Nice progress guys, good to see the pro-am threads so active :)

One thing I wasn't fully aware of but have now discovered is that the practice session for a Grand Prix don't actually follow the settings for the actual race. For example in the practices I have done over the last couple of days I have just been running in the practice session of a 50% race to work on my setup, tyre management, etc. I assumed that the tyre wear and fuel load would be the same as in the actual race (ie for a 50% race the the tytres would wear twice as quickly and the fuel load would drop the same). However, this morning I got up at 6:30 to have half an hours running in a 50% Grand Prix so I can have a little bit of practice in race conditions and found that the tyre wear and fuel load was totally different to the practice sessions.

Am I the only one that hadn't realised this fact lol

We need to have a think about what we do for the Pro Am on the week off.
Some random Ideas:
1) Do a Race at Spa (never too many of them). Its next after Hungary Go Kart W/Champs
2) Do a race with manual pit box control and speed limiter
3) Do a 75% race
4) Have a week off ( I can get some career races done! started year 3 last night)
5) Any other ideas to get a vote from racers on
Have a think, give us your thoughts.
Cheers

Peter, I hadn't noticed. I'm curious now. Maybe wear rates in pratice sessions are as per 100% race and only adjust in race session for the set distance.

How have you and the team been practising for this race?

I saw most of my team mates practicing, but I don't want to talk about their results.

How will you cope with all of the mud which surrounds the track?

the ferrari pit girls can cleanup the mud, they say they are "dirty" girls

Silverstone is in the middle of some fields, what sleeping arrangments have you and your team made?

we just camp somewhere around the circuit

With England having such a varied range of weather in its summer what are you hoping for, rain or sun?

I will pray for the shining sun, so I can drive with my new sunglasses:cool:

Yeah David I am pretty sure now that is what happens but I just never realised before.

7) Do a race with manual gears lol

Failing that I am with you on the week off as I haven't been back to my career in I can't remember how long. Still less than halfway through my first year!!!

How did I know that you would want manual gears! I was thinking as I wrote about the assists but it would really be quite tough on our newer drivers (ok me too) amd the Pro Am format does need to try to balance the challenge and fun factor with being very inclusive. Wow I sounded like I was being interviwed on Radio 4 there.

Career: Have just commenced season 3/7 in the Lotus and its feeling quite frisky.
I ran Expert mode in season 2 excepting Fuel Sim and Manual Gears, Pit Box and Pit Lane. 50% dist. Had 2 Wins, 4 Podiums, 137 Points and 7th in WDC.
Last night I started season 3 at Bahrain. What a difference a couple of months has made. Was P20 last season.
Setup:Looked at my setup and figured I had too much front camber, way too much rear camber and toe in. Tweaked springs a little.
Technique Cured my two bogey corners with technique of looking to apex and picking braking marker with peripheral vision
Track Knowledge Finally got a good sense of this track.
Result: Quali P9 On Primes , P2 by 1/3 distance and when the leader Hamilton pitted for primes (the nancy was on Options-no faith)took the lead. Had enough gap to rejoin in P1 after my pit stop P1 and -5 sec. 1/2 lap up on most and took the win. Bring On Melbourne.

Don't worry david I was only kidding. I know it's a step too far at the moment.. but I will keep trying

OK now you have got my juices flowing for getting back to the career. I was only running on 20% races for that first season and think just the amateur mode with all assists off with fuel and tyre sim on and had reached about Turkey I think so I really need to get back, finish that season as quickly as possible and move onto a bigger challenge for Season 2.

Initially it was the Time Trial competition and subsequently the league racing that took my focus off the career. Hmmm.. maybe if I get up an hour earlier each morning I can get that season finished fairly quickly.

thanks for the pm david
i did a couple of online races last night just to get the hang of it. montreal is so much more fun when you're against real people and have to scrape the barriers just to keep up(i went in to the wall of champions:tongue:)

looking forward to some clean racing
