I am seeing your MINI at a level 9 on the RaceNet Club page. This means you only have to get to 16 to have all the tuning options available. You have most available now.

So, you have to race your actual owned car in online races to increase the XP level. At the lower levels, this is done lightening fast, as you can see. Once you get a little highers into the 20s or so, it gets slower, but by then you have all the tuning options open anyway. All you get from 16 on is the ability to tune them more finely, but that's not really a big deal with the diff, suspension, and downforce. You have to pay to "unlock" these tuning packs and if you go into your car's tuning section, look to the left of each adjustment and you will see some hash marks. I think there are four. They are small. If any are red, then you have earned enough XP to buy a tuning upgrade for that tuning piece.

Hope that helps.

It looks like we will not be getting out own separate section and moderation rights for same. So, all postings for races, times, signups, and results will have to be done in a single thread going forward. It's going to get rather long, but we will have to simply rely on alerts and tagging and go tot he last page for current info.

RD Staff will have to moderate any content that is inappropriate, but hopefully we will not have a problem there.

We have created a new livery!

For members of the "Race Departmnt X" or "RDX" Club (those on the xbox and signed up or interested in league play)

Invites are pending for:
1. @Chris Hempsall
2. @Coach Kernzy
3. @Alexander Hellwig (I think) (BTW, Alex, love to have you in the league).

Go To:
https://racenet.codemasters.com/grid-autosport/club/87/race-departmnt-x

And then accept the invitation. Then you can link your Gamertag on GRID A/S to Race Department

So, whenever you run an online race (not a league race) be sure to with your Race Club livery. It will be a way to level up the club so we can challenge other clubs in the top tiers. And for bragging rights too.

Plus, you can see all sorts of stats on the website, like who is at what level, and details about their race stats and cars.

I am a bit lost here, can you help please. I ve send a request to join via racenet which is pending. I ve tried to look at some invite but i do not see any. Can you point me in the right directon please?

Well as you know Pete we did some pretty extensive testing at the weekend and I have settled on:

Steering Deadzone 0%
Steering Saturation 75%
Steering Linearity -Whatever default is
Throttle Deadzone 0%
Throttle Saturation 65%
Brake Deadzone 0%
Brake Saturation 80%

Absolutely. We can run some money events and you can have a flashback in case you hit the wall, then see how it works.
Had a nice hour or so on tonight Robert, just got myself stuck into the challenges again. Boy I actually love those Tuner cars, didn't get them at all when I tried them for the first time the other day but had a blast on my one attempt tonight. Not the fastest cars you can drive but masses of fun

Cheers Chris, had an hour on the game tonight and really struggled to get something that I'm comfortable with in the open wheelers. Just didn't feel right. Not bad in the other formats I tried but the Lola I tried tonight in the challenge at Red Bull Ring had several issues for me.

Steering is off, I'm sure some of it is because of that damn dead zone being too much at 5% and not enough at 0%. Messed around with the linearity again to try to get it right and reached a compromise but still not really happy with it.

I'll try your saturation next time I'm on, maybe that's part of the problem for me.

The throttle was also quite odd, on the exit of the slower corners all would be fine in the initial phase of the throttle but then wheelspin would start to kick in about a quarter or third of the way to full throttle and the backend would try to snap away needing some correcting.

Thanks Robert, but your XP level is showing in the double digit thousands, that's what I am confused about. I assumed I should show something by now after those races we did the other night.

Yeah I agree with what you say Robert, would really have liked the better organised way of doing things but it is what it is and putting all that stuff here is the best alternative.

Maybe we can just highlight the header post of each category as below:

SIGNUP - Race one - Red Bull Ring

Results - Race one - Red Bull Ring

or something similar so it stands out from the rest. We need some way of making it clear and not getting lost.

The open wheel challenge proved tough though. Just can't get the wheel and pedals feeling right in these at the moment. Steering is still off at the centre leading to too much inaccuracy and the throttle is not right, giving wheelspin part way through the throttle phase when exciting slow corners and causing the back to try to get away.

Think you were right in your initial view on the open wheelers in that they are the weak point of this game, although still not sure whether it is the wheel settings that are causing that or the game itself.

Any suggestions welcome

I think I can make one more thread without getting spanked too hard. We need that at the very least If the Staff wants to delete 4 others, then have at it. I'm really perplexed at the response, since the whole essence of the site and layout in general points to the contrary. But oh well.....

Always remember, that the settings are the opposite of what they are in F1. We discussed this the other night, but not sure if you were there.

So 100% steering saturation is a S-L-O-W turn, while 0% is just bang bang right left with no in between. So the other settings are like this too. Throttle saturation and brake saturation too. And of course, +1 linearity slows the wheel in the middle and -1 speeds it up, but I'm sure you knew this. If you work with Throttle Sat., Lin, and don't be afraid of the 5% deadzone (I don't think it's that bad...I can hardly feel it depending on the Lin, but it does calm things down.), you will probably find something you like. May need to change for each class though. I have different settings (would be equiv. to Throttle Sat and Lin.,) on my wheel for open wheel and Sedan.

What are you tuning your car like? That makes a big difference too.
