Obviously if the facts had been known at the time then it wouldn't have been published, don't make out we were complicit, it was a mistake, unless you're mister perfect then I suppose you've made some before now.

RD explicitely said their newsitem was legit, true, factual and that we just had to trust their sources. Don't play the game as if it wasn't now, it will only hit you harder as a site.

That's the point. You post things as facts when you can't know if they're true or not. You also slandered Michael Andretti by outright lying about him saying he was as fast as Senna.

Quote from his interview 15th August 2015 "“But again, I was being compared to the best, and a lot of the time when we were testing, I would be right on pace with him and that made me feel good."

Gateway, schmateway. I'm gonna test first, then rant/praise. (Your mileage may vary)
lol

Couldn't you just yell Ginetta's......GINETTA'S!!!!!!! once again ? :rolleyes::geek:
The day of most infamous posts. :alien:

this. :giggle:

Nice pic btw. :whistling:
You probably just forgot "work in progres" watermark.
Nah, it's not render, who yelled that, c'mon guys... that's not nice.

The most interesting part is "the technology behind GTR3, will eventually be coming to RaceRoom".
We've known that for a long time, though.

Remember how R3E had native rain support? Yeah that sure went well didn't it?
This again? Seriously? So just to repeat the facts once again - there was quite a few things that Raceroom at least in theory featured back when it started. Then, due to the game originally intended to be quite different than what it is today and serve very different purposes, these things were removed during the development, and later, when the direction of the game changed once again and it started evolving into the sim we have today, it became increasingly difficult to add those things back as the underlying code has changed a lot in the meantime.

The title of the piece stated that Andretti said he was as fast as Senna, not that he was sometimes at that pace in testing.

But you accomplished what you had set out to do -- getting a lot of attention by lying to people.

It's a headline, the same thing as newspapers use, and just like a paper the article gave the full interview.
Considering the number of articles posted on RD I find it ridiculous that the odd mistake means that you and some others suddenly find all these faults and bang on about how we're the bad guys.

It's not about the interview but the articles that were launched from one single tweet that had no source backing, yet was claimed by every RD staff as factual, confirmed at the highest level.

And what you find ridiculous is a personal opinion, doesn't mean others agree with it.

Yeah, sorry RD owns some responsibility for publishing the first story based on only a tweet. Publishing this story without owning up to being duped only deepens the hole they dug themselves.

In a quest to grab headlines, they latched on to a tweet from an employee who works for a company with a history of misleading statements and deliverables. You're getting some heat for it now and it's well deserved.

And what you find ridiculous is a personal opinion, doesn't mean others agree with it.
So you think it's fair that for all the good articles on here we get castigated for what was an honest error, do you think for a minute we are happy about how it played out. The disproportionate response is what I find ridiculous coupled with the implication that we deliberately set out to deceive people.

Not sure how about others, but personally when f.e. 3 great titles comes out all together in one quarter, I'll buy them all. Especially when it is about simracing :)
And doesn't matter that I currently race 90% in one sim and 10% in all others. When you like simracing, it is impossible to NOT own everything like AC,Automobilista,R3E,RF2,Pcars2,Dirt Rally... I can enjoy all the titles all together with arcade racing games and even I am not rich, I always find funds for this kind of software. It is not like NFS 5,6,7,8,9, or COD... You buy sim racing title like one of the above and it keeps "current" for years! And there is not much titles like those so any new simracing title very appreciated! Bring it on Q2 ;o)

This thread is a joke. The interview is very good but the reply... The reply are very insulting for RD. Paul do a great work for us with his interview . Please @Kenny Paton, close the thread. Ps : RaceDepartment is not the only website to write an article about the Catalyst tweet.

Exclusive: GTR3 Interview
https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/exclusive-gtr3-interview.158617/

To be fair, while I absolutely believe there were no ill intentions from RD's side, I do think this whole thing starting with the Catalyst tweet wasn't handled the best (though I obviously know very little of what actually happened in the background, as none of us except for perhaps the staff do) and there are certainly some lessons that RD should take away from this. Because at least from the outside, it *does* seem like there were some critical mistakes being made on RD's side, if perhaps motivated just by sheer enthusiasm and a bit too much trust perhaps, and I think RD's credibility did suffer as a consequence. Which is a shame, because there's obviously a lot of hard work being put into the news by Paul (and others).

I think RD deserve a bit of slack here. They provide us with what is usually great news content, but more importantly a place, and perhaps the only place, where we can all indulge our passion for sim racing. Let's not forget how quickly our communities can just disappear down the toilet. (RSC, No Grip, VirtualR)

Maybe GTR3 coverage wasn't up to their usual standards, but I don't think a flogging is merited.
