How bout this... Autosport Race of Champions, Tuning not allowed, Upgrades not allowed, Tuner Muscle (or Street GT) at all 5 configurations of Autosport raceway. Autosport raceway has some really good tracks that would test everyone, and it's fairly neutral so F1 guys wouldn't really have an advantage.

Nice try. lol. But rest assured, Autosport Raceway will be in the next series and so will GT cars. I think we are split on tuning, and most of us would want to run other tracks as well as open wheel cars. Personally, I'm a bigger fan of the real life tracks.

Didn't see you on Michael, but it could have been that I had to work until about 11pm. Sorry about that, as I need the practice myself. This is going to be a difficult race for me. I'm not a big fan of the tail happy, American built, can't turn, muscle car. I think the game got this car pretty far off. These are road course cars, not NASCAR. (That's just one of my many excuses...lol).

Wow, thanks for the race everyone. I have to especially thanks Railer, for pushing me to drive my guts out and practicing with me. I'm sorry I had to take advantage of your mistake, but I tried not to hold you up. Thanks for letting me race with you guys Robert. I feel like I really accomplished something with the level of competition you guys run at.

Can't say this was very enjoyable. A little too much contact for my taste, but nice job by those who managed to race clean (or offer to be passed) and running in the first tier.

Whoever recorded the race, can I ask a favor...that the whole recording be posted here in this thread in its entirety. Thanks.

Standing are not yet final, but will be when appropriate. On to Bathurst (time of race may have to be adjusted for this one because of the U.S. Grand Prix, but I'll let you know as soon as I can when that will be).

INCIDENT INUIRY TO BE SUBMITTED BY ROBERT WADDELL AGAINST MICHAEL WATTS REGARDING AN INCIDENT IN RACE 2 AT COTA
Summary: The dispute involves alleged contact made between Robert Waddell and Michael Watts in the second race at The Circuit of the Americas. This occurred on or around the last turn of the esses and in the subsequent 90 degree lefthand turn thereafter. Results will not be final until the Stewards review the videotape evidence and testimony and make a decision, if necessary.
NOTE: The incident request will not be submitted until 24 hours from race end, as indicated by the above instructions and may be withdrawn before officially submitted.

Didn't particularly enjoy tonight's races. Not sure why I find online so different to offline but I lost about 2-3 seconds a lap on what I was able to run at earlier in the week offline. It compounds the annoyance at having to grind out those races to level up rather than spend that time learning the nuances of the track online.

Had some decent racing with Karl and Robert in the first race but Roberts car was acting so weird throughout I was never sure what to expect. Off track so much (I'm sure he wasn't really but that's what the game was showing me) and jagging around like a flea on speed it was very odd. After backing out of a few attempts to get past due to not being sure of what his car was doing I finally took a chance when he appeared to get a bad exit from the final turn. Right on his tail on the run up the hill his car ghosted as I went for the inside only for his car to unghost at the last minute and I locked up before making the turn. Looking back I saw Roberts car sideways but wasn't sure whether that was from contact or just Robert overdoing the throttlr on exit of the turn so initially carried on but then decided to give the place back just I in case. Karl had nipped past him just after the incident so I allowed him through first but still no sign of Robert. Then I got the message from Chris to carry on as Robert was having a problem and he then then retired.

Had a bit of a battle with Karl over the remaining laps, getting past when he got a penalty but I wasn't really enjoying the race and had little focus or pace so he soon got back through and then pulled away as I made a couple of error.

Second race I changed my setup quite a bit to try to compensate for the online difference and it felt a little better but I had already resolved to give my spot this race to Robert so struggled to keep going for as long as I did.

After a little battle with Karl in the first half of the race once he got through I dropped back to wait for Robert so we could have some fun for a few laps before I pulled to a stop and retired.

All in all not the best event for a number of reasons.

Also I have to reiterate the need for cars leaving the track to adhere to the rules regarding rejoining only when it's clear to do so, the first lap incident could have been avoided if that had been the case.

Peter, don't worry mate, you are in good company. I had roughly the same experience you did. Although I was prepared for a crap race, I was not quite prepared for the NASCAR type racing. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, and if I do, it will be done on another thread. But please post your videos if you have them.

I'd also like to reiterate what you said. Granted we are driving sedans, but that does not mean we can all just bang our way through each other or come back on the track like it's a Saturday night in Bristol. Again...this is a Touring Car series, not a NASCAR series. The RD rules still apply.

Some sites have a rule (especially where there are no penalties by the game or pits), where the first half of the first lap must be run single file. If these kinds of first lap problems continue (again I'm not pointing fingers here, because I've done idiotic things too...and have learned some valuable lessons in F1), I'm sure we will have to think about a no pass rule for the first lap. Because there are no pits. It would be a shame, but ruining someone's entire race in the first sector in unacceptable, even if you were not completely to blame. I know we all want to get ahead, but if you are fast enough, you will win the race anyway without ruining another's. Race Two was a good case in point. And I gather Race One had similar problems.

And while I'm on a rant, out of all the incidents that happened, only Peter had the manners to pull over and ask someone else to pass. I know many of you would have done the same, but for some reason it didn't happen yesterday. Better to finish last as a gentleman than first as a scoundrel. Some may disagree, but I believe it. Again, I know we all can race clean, so let's try harder. Thanks.

Points: 1-25; 2-18; 3-15; 4-12; 5-10; 6-8; 7-6; 8-4; 9-2; 10-1
Pole = 1 point
(Each Race scores double points; pole point only counts for first race)

Race Format
TOURING CLASS -- There will be a qualifying session to start after a minute in the menu section to get your car tuned if you own it (but it's best to pre-tune it from your garage). The qualifying session will be in the form of a race (since there is no on-line qualifying) of three laps, from a standing start. (Don't forget, if there is A.I. in the race, the qualifying session and subsequent line-up will include A.I. slotted to their respective times). Following this, there will be two races of 30 minutes each (or the equivalent number of laps it would take the best A.I. driver to reach 30 minutes). Grid order will be qualifying order for Race 1 and order of finish of Race 1 for Race 2.
Grids of less than 8 drivers will be filled out with A.I. on "hard" difficulty.

Be careful because the game does not allow pit stops, so repeated damage (indicated by icons on the right lower HUD and progressive in increments of yellow then red) due to a well developed damage model could seriously compromise your race.

Flashbacks: None
Tuning: Allowed
Upgrades: Disallowed
View: Any
Gears: Manual or Automatic
Assists: Disallowed

Peter, I will try and figure out offline races and try the same car. I only practiced online with Robert and Michael and was in the mid 1:32's. During our race I was there also except when I went over the line and got my time penalties.
For race 1, I felt some contact after turn 1 but that was all. Not sure if I braked too early than others but I kept my normal speed thru there. Rest of the race was nothing to note.
Race 2 another good tussle thru turn 1 I think with Michael Watts as I looked behind me on the uphill climb and saw only his car. I went thru turn 1 and felt another bump and I looked back and saw Hemps barreling down on me. I asked wheres Watts and heard someone say he was off track. I wasn't sure if I may have ran into him or he was trying to pass. If I ran you off the track Watts, it was not intentional. If you feel other wise please let me know and we will sort it out. Hemps was all over me even worse than a cheap suit. I know he can drive and man did he show it the first few laps. Hemps and I had built up quite a lead I think by lap 4 and coming out of the turn towards the triple right hander a little coming together. Hemps was a gentleman and remained in position as I completed my 360 and continued on.
I had my severe screwup at the end of the esses and crossed the lines twice and got a 6 sec penalty. Watts blasted thru and a lap later it was "see ya" with Hemps as he took over second.
I was fortunate to maintain that position but never could challenge them for the top spot.
Was a good race to finally come back to the league but will see how the points are now for the finale in Australia.
Will try and get the RD car back and not drive the Kicker Commodore.
I feel some great lap times and driving coming to Mt. Panorama. Will be a battle for the championship.
