snthennumbers and driveroz247 thanks to you both for this invaluable info. Really appreciate your time and I am learning more every day :) I will absorb all this information over the weekend, I am weary at the moment as my second race took me through the to early early hours of Saturday morning 4:30 am lol.
One last thing regarding the flashbacks. I did use a few, not many. I was aware of cars coming off the track on corners and I noticed it happen on two occasions so I flashbacked again to get them back into the race.
If you do use a flashback and no AI "within the line of sight front and behind" comes off the track is it possible some may leave the track that are "out of sight" if so maybe that could contribute to DNF's.
Thanks again guys. :)

Yes that will happen Chris, you'll be able to see this very easily at Monaco. Watch your mini map and wait till an AI car is just leaving the chicane after the casino tunnel. Do a flashback to when they're in the chicane and they'll crash into the left barrier almost without fail, and that will trigger a SC deployment.
Other times, at other parts of the track, or even at other tracks if you do a flashback and an AI car is mid corner, they'll "twitch" and go sliding off the track triggering a yellow flag for that sector.

So use those flashbacks wisely 9if at all) if you're going for the most realistic outcomes for your races.

Cheers

Can I install this mod if I have steam installation? Where should I unpack the package? Anything else I need to do after that?

Maybe this has been asked a million times already, but I can't find it on the FAQ nor on the read me nor scanning this topic.

Thanks in advance for your answers and sorry once more if I couldn't find this info elsewhere.

Yes you can install it with a Steam installation, just remember that you probably wont be able to play online.
To install it, download the archive file and extract the contents. Take those extracted files & folders and copy them.
Browse to the root of your F1 2012 install directory (probably C:\Program Files\CodeMasters\F1 2012 or something like that) and paste. When it asks if you want to overwrite files or merge folders, say yes to all.

Sha-ZAM!

If you wan't this mod and the safety car mod, then download this one and the safety car one, and only copy the tracks folder from the safety car mod and all of the other folders of this mod.

Steam default directory is, C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\F1 2012

Anybody else having issues with the weather ?
For instance yesterday racing in USA we all started on inters.......End of lap 2 all cars come in for options but RAIN IS STILL FALLING,
end of lap 4 all in for full wets but rainfall hasn't visibly increased and track still looks the same.
Halfway through lap5 on our wets and THEN rain increases (visible on track and on visor)

My problem here is not the change in weather but the fact that i must wait to see what tyres the ai are getting to decide my own.....Its impossible to judge track conditions and radio info is not right either (or comes too late)

Im not sure if its just a bug from the game or what but its very annoying.
I've been running 25% race length (for the purpose of fine tuning difficulty values) so i'm thinking maybe it could be a simulation problem that doesnt occur on longer races.

Anyone out there having similar probs ?

Demy I have a question. I'm experiencing an issue where, if the AI are faster than me down a straight, and if I don't pull to the side to defend the inside line, the AI has a really hard time getting around me and they usually slow down instead of going for a pass on me like they should. Basically if I pretend the AI caught me sleeping they cant get around me, but if I'm aware and defend my line, they'll stay on the "true" racing line and keep the speed up.

I understand why they keep their speed up when I move over - because their racing line has no obstructions (aka me) in it...so they continue on their merry way. What I don't understand is the lack of aggression on their behalf to take a wider line around me, or see that they're gaining on me earlier, so they can react more appropriately...rather than coming up to my bumper, doing a wiggle or two, and then slowing down.

Do you experience this at all? Or do you have any ideas in the AI files where the setting(s) for this would be? I'm going to guess its something in the ai_driver_config file...

Thanks!

I might be a dick later and take the 2013 mod v1tek is working on and get it combined with the SC mod and Realism mod, then post a wrap up Mod that incorporates all the good stuff from these great mods :p Obviously I'll be taking minimal to no credit lol
Good luck out there
@snlthennumbers

Please, please, please do what you suggest and create a 'Wrap-up' mod that incorporates your choices for what you think makes the game run the most realistically. Essentially we're looking to get the SC Mod working properly with this Mod in one easy to use package. Many of us are not as skilled at modding as you guys and it would be a big help

I use Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler software (Google 'jsgme' :) ) so I can easily switch between a modded/unmodded game, so I can play online etc.

Wish I could help mate, but I don't have permission from remydeleeuw to post the work from his SC mod in a wrap up.

v1tek is making a 2013 overhaul mod which should be done hopefully in the next month.

I have noticed this too but interestingly only after I combined this mod with SC mod (thanks for the instructions btw!). Before then the AI were super aggressive down the straights.

Don't copy the ai file from the safety car mod when you use this mod and the sc mod together.
Only copy the track folder from the sc mod.
I have been using this method for the last 4 races, but have yet to see the SC. Are you certain the alterartions made to the SC mod database are not needed?

Edit: Luke Weston just told me I need to alter the Realism database accordingly. Thanks guys :)

Ill check out the overtaking issue, but if it's due mixed up files im not here to help. I hope you understand that ;)

Thanks Demy. Of course if its due to files being merged theres nothing you can do!
Might be so, but ive always thought that they made an AI running into your back and suddenly braking when they try to overtake, maybe I can fix this by increasing the angle they make when they overtake.

It works like a charm over here, what track was it guys?

Mod is working perfect combined with the sc mod.
I use the database and ai folder of this mod and only the tracks folder from the sc mod.

Problems with these two combined.

Have you fully updated your game? ?

I've noticed the ai struggling to overtake on a few tracks, most recently last night in Texas.
Its exactly how snthennumbers describes,
I was in first and button opened drs and came flying up behind me....I held the line but he couldnt overtake....Came rushing toward my back bumper did a bit of a wiggle and stayed behind me.

But It doesnt happen all the time...on the same straight i was eventually overtaken but it was much further away from the next corner
