Circuit Park Zandvoort due in 2010

iRacing will soon add The Netherlands’ Circuit Park Zandvoort to its burgeoning catalogue of race tracks. Data collection of the historic seaside circuit will begin this summer with finished versions expected to be available on the service in early 2010.

The former home of the Dutch Grand Prix, Zandvoort ranks among Europe’s classic racing venues, with a roll call of winners that includes names like Fangio, Clark, Stewart, Lauda and Andretti. The track was also the site of BRM’s first F1 success and the legendary Ford-Cosworth DFV engine’s win in its 1967 debut. More recently, Zandvoort has hosted DTM events as well as the RTL Masters Formula 3 race which, along with the Monaco and Macau F3 races, is a leading international showcase for aspiring F1 drivers.

With last month’s announcement that Brand Hatch and Oulton Park will join Silverstone in the iRacing service, the addition of Zandvoort underscores iRacing.com’s international scope. Additional international venues – along with some new North American tracks – are expected be announced in the coming months.

I don't get the requests for the Nordschleife - great track to drive on, yes, but it doesn't 'fit' in iR's racing structure IMO; a structure that promotes the idea of taking time to learn and hone your skills on that particular week's track before even thinking of racing it. Most races I've had on the Ring in other sims have come down to who crashes least.

My personal wishlist has largely been fulfilled by Brands and Oulton, but in addition to those I'd put Spa at the top of the list (despite the fact that the lower classes of racing wouldn't fit there very well) followed by Donington, and Imola.

That's the main reason why I would like it - its fun on Evo but the cars on iRacing are a lot more fun to drive. It wouldn't work too well in races, but time trials and practice sessions would be fine. Let me put it this way - I know you would be up for a few laps around there in a Skippy or the Mazda, just for comical value if nothing else :p

I would prefer if they brought some other tracks out first though, Spa and Donington are the 2 I would really like, but your suggestion of Imola is good aswell. Bathurst would be a great addition considering there is a good number of Aus/NZ members - new servers in Australia too. Would also like to see Varano (with the Jetta :D) and Suzuka/Twin Ring Motegi.

Zandvoort classic version? That one is simply incredible with the track sweeping thru the dunes and coastline, hmm... Will this be the moment to buy i.... (naah, not yet)

It will only be the current version. It's highly unlikely that they would be adding any non-laser-scanned tracks to the game at this point.
