Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
@Douglas Aird:

No, you will not, you're fast enough

Im using Z1 Analyzer, but some people here dabble in Motec which is free.

I found 25€ for Z1 reasonable, I would have had to put more than that into the swear jar while trying to install and configure Motec.

Its a bit clunky but has reasonably fast support by Russel.

More later, I'm now heading into work (again)

Carsten

Thanks Carsten, kind of you to say so but I'm not fast enough yet.

I have to decide if practicing or analysing then practicing is the best use of my time.

Can you analyse other people's laps, too, maybe post race?

Someone could post a motec file of a fast lap and you could compare that way - assuming you have a motec lap also,

If they don't have motec then it's possible to generate one from their replay file but its a bit hit and miss.

Best is to have a fast lap motec file and a replay of the lap so you can see what's going on.

For the Mazda this circuit only really had three corners - so bugger any of those up and the lap is ruined.

I can post a 1:53.601 motec file if it's any use but I don't have the replay.

Thanks Colin, I will wait until I have a bit more time to go down that rabbit hole.

It can be a very useful tool as it can indicate where you lose the most time and where to concentrate the effort.

Once the data logging is setup (mine is on all the time) then it only take a few seconds to load the data file and compare the trace with another lap. You can obviously go as deep as you want but I concentrate on the delta around the lap .

So, a bit of investment in time soon pays back.

I would need to sit in with a top F1 data analyst, watching me race and then discussing over an very extended period of time the "ins and outs" of not only my driving but more importantly which squiggles mean what and how much attention should I put on them, all WRT Assetto Corsa. Needless to say, that is not going to happen this side of a lottery win or some sort of equivalent luck.

My point is I use MoTeC quite a lot, do I need it, NO, I just use it some times to monitor how I put my inputs of brake and accelerator, tyre temps averaged over a whole lap and max speed. I sometimes look at damper responses both fast and slow, traction control interrupts, never abs.
Now I am struggling, spent too much time investigating Wiggles only to find it pointless.
You really need to understand how the software physics is structured to be able then to relate that to your MoTeC with any meaning, in the end, it is just a hobby.

If I could find someone to go through it all, that would be a massive time-consuming process, but most enjoyable. I am too much of an idiot to tackle that by myself.

So I would advise anyone to use MoTeC, but with the above proviso.

Mess up the wrong corner here and your current and next lap are ruined :laugh:

Deceptively hard track yesterday, felt like I was driving in molasses. Managed to nab some spots by staying on track with my mediocre pace despite some intense pressure from Han and Bourke  shame about that warping earlier in the race Doug. You had the pace over me here

On the topic of motec, I don't use it, but if I remember, @Interslice Brian I think, created an RD motec discord group. Can try to find the link when I'm back on my computer.

In practice I drive with half an eye on the delta to get an idea of what makes me faster or slower.

I'll maybe look at Motec, etc if you guys are, anything to get faster. :)
