Qualifying

Qualified 4th on primes and messed up my last lap

Race

Got a good start and held 4th and had a good scrap with DrTest until he ran wide on the last corner and went to set about catching the other two, got into second after Hype pitted, and was abit boring for a while then had a scary moment with the renault not yeilding as I tried to lap it, then i pitted and came out behind Hype and thats when the duel started for about 9 laps, it was a great battle as i tried to find placces to pass, and i even went well off at T1 due to glancing away from the screen for a split second to which i found Hype waiting for me to continue the fight, he ran wide in the last corner and i past him with about 2 or three laps left and cocked up the penultimate lap that let him through into T4 i caught back up and knew my only chance was to force him into a mistake by making him defend a move into the last corner that wasnt gonna happen, and it worked, i was on his tail coming up to the braking zone and i braked early and he went sailing wide as he broke late to defend the move i wasnt making and i got a better run out and got second by a short gap due to my poor straight line speed.

One of the best races ive had since joining RD!! Thanks Hype

How have you and the team been practising for this race?

Due to pedal problems and the facts that 5: I hate my wheel and 6: my wheel hates me I've not had enough time for practice. Also being called to the Vatican for some kind of "special" tour has taken up a lot of my time and after the tour I'm having problems sitting down for long periods without a large padded pillow.

How will you cope with all of the mud which surrounds the track?

I'll try not to drive through the dirt but if i step in any i have all the HRT pit babes to help me out in the shower.

Silverstone is in the middle of some fields, what sleeping arrangements have you and your team made?

The team have arranged for Louise Goodman to tuck me up in bed at night, she said that Scott Webber may be the better driver but she needs a real man for other things.

With England having such a varied range of weather in its summer what are you hoping for, rain or sun?

I'm hoping for a bit of both and possibly snow as well.

Did not nail the last lap perfectly, was one tenth down in the first sector on my PB but turned it around in the two last ones to improve with .25 seconds.

Race - 1st

Had a pretty good start, no need to defend my position down into turn one. Pushed quite hard, not like crazy during the opening stints. Pitted on lap 12, perfect stop.
I was driving consistently and not making any huge errors, just a lockup during braking here and there.
In the later stages of the race I came up to two battling drivers, Ryan Bakken and Andrew Gibson. Ryan probably didn't realise that I was going to lap him when he made his little off-road trip at Turn 4 so I had to back out of the throttle but eventually got thru'.

The big scare, however, came when I caught up with the Virgin of Andrew Gibson. Coming up into the midfield section and the fast double right-hander at turn 6 & 7. Blasting thru' the corner at 220+ kph at the ideal racing line, Andrew suddenly stops on the racing line! My reactions wasn't enough tough, and the contact was non-avoidable. And to mu huge suprise, I got the penalty for causing the collision? (Seriously, what the hell is that? Giving me penalty for that? I guess that's F1 2010, LOL).
However, no hard feeling tough. Just remember to never stop in the middle of the track.

Served my penalty directly and caught up again to the battling pair again in a couple of laps. This time everything went fine. However, my gap was only about 13 seconds to Jamie-Lee with about 10 laps or so remaining and then just raced to victory :f1: and doing the Seb Vettel finger!

All in all, I'm happy with my performance and my pace. Probably could have gone a bit quicker at the end of my first stint. The 3 races I've attended I've won, so I'm not sad.

Right, i've done a 1:20:885 in a red bull in the dry with 10 laps of fuel in on options.. first proper go of my wheel (more than 15 minutes) with sims as per the race tomorrow, not setting the world on fire, but im relatively happy with that as i've nowhere near put the time in like some. i think i know where i can improve in the second and third sectors.. just miss the apex and then lock the brakes as i think i have a heavy foot!

hoping not to finish dead last anyways!

OOPs the questions!

How have you and the team been practising for this race?

Practise? Doh!!...knew i forgot something

How will you cope with all of the mud which surrounds the track?

I like mud! especially wrestling in it. i ALSO have access to the HRT pit babes for showering etc.

Silverstone is in the middle of some fields, what sleeping arrangments have you and your team made?

Sleep? and i quote..."Live when i'm alive, sleep when i'm dead"

With England having such a varied range of weather in its summer what are you hoping for, rain or sun?

I'm hoping for a typical Queensland summer day...hot and sticky then a sudden burst of wetness then back to hot and sticky before the final climax. That reminds me, must call Danica back...

I must also address the Go Go Juice issue. I am loathe to admit that the original idea for Go Go came from a Miss Paula Lock. She was the inventor and in my FIRST hostile takeover i seem to have the rights and patent now. I have of course improved the drink, now known as the "Extra Strength Premium Blend" and i am surprised sales have been slow. I have done ALOT...and i mean ALOT of testing of this product and it is better by far than that Pink Cow s*#t. I have never met Miss Lock and i see that she sometimes posts here under the name 'Paul Lock" but that is very obviously a typo because in our phone calls and video conferencing it was (very) obvious due to the high pitched voice, dresses, earings, make-up and of course driving style that she is a she!
Another hostile takeover from me, this time Red Bull?? Mum's the word for now but i promise you, exhaust fumes will be the first to know.

Yours faithfully,
Bill Devery

P.S. Very disappointed to hear that Louise has been tucking someone else in as well...
P.P.S. Keep up the great work fumes and finally i get to see what Andrew Bortz looks like (front cover).

well joempie i would after having a quick look at ur video that our first meeting id say im not guilty for shooting up inside when you lose it a little but it was close so id be happy to accept it was race incident.... but lap 9 forgive me if im wrong.. you ran up my behind after i not doing speed you expected... all swt m8....good fun and dont think either were nasty...see ya tonight maybe

Best edition yet

How have you and the team been practising for this race?

Loadsa practise at my own private version of the track, which lead to completely different performance when I finally had a proper practise race. So remembering what someone once said, I went & nicked 1 of the Red Bulls
(I plied the pit girls with 75 litres of GoGo Juice to allow me to sneak in unnoticed... worked a treat

)

& tried that at my private track. I knocked another 8 secs off my lap times & then went for another proper practise race, where I managed to equal my TT time of 1 min 33 summat (which I have since gone & beaten by 4 secs in TT) & came 6th out of 11, so I'm now thinking I may not achieve that last place spot in the real race!

Edit. With only 5 working buttons on my wheel, I have just programmed my N52te with some macros for wing & engine adjustments!

How will you cope with all of the mud which surrounds the track?

Mud schmud doesnt bother me, what with my wall-riding skills & barrel-roll skills from my background in rallying from my Dirt2 days!

Silverstone is in the middle of some fields, what sleeping arrangments have you and your team made?

I live in the middle of the park anyway, & with festivals & rallies attended as well, sleeping in the fields is like a home from home

With England having such a varied range of weather in its summer what are you hoping for, rain or sun?

Hoping for sunshine ofc, but seeing as it's English summer I presume it will chuck it down like it usually does

P.S. I must say the Golden Bortz is looking particularly lovely on that front cover spread

P.P.S. I couldnt help myself, I just had to watch all 3 parts of "Monster under the bed"
