If the game is delayed, I reckon it would be better for them to come clean ASAP and get it out in the open. Leaving it hanging in the air can be corrosive and undo a lot of the good work they've done building the rapport they have with the community to date. Once the news is out there people will calm down, readjust their expectations and be back onside a lot quicker than if it gets dragged out and is allowed to fester.

The more polish the game has the better it will sell , in the end RF2 is largely mess and Pcars still has wonky physics + is in alpha.

Personally I don't care for a career mode but I do care that it will bring more people into the game and allow the game to make more mainstream sales.

The more people that buy AC the better , not only will that make for more active on-line play but it will also give more money to kunos to allow for more development.

Of course I would like it to come out sooner rather than later mostly because I'm board of Gmoter physics and how boring the cars are to drive in most Gmoter based games ( with some exceptions)

But good things take time , especially with software and I'm sure kunos are exited to make a splash capitalising on the licences and the quality that's apparent to those of us that have played the TD.

It sounds like a good thing to me. Features like career mode will for sure appeal to more people, myself included. Be cool for modders as well to create their own custom careers, I can see great potential in that.

This is great!!!! Absolutely LOVE the idea of a proper career mode! Please make a good long career mode ala Gran Turismo/Forza/Shift!!!!!!!!! I would love to be able to start with a cheap shitty car and need to race to earn cash and buy more faster cars!

If the game doesn't have a career mode and is just hotlapping against AI then that's going to get old and boring VERY quick!

Wasting time on a "Career Mode" instead of implementing realistic features such as damage and dynamic track appears as catering to the mainstream game market at the expense of sim fans. If that's the case, I don't blame them, but I wasn't expecting that, having hears so much about NKP.

I never said it is making AC an action racing game.

But I still think this is not really needed since we have to wait several months more for sure for a feature most sim-racers wouldn't use anyway. I thought a sim is about the driving and not a Adventure or RPG or whatever with a story.

At least they could add weather, day/night transitions, pit stops and so on. But what do they add? A career. Oh Well.

Just hotlapping and online races can get tedious though, maybe not for "us" who enjoy working on set-ups, qualifying sessions and so on. I think a good offline event structure, championships and also online events like for example SimBin's RRRE could add more longevity to AC.

I think it wasn't a bad idea to add all that in a later version though.

We don't even know what they mean by "career mode". Both grid and iracing have career modes when you think about it, each one of them implementing it in their own way. Let's not speculate too much, I'm confident they'll release more information soon.

I don't see a problem with a "career mode" to be honest.

It's all a matter of preference, for those "hard core Simmers" who are only interested in online racing and take their Simracing seriously you don't/wont go near career mode, but think about the newbie racer who has never experienced a racesim of AC's caliber, they will not be wanting to jump into an online race with hardcore racers, so I believe what Kunos is doing has massive potential to grow our simracer ranks on a large scale over the next 3 to 5 years. And personally I'd rather see the newbie's learn to race a high level game like AC than some of the other "so called" sims.

The hardcore simracers need to think about the future of our sport of simracing, which is just as much a sport as real racing. We all need to promote our sport to as many new and interested people as possible, which is what Kunos is planning with a career mode, some of the most talented upcoming drivers in real world racing cut their teeth on sims like rFactor, Race 07 and GTL to mention a few, which all have the ability to create championships much like a career mode, which only fed their passion and love of the sport and drove them to chase their dream to be race drivers.

I'm pleased Kunos has decided to take this approach, even if it does delay the release of AC, it's all for the betterment of the game and the sport. And as some have stated previously it will generate greater income for Kunos allowing them greater finances for future licenses and development, which is better for all simracers in the long run. Which to me is a win win situation for all, wouldn't you agree?

Cheer's

I'm thinking of building a budget PC for the AC using the AMD fx-8350 processor and the HIS IceQ X Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition card.
Where can I find more information about the expected requirements of AC?
(Sorry for the off topic but I couldn't find any topic related to - thank you)

I have the GPU bundeled with a Intel Core i5 3570 4x 3.40GHz, runs perfectly fine on 1920x1080 (with a second screen attached but not used for gaming). Default settings in the TP frame rates of 60, did not play with the settings, only once, can't remember what I did but i think the frame rates went beyond 100.

I'm happy to hear that, but I still wonder about how efficient the 7870 is going to be with 20 - 30 cars on track...

Just to say, a championship "mode" (already prepared or custom created) like included in rFactor or GP4 is very different from a "career" mode you face for example in GT5 or Shift. The direction and notion are completely different. Either way, doing a "career" or "championship" still includes AI, so the argument about tedious races against AI still persist.
