fair and orderly racing attract "frigging aliens" from all corners of Racedepartment :geek:

MFG Carsten

Wonder if we should consider a bit of bop based on past performance?

It's personally more fun to battle with an evenly matched car rather than plod around on my own. I'm guessing even the fast guys would appreciate a decent race rather than a cruise?

It would avoid the aliens having to start at the back as they would have there bop matched to their performance.

The rookies would also have a good race as they'd obviously have no bop.

Is this a mad idea or does it have legs?

I think is not good idea, one of highlights of race is waiting when Fulvio is trying pass by and try to slow him down as much as possible...usually without success but still. :)

I would leave that as an individual choice for those that want to forcefully put themselves in the middle of the field to battle it out without having to hold off on purpose.

Personally I do like to see the lap times these aliens are able to pull off, it goes to show how far I am from what is humanly possible and that there is always room for improvement.

As long as we don't reach the maximum capacity for the events I would say there is room for everyone and every skill level.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention something which makes a big difference: for me I don't really care about my position on the grid. What I care about are my lap times and improving them, so in essence I am racing against myself. Having others on track at the same time is a plus which can actually push me above my limits - sometimes with catastrophic results :roflmao:.
For those that do race for podiums I can understand they might want to bring along some change.
