Well, I had my first go around the Circuit of the Americas in these cars this morning and after my first few laps I was thinking I am in deep trouble having seen the times posted by Karl and Robert in this thread. I couldn’t get the damn thing below 2 minutes and thought to myself this tuning must make a hell of a difference here until realising that we are racing the National Circuit and not the GP one lol.

So, back to the start and I ran two ten minutes sessions, one in the Ford and another in the Holden. The Ford is a lot of fun but much harder to handle that backend, the Holden has much greater driveability and keeping the back in check is much, much easier. Running the default setup on both cars my first lap on the track (never driven this configuration before) was a 1:38.8 and managed to knock a couple of seconds off that with a 1:36.5 before switching to the Holden which was infinitely more comfortable. Quickly beating my Ford time I ended up with a best of 1:34.14 which would have been beaten with a mid 1:33 but for an AI car baulking me at that tricky section at the start of sector 3.

Tuning I guess will provide an advantage but happy enough at the moment and not sure where I would make too many changes, probably stiffen up the suspension as I always do but other than that I’ll just have to see and make that decision based on what tuning level I can manage.

hmm... maybe i'll have another go at it tonight with the default setting again.... maybe it was lack of track time with the car that made me go so slow at first

I see a couple of guys jumped over my points standings. Great job on everyone.
I am back for this weekends race. I will try and get some seat time Wed. or Thurs. evening 8:30-9:00pm EST if anyone is interested. Got to figure out how I can try and claw my way back into this championship fight.

if anyone can get ob tonight to level up send me a pm on here so i get an email allert. this car is more ch easier to handle with tuning. tried again tonight in default set up. best after 8 laps was 1:33.61 but you gotta drive the car different than if i tune it. tuned car after 4 laps i did 1:32.59

I tried stiffer suspension tonight but it really didn't work for me. This will be the first car we've driven that I've not stiffened the suspension.

I went default on all but brakes which I moved slightly forwards and gears which I shortened by a couple of clicks. Best was 1:33.270 on my second lap. I took it a bit easy on the final sector not wanting to mess up so know there's more time in there too.

I'll probably run full downforce on this one. There is only one straight and the rest you need everything you can find to keep you planted. I haven't practiced much because I've been out of town and only have my pad with me in the hotel room. But I'm thinking of running +30 and -30 on the suspension. After looking at the AI times we were up against from Saturday I need to pick up a couple of seconds or hope we have 8 players. The AI through the Esses would be a nightmare!

Sorry about Wednesday night Robert.. the Wife wanted to spend some time with me since I was out of town. Anyway I'm going to try and be online tonight (Friday) for some Practice at COTA if you're on I wouldn't mind running some laps with you. I still have some issues with the hard left after the Esses. If not I'll put some time in Custom Offline.
