Hi,

How can we mod the driving camera so we can use the cinematic trackside angle (as used in replays). While driving?

Can any one tell me how to change the Helmet Images in b_nonpersistent.pssg file, I have a collection of 2012 and 13 helmets. but i don't know how to make them visible in the menu.
Thanx in advance
Harsha

It would take some work. You would have to export all of the helmets_0 to helmets_13 files out of the b-nonpersistent.pssg and then import the correct pictures to replace them. You can't just import the helmets files from 2012 either as the structure is different, so the pics of the helmets will all be in the wrong place.

You would have to do it manually, by changing the pictures of the helmets (editing the helmet (1 to 13 files) in photoshop to the correct ones and then re-import them into the b_nonpersistent file. As I said, it's a lot of work.

You can't just install a modded helmet pack from 2012 for example with either an imported b_nonpersistent file or by importing the helmet files from the 2012 pack into your current b_nonpersistent, because the pictures won't be in the correct place due to the file structure being different in 2013. The helmets will all still be there in the game, but the pics will be wrong. For example the picture of helmet 23 would actually be (i think) the gen_25 file, not the gen_23, so you might have a picture of a mclaren helmet but the file is a ferrari one.

If you dont want to go to the bother of changing every pic then the only way to work out which helmet you want to use in the game is to open the gen_tex files in the bespoke helmets folder, find the one you want to use and then pick the same number helmet in the game menu (for example the gen_19_tex files will be the same helmet as 'helmet 19' in the game, even though the in_game pic is wrong).

Pretty tired just now, so I hope that makes sense.

Ok thank you mate for the long reply.

I know this is a fairly generic question and has probably been asked/answered before but I couldn't find anything on it. Please also bear in mind I've never done anything like this before...

So basically, I have heard that the teams are ranked in some sort of tier system? And so I was looking at altering them to be more realistic e.g. red bull as tier 1 and merc, lotus and ferrari as tier 2 etc.

Would also like to look at the drivers but I'm even less sure what the deal is with them.

How do I go about this? And what files/programs do I need?

Any help appreciated. :)

Howdy, just asking again as my original question seemed to get lost in the wop-wops.... :whistling:

Has anyone discovered where the loading screen images are kept? If so, are they mod-able?

Cheers

First off you need the EGO database editor (thankyou Petar Tasev!). It can be found here:
http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/ego-database-editor.75377/

Open the database with the editor and then scroll down the left hand column until you see 'f1teams'. Double click on that. Scroll across and the tier segment is on the right hand side.

Various perameters for the drivers can be found by double clicking the ai_driver section.

I'm trying to change driver's photo card in the b_nonpersistent.pssg from frondend folder but the photos wont appear in game what am i doing wrong?

Can someone tell me what software is used to view or render helmets? Coz I really want to edit the helmets preview images in the driver's profile

I don't know if this had been asked for how many times and I give my apologies but I'm not really browsing the modding-questions-thread

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the reply, very helpful. Does the virtual_performance relate to how fast the cars/drivers are? Is it only for career or can I test changes in grand prix mode also for both ai and teams.

Hello everyone, I downloaded a mod to lower the GRIP and make the game more realistic and I think this works well, but I would like to lower it a bit more, the file to edit is this surface_materials.xml, but 'I do not know if the values you have to lower them or increase them. THANKS sorry for my bad Inglese.
