this template I would not recommend at all to 2D artists, 3D here will produce great results, looks straight forward the layout but the techniques used to flatten the mesh are aggressive.

All the white in the template/ white and red, but all the white is flipped and is black in the alpha channel,
so white diffuse black alpha gives the carbon on the chassis, red and white in the alpha produces the paints,
here you can see the results from the above template.

I started painting this template but added a minimum to it mainly warnings ect,
this mesh is over the chassis mesh, will generate much higher resolution and straighter logos in key areas that I deemed to be maybe tricky in 2D to paint, so there is the main chassis and this high res logo layer, giving multiple various options but forgot to add the "MIRRORS" will do it later but seems to be some spare space here so its NP :)

I dont know about any release schedules I just make the cars,
I have 1 bug with glass on the nose for the track/ers and pit harvest whatever I can see it but cant make it shine through the glass :D
and some dirt and damage textures to make and my work is finished :)

I've tried 3D in PS a few times and find it to still be a bit 'meh' for want of a better word. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Having said that, when I have tried it, it's been on non-RSS cars where I had to get the 3D model using 3Dsimed3, not using a proper 3D template like you guys make. I did use it on the UCM car (obviously not an RSS product, but the template was at the same quality level!) for the RedBull logo on the sidepods which worked well, but most of the time am not pleased with the results - can be good as a reference though to then do it in 2D with vectors and/or (warping) smart objects though.

lol I have just read that back and think I sound like I think I'm an expert or something when in reality, I've only been doing skins for a couple of months :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::redface:

Great that you made that extra 'high-res' logo template though - it will really help I think. I may even attempt to make a skin for this when it is released - probably not an F1 2018 livery though as there are others far better than me to do that.

btw I wonder if the HALO will be switched off in the setting screen like the Visual Mods of VRC's mp4-22 or just another car without HALO:sneaky:

Hi there will be 2 cars,
the 1st car will have an option for it to be switched on and off, in the setup menu,
but these things are just for the car you are driving so if driving with the AI they will all show the Halo,
so there will be also a S1 version with no Halo at all, so quite customised car with choice.
 
Hi this mod has gone sadly, the LOD of the car made is surplus to requirements,
would be fine for shows and events single players use, but adding it back to the car at this stage would make the build well over 360,000 triangles its too much sadly so we made a decision to drop it.
Another question: are the tyres 1 step softer than the 2017's or are they the same?
 
Not quite sure if something will change at some point but with 77 textures,
we have a 39mb kn5 and completed car, but I feel rich might splash out on some extra **** :D
