PC1 Latest Build testing.

Andy_J

I hate Race cheats ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
As you all know, Ian gave me a free pass to test the latest builds and that's what I have been doing for the last week. I will report here as and when I see fit to tell all about my findings.

But I will say that the latest build (296) is quite good. Now lets make some sense of my statement. I used a Lotus 98T in helmet cam using my antique MOMO red wheel and I can honestly report it is coming along much better than I anticipated. The actual feel and immersion is damn fine at this point. The handling is strange at first compared to say...RF2 and FVA, but it grows on you within minutes. At this point in time, this actual car feels good. I like it and I love the Milan circuit. The damage model has come on leaps and bounds.

I am doing some more testing all of next week using a G27 and I will also test some of the other cars that don't interest me as much (I am a F1 nut) and see how the feel in comparison to Shift 2, because that is what I was initially comparing PCars to.

I would like the replay function to have a directors mode though. Something that jumps from action to action and from car to car.

Aside from that, the replay's do crash my PC quite often but I understand that is being looked at.

Watch this space.

Ok, back on topic, @Fabrizio Corona you have convinced me, pCARS is utter crap.

I am going to have to disagree with you William. Pcars is not utter crap. It is actually quite good, but as I stated earlier, it just doesn't match up to AC, GSCE or even Race 7 at this present time as far as my opinion informs me.
I am hoping that later builds improve greatly and the stability also gets better. It has promise. If only they could sort out the FFB.

Merry xmas.

1. I never said pCARS itself is crap, i was talking about the FFB, maybe less time copy-pasting quotes from wikipedia articles and more actual reading will help you understand better ?
2. I am not "upset" about the completely useless and off-topic wikipedia quote you posted.
3. Why would i try to convince an pCARS investor/shareholder that the game is bad ? He should know that by now.

I don't know if this will help some of you ,but I'm here to try to help if possible , Wheel t500rs try settings on Eifelwald with BMW 4 GT3 , i use this track and car combo first because I find it easier to tweak on other cars and tracks ,---- if it helps great --.
I was always hoping that the settings for ffb and car setup would have being simplified like gsc or rf2 but hay ill live with it :)

For open wheelers crank up the master scale to at least 90 or more .

The most important setting for me was these two FX Scale and FY Scale ,Use FX Smoothing if your wheel is rattling , i really hope some of you can feel what I'm getting .
I hope this is a positive post .

Thanks @Joe Moore , I forgot about the car FFB settings. Those really help to tailor the feel, the Z4 GT3 felt great on Nordschleife!

Cheers , the default FFB is not very good -- I don't like it at all ---- and I can understand when some people get so pissed-off because the feeling is none existent , also they don't want to be hours and hours trying to get it to the way they feel it should be , also there are little arrows on the menu that are not highlighted can be missed so easy , and if you click them there are even more FFB settings to play with .

When its good at default, hopefully all will be better. But I ain't spending hours trying to dial FFB in. I did try some of the settings, all to no avail. It felt worse than Shift 2.

Here are some tips to make Pcars feel better or worse depending on driver. :)

1. Try different wheel profiles because there is difference how they feel and work. I have Thrustmaster TX but sometimes I use Fanatec CSW V2 profile.
2. Remember to max out the FFB strength in options->controls->configuration: force feedback
3. Adjust the "Tire Force" settings in controls->Calibrate Force Feedback page if the wheel feels heavy or light
4. Try different cars. GT3 cars like Aston Martin have quite damped and uninformative FFB but Audi R18 TDI feels very different.
5. Try different tracks. Watkins Glen is quite bumpy but some other track are much smoother so you get less "feedback".
6. Download Jack Spades custom FFB settings in Pcars forum (Pcars-Game Controllers->Custom FFB Tweaking files) and adjust specially the SpindleMasterScale and SopScale settings .

Pcars can be quite hit and miss depending on car, track and wheel settings. Hopefully SMS releases demo before March so that everyone can test it to find out if they like it or not.
Its always great to read other peoples opinions about the game but in the end your own opinion is the only one that really matters. :)

I think that AC and rF2 has better FFB and more realistics driving experience but Pcars has narrowed the gap greatly in last 8 months. SMS still have much work to fix the bugs and polish the game.

Don't bother helping him, he doesn't even have access to the WMD forum.
correct, i only have ascess to this build. i dont share it or make a mission of announcing it to the world, but since it seems it might matter to some, ive pre-purchased the game but was way too late to get into alpha/beta level access. im just a sim supporter who wants the game to succeed, already put what $ i can towards that purpose & if someone could privately or w/e send the files id appreciate it bc i already really enjoy the alpha build i have but FFB is the most noticeable issue for me.

apparently not in your eyes; i can give you a polite but meaningless apology or we can debate for several hours & en d up nowhere. this a pointless debate to have thats going to go nowhere good fast, so again, if anyone wants to just go out of yr way to zip the files & give me a link id really appreciate it, as im somewhat surprised to be finding myself enjoying it as much as i am, & these sound like they'd be worth a shot at improving my only major issue thus far.

if not, i have zero interest in debating something thats only actually tangential to my point, & that has been & will be debated by far more knowloedgeable & smarter ppl than i. hope you have a nice NYD! :)
