Yeah thats tough lines with the quali Bill, but that car would have out of the drivers control and they would have been watching the timing board on the menu screen.

Im exhausted after that, had a busy day too and no real time to focus before racing.

Right then, first of all I hope you enjoyed the Fleetwood Mac in the lobby
Was sat waiting to start for what seemed like ages. I actually started getting quite pensive. Was gone 10 past when we got going.

Anyway, my strategy was simple. Qualify on options, get at least 4th spot, avoid turn 2 crazyness and get the rhythm early on. The reason behind this was I planned to run on 'cruise' for the whole race, short shift like crazy and pick up some spots at the end when people run out. I saw no advantage to starting on primes, as I would be conserving fuel towards the end of the race, rather than flooring it.

So quali on options, outlap, flying lap - mistake, pit. New options, outlap, flying lap - mistake, pit. Scott's got a flyer in, and the only reason im not last is because someones written it off already! (think it was dfpredator)
So third time lucky, outlap done, I go for my last chance and its quick. Quicker than expected as I had to really let off exiting 5 and so nearly hit the wall. I grab the pole position and hold it to the end of session - whoop, my first ever pole in any RD race, league or club.

Race time. I knew due to my strategy I wouldnt be at the front of the pack for long. Cruise mode and doesnt it show! Scott walks past me one we get into turn 2, and I dont know where the hell mattie comes from, but he is now in 3rd spot! I go deep at the bridge and it seems like I have time to bring it back on track, so I hope I didnt cut you off mattie.
Anyway, we turn on the 'straight' after the bridge and have a proper senna mansel moment all the way down! Obviously mattie does me, I make it easy as he is too fast and im sticking to my game plan. Lucky I check because the car is actually on standard not cruise, so I pop it over to cruise.
Mattie brakes really hard into T14 and I lose the car a bit and it squirms on me. Bill is up my chuff and I know whats gonna happen next. We get a little bit of contact with my right front and Bills back left in T17. I leave room but it feels like he turns out a bit, and I lock my front which lets marine sneek through and now im 5th. Luckily marine goes too wide at 19 and 20 and I get the place back on the run down to the pits.
The 4 of us are in convoy till lap 3 where mattie makes a mistake exiting 13 and bill closes him down going into 14. Yes I do have it on film guys. Im not sure if this is going to become a formal matter, I know things appear different from different cockpits, but to me it just looks like a racing incident. You guys are side by side into T14 and I think Mattie knows this as he seems to try and hug the wall, but Bill takes the racing line, maybe thinking he is well infront and of course there is contact. Im just glad I kept a tight line or else I would have smashing into Bill too! Despite praying marine and bill were gonna smash into each other, they dont! Bugger!

Lap 4 marine taps me at the bridge. I make a bit of contact with the barrier but keep all my bits. No hard feelings Jan, I took it as a friendly pat on the back Lap 7 and Bill has passed me, we start lap 8 and he gets a poor exit, and you will never know how close I came to hitting you in T2! I mean my heart was in my mouth that time!

Have a near miss with Jan in T12. He passes me and seems to brake very early, in a nano second, I move to the right and dont brake - if I carry on braking we will hit when he turns in, so I need to get past him before that, so I stop braking and fly past him into the run off - phew! haha.

So then im down to 5th and a bit of a gap to Jan. I knew I was holding them up, if my mapping was different who knows where I could have finished coz I was fast through the turns.

Lap 9 Bill disconnects and im 4th. Lap 10 and Marine pits so im 3rd. Its getting onto lap 12, my options are orange and im gonna come in the pits, but it starts to rain! So I stay out till it passes pitting with 2 red back wheels on lap 14. Back out and im 9 secs behind Marine in 3rd. It stays like this till lap 18 when Marine disconnects! I feel so sad for him, honestly I do.

To be honest, thats about it. After that the remaining laps are just me keeping about 30secs gap to the leaders and minding my fuel.
What I do notice, is mattie and impulsive starting to swap places! I begin to hope and pray that these two sukkers take each other out! It could happen! Maybe a broken spoiler! Oh or they might burn fuel fighting and ill cruise past them on the last lap!
Unfortunately nothing like happend, and I brought it in 3rd place, even switching it to 'fast' map for the last lap!

Im throughly made up with my first podium in the league. Had some good battles along the way, a really good quali as ive not got a pole either in any RD race.

Didnt do any serious practice for this race at all really so expectations werent high.

Did my usual softly softly approach into turn one and took advantage of the complete carnage that unfolded in front of me to find myself in 3rd place.

A few laps later the incident shown in the clip below occurred but at the time I didnt pick up on the fact that I had been penalised.

2 laps later and was enjoying a battle with andrew (making a nuisance of my self) when much to my surprise a penalty reminder flagged up at which point i pitted and totally lost interest. Complete boner kill a penalty like that.

I will post the first 6 laps of race later, had a couple of incidents with people spinning in front of me and the start is quite interesting for those who want to see the pile up.

Yeah, I remember that incident in your footage. Rob didn't make the corner and was parked there. I came flying and ofcourse I got startled by seeing him there...locked up my wheels a bit (no surprise there as I had no confidence under braking with this unstable setup anyway) and gently slid into the back of him. What a disaster race...

I didn't give him anything I was trying to make him hungry.....maybe Dave slipped him some thinking it would make him see things and it backfired...lol........I tried to take him off road a few times but he wouldn't go !!!!!........and thanks........

Well i'm really looking forward to you and jan's vids because mine is buggered....because it was such an exciting 9 laps !! as far as the incident with mattie, it's never going to go to the stewards because i didn't finish the race so it had no impact on the result. i knew he was there close but i felt i had a three quarter car length advantage so i turned in as per normal figuring he would give the corner up and live to fight another day :-\
Hey nobody has mentioned the 'action' at turn 2 opening lap!!! that's because there was no action...clean beautiful racing by us professionals (cough cough).

Congratz everyone on your achievements today, and congratz to most of you for beating me (haha, kidding).

I went into this race well prepared, knowing exactly where I would lose my race, if I would. I made a few deals with myself, so that I wouldn't spin of in a fight, hit or touch anyone, don't drive over my poor mechanic and not getting a penalty for speeding or cutting.

Of this deal, I managed to fulfill none of the conditions. It started in the first lap [see video], where the second of my commitments went down the drain.

I do not know who is guilty here, but I had no intention of overtaking Bending, just accelerated out of the corner like I normally would.

As you can understand, it totally ruined my race. I had a very bad inlap (due to the massive front downforce loss), and a 2 stop strategy.


I'm not sure if I should take this to the stewards, and if yes, how I should do that.

I'd like to get your opinions on this incident please.

I was in no form to compete with anyone. During the entire race, I had only 3 fights. One was with Webz, the other with Joempie (where I made many silly mistakes, so he finished way ahead of me in the end), and one with Italian. He came out exactly in front of me. I was glad to see this, because this proved that my race pace was the same as his, and he's quick here. I had to let him pass, because he was on fresh tires, and I on my worn out primes.

Fate was merciless this race. In the last lap, in the 2nd sector, I went out of fuel. I tried to manage my fuel by constantly racing on the 'standard' engine mapping, but that was apparently not good enough.


I'm happy to announce that I did not hit anyone else this race



EDIT: this video contains footage of the dispute between Zomacher and Bending too, so this might be usefull for 2 causes!

As for Bending colliding with you, I would say he was just taking the racing line...and didn't notice you in the heat of battle with Zomacher. That is just based on your footage. Would be weird if he tried to squeeze you out there. Hard to tell from this.

Had I not of been the host I would agree with you Tracy, unfortunately we never aniticipated putting this into the rules but some of you may have noticed in races where the host migrates you get some funny results screens at the end. So I didnt tell everyone to restart I just informed them what had happened and waited to see if anyone started dropping for me to restart.
