AC GT3 @ Monza - Sunday 7th February 2021

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Hi Omar. Been wanting to ask this question regarding the ultra wide. With 21:9 aspect ratio, do you actually see more of the sides or is it just stretched out more? Thx
You see more!
Most games can support any resolution. The graphics card has to work more, since you actually see more.

Don't confuse it with a higher resolution on a monitor with the same size though. That only means a "finer" picture quality but you don't see more! (most advertisements of higher resolution monitors tell you that you'd gain monitor area. That's only correct if you make things smaller (they stay sharp when they are smaller))

*edit - got Stefan confused with Axel*

Hey guys. Last night I was online with Stefan (random2k4,) and with a little coaching and some tweaks to setup (with help from Stefan) I was able to beat my own lap record at Monza by over 1s. I was told I can upload the replay so others can watch and give tips, but I don't know how to upload to YouTube. Wouldn't I need to convert the replay to another format first?

**I'M SO SORRY STEFAN** :(
You need to record the replay with a screencapture program. I do it with the windows gamebar recorder. hotkeys are alt + windows + r i think.

Thank you Rasmus. I’m running a Pixel 32” 144hz. For a reasonable priced monitor it works well. Be nice to see more. The 34” ultra I think is same height as a 27”. They can get pricey if larger.

Always shocked at your temps @Chris Down
I must be doing or looking at something in the wrong way.
tried to mimic your results, no-load.:O_o:

Hello Mark, actually I wrote that as I also run on console I had to give up on the ultrawide and stick to a 16:9 ratio :) (because I didn't want a stretched image nor black borders at the monitor's edges)
However @RasmusP perfectly explained the reason why in an ultrawide you see more than in a standard monitor while keeping the image proportions realistic (i.e. not stretched)

If anybody is interested, I just found that they are actually racing at Monza at the end of April the GT Sprint race (that's us basically!) Of the Italian Gran Turismo.

Monza is too far from where I live and I won't be there (been 15 years ago for the superbike championship), however this year I plan to be at Imola and at least another one between Misano and Mugello.
I've been at Imola in 2020 and despite the event was closed to the viewers because of the pandemic, there's a public park where you could go and have a good view of part of the track in quite an interesting spot. I could only go in the afternoon and I missed the GTs (just saw a couple along the main straight but the session finished as I parked at 12.30) but this year I'm not going to miss 'em. I also took some photos of the event.
A colleague of mine is a marshal of the circuit and I love hearing stories from people directly involved in the track activities!

I assume we're going to race also there sooner or later :)

Add hyperthreading and 4 more cores and you'll see temperatures going nuts :p
You have 6 cores, 6 threads, Chris has 10 cores, 20 threads :barefoot:

The 9600k of my best mate at 5 GHz runs quite a bit cooler than my 10600k at 4.9 GHz.
The power consumption is linear to that though.

You should do some prime 95 small FFT again and monitor the maximum watts shown in hwinfo :p

Hmm, what's your concern? Your temps look great, and that's a great voltage for 5ghz :)
Classic Intel 10th Gen user.
With my 2600k I was like "oh no my cpu is going slightly over 70°c! I need a better cooler and a better case!"

Now I have the better cooler and the better case and my 10600k just laughs at it and shoots into the low 80's when I dare to do anything other than checking mails and watching a video...

Laptops are great to maintain calm over this though. German overclocker der8auer frequently says "laptops are designed to run into their temperature limit and then manage boost clock and fan speed at that steady temp."
Which is between 90-100°c!

My first time uploading a video to TubeYou, so please forgive me if I've done it wrong. The fast lap starts around 2:25 if you want to skip the outlap.

Lap record (with outlap)

Congratulation on such a good lap. I couldn't get better than a 1.51 high, tomorrow I plan to practice another couple of hours to make some tests with other cars and different setups. Yesterday I tried the Audi and got a 1.51.7xx after few laps, I was astoni6 at how "fast" I've been with a car I've been driving for just a few laps. It was so stable in corners! I then tried to sightly modify the setup and to my dismal, I noticed that the low downforce setting I assumed I set had not been loaded and I made that time with the default R8 setup (and that's why I didn't get past 5th gear on the main straight). Now I can't understand if that was a good time or not, given it had so much downforce.. :(
By the way, were you (and all you guys) running softs or medium? I am trying just mediums to try them for this race

Thanks mate!
I did all this and I might have gotten it stable but without vr there's really no need for 5% improvement for me and I just accepted that my cpu has this "soft limit".
At 4.9 GHz it runs cool with low voltage, all the power saving stuff active etc etc.

No need to squeeze it to 5.0 or 5.1. I limit my fps to 95 anyway on my 100 hz gsync monitor so I really can't see any drops when they happen at race starts for example :)

Your energy expenses are ridiculously low compared to mine

Tyres depend on the car. With the audi r8 I always drove mediums. The softs can be okay for one lap but you need to be very careful through the corners on them...
With mediums you can drive normally :)

With the Ferrari and McLaren, softs are a good option most of the time!

The Porsche melts the rear Tyres so definitely no softs on that one...

About downforce: with the Ferrari I drove 1 and 5 or 1 and 6 for the last races.
Yesterday I tried 0/3 and I was just sliding all over the place. Yeah, 10 km/h faster on the main straight but everywhere else I was a lot slower with zero confidence.

So now I'm using 1/4, which is basically what I was using for all other tracks...

Mediums probably won't heat high enough to have decent grip
