The delays are just disappointing, and if you keep falling through on them, it unstables your fan base I think. If they aren't satisfied, that's fine, but maybe they can consider an update to the tech preview. You can update games after release as well.

I'm saving for this game, but when there are alternatives... It's a bit frustrating.

Updating the tech preview would be an utterly stupid and likely impractical thing to do, it takes time and effort just to make a new build and the TD is probably of a totally separate build with substantial changes to the game and overall structure that it would require its own work to change or implement content , that would only end up taking time away from the end goal software.

From what I understand the TD is more like an E3 type demo a company would produce rather than simply a cut down copy of the game in its current state.

What other alternatives are there ? honestly there are so few driving simulators and they are so cheep you might as well just own them all , bar i racing which costs the price of every simulator 5x over but you can get a free 3 month promotion with that if you want to check it out.

Yeah, it's probably not practical to update the preview. It just gets things stuck in an odd place. I'm not sure if it's better to be like rFactor where things are updated constantly to improve, but it was shipped only so so, or just release a great game after who knows when.

There are a few other sims, and they aren't too pricey... but considering I spent a small fortune applying to med school, let's try and save what we can. Plus, I need to get my gaming in before I have no life for the next 4+ years.

this whole "good things need time"-argument becomes dumb at some point i think. you can always make your product better when you invest more time. but this has to end somewhen, otherwise it may become something like the best product you never had.
I think given what happened to nKP (release to tepid response, spend years updating by which point following has waned) late and stable enough to hold attention is better than a repeat.

It would be bad idea to release product that is untested and potentially full of bugs so taking time to polish the game is the right thing to do. I do think they should not give any pre-order or release date information before making sure that they can deliver the game on promised date. People are bound to be disappointed and emotional when they release date promises and expectations are not been fulfilled.

Personally I have expecting AC to be released in 2014. AC seem to miss some key features and on the other hand they are still adding new stuff to the game which all take time. In upcoming months the release of new consoles and block buster games will make selling the game harder to the so called casual gamer group to whom Kunos is specifically trying to sell this game.
I was reserving money to pre-order AC this month but now that money will go to Battlefield 4 order.I will pre-order AC when its available as long as I have money to do so. :p
I was really hoping to drive AC next month but its not a big deal if I cant. :)

To all those people upset about a release date being pushed back... Go read about Takedown: Red Sabre.

I can wait for AC. Realistically it is not even going to be a product I want to use until some mods start coming out, but I will wait and buy it anyway.

Once they release the full game no one is going to remember the "delay" but if they release soon with bugs or unfinished things it will be remembered.
It seems they are working hard trying to get the better game they can, that's good.

By the way I purchased rFactor2 and is really great, don't care if AC won't be out next months. But please release it before end of year at least :).

There is no delay ... the only official statement on this subject was from Marco who said the game will be out until the end of 2013 ... and that was because of the demanding code to integrate AC on Steam.

Coming from an IT background where I work with developers on a daily basis to integrate new code into the production code, I see delays all the time. Fair enough I don't work for an gaming company but the principles remain

The AC delay, specifically, is a wise decision from Kunos IMHO - if what Lee is saying is true (http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/assetto-corsa-latest-news-discussion.44395/page-166#post-1524836). I.e. that the physics and graphics have changed vastly since the TP. The reason this decision is wise is because changes to the physics and graphics will have ripple effects down the line to graphics drivers, wheel controllers and even possibly car setup files. Due to the fact they are making a PC game with thousands of possible configurations, a small change can have a large negative impact if full testing is not conducted. Full testing slows down the development times. So if Kunos were to release the game early and just do incremental updates then every new build would take twice as long as it would break a portion of the alpha/beta testers builds on every release. I'm sure it would be okay to release early but it would take for example 18 months to get from v0.5 (alpha release) to v1.0, instead of 6-10 months if they bypassed the alpha and went straight for a v1.0 release.

Kudos to the Rfactor guys for taking the alpha approach but I bet they get FAR more hate mail from people complaining that new features & bug fixes keep breaking their builds in new releases... I know that i've been guilty of this ;)

hang on, has the pre order been delayed and/or the release date? as far as I can tell if it's just the pre order then that doesn't mean the game's delayed too, just less time between the two! regardless I'd rather have v1.0 when Kunos want me to have v1.0!

The world is ending can you not tell from some of the comments ?

No one knows anything just speculation on twitter comments that they might not have the pre order available in September , which may or may not mean the game is released at the same date that no one knows.

Stefano also only said they "might" not get the pre-order ready in september... but hey where is the drama in that :D

I have it on reliable authority it'll be out when it's finished.

Don't quote me on that, but it sounds pretty realistic to me at least so no reason to doubt it...

Hmmmmm...

The game was supposed to be out almost a year ago, and they were really pushing to make it happen. Then what, a little something something, and still no clue about the actual release date? I don´t think it´s going to be released this year.

More waiting will come to those who wait, or whatever.
