There is no logic .. there is no way that Pinball game got more attention then AC did .. So whats the point to even vote for these things on Steam? Seems like a bit of a joke to me. But lets keep our fingers crossed for another round.

Maybe valve and AC have it worked out so that it gets greenlit closer to the actual release date. That's what I hope anyway. I really wanted to see this on Steam. If it got greenlit today, fans might mistake that for an indication that AC will be released sooner than it actually will, which might cause contention. Maybe maybe maybe.

That is a picture from the "Rush" Movie trailer, I wouldn't read to much into that he could simply mean the movie... just saying ;)

"I was born in 1972. This has been the first F1 model my father gave me, this is the first F1 car I remember to have seen in my life. It was red, it was cool, it was special, but I never imagined that it might have an influence in my personal career. That's why I love it, that's why I wish to share it with people who share my same passion."

[...] steam has a huge community and reaches a lot of people who are not [...] sim racers but would appreciate racing games nonetheless[...]

While this is all good and true, specially for Kunos future, it frightens me being a sim-racer having to cope with a possible mainstream, which might drag the quality of racing down.

Talking of steam's workshop, it's not really needed. The sim-racing community will create their own websites and mod collections anyway.

Well for all we know it wasn't greenlit because Kunos feels it's not ready to be greenlit yet, afaik any game that is greenlit needs to be ready for purchase (notice that I'm not saying the game needs to be FINISHED, that's something entirely different :p).

What harm would this "mainstream" cause you? It would lead to more crowded public servers, which is a good thing for people who can stomach public servers. For us that can't there will be things like RDs Club Races where you won't have to cope with wreckers and such.
Having the masses find AC is nothing but positive, it will lead to more copies sold, more money for Kunos which means more DLC and content for us (and possibly another title come some years in the future).

Also, I think sim racers need to get off their high horses and stop being elitist snobs (sorry to put it so bluntly), none of us where born good racing drivers and at some point we have all been part of that "mainstream mass" that tried out a sim and didn't quite manage to handle the car cos we where used to Codemasters titles (most of us at least, there will always be aliens... :p).
Instead I think you should embrace every opportunity you get to take your hobbies out of the EXTREMELY niche corner it is right now and make it mainstream. The more people who try a sim the more proper simracers there will be and the more proper simracing competition you will have!
So instead of being afraid of the mainstream, try learning the guys joining a thing or two, both of you will benefit from that. :)

I wouldn't be too keen about that. See what Project Cars caused - a lot of the "mainstream" people poured into this thing and brought a lot of concepts and misconceptions together about what makes or breaks a simulator, even so far the sim-racing community itself got affected by it and started shop-talking about hardcore sims, real-core sims and funky stuff a like. And I am sure there will be moaning, down talking (maybe expect badmouthing) by some causal people who can not handle AC like "professionals" in four days. The problem is simply a lack of understanding or a lack of willing to understand the concept of simulation and racing put together. Simply put: "If it doesn't handle like xy, it is not a sim." - one of many misconception.

How would you guarantee that "wreckers and such", the definition is unclear, however I wouldn't say they have to do it intentionally by all means, don't find their way to RD and racing clubs alike? Just to say, I know of a racing club, a rather popular one too, where I have been a member for some years, but where recently some of these guys ("wrecker and such"), have more power than the regular passionated sim-racer.

This has nothing to do with being elitist. I started my sim-racing team with newbies, while I was only a moderate sim-racer with some experience from very early sims, club races and with some knowledge in multiple class racing. I gave a lot of support to my teammates and the team grew. Some left and some are still there, we learned a lot together and I am honestly happy that one of the guys, who still isn't the fastest around, still enjoys racing with us from time to time. And I am glad that he gets the opportunity!

Anyway I am not an alien, but I touched a codemasters title only once.

I believe this is wishful thinking. But I can be wrong.

Done that and noticed that some people have the will to learn and some do not, whatever the reason, I am not authorized to judge.

Last but least, let me emphasize my believes that for Kunos, Steam could be a financial opportunity to grow and to earn a reputation as a developer, hopefully a pleasing one.

Edit: and yes - should it count anyhow - I gave AC a thumb up at Steam

:)

For all we know? AFAIK we don't know ****. I'm pretty sure they would not turn down an occasion of being greenlit.

Have you actually played 'that pinball game' and know how long it has been on GL? It recreates real tables down to the finest detail. It has also been on GL for an extremely long time. The consensus is, that it shouldn't even be on GL, unlike all the 8bit and Zombie clones that plague Steam. It also has a combined download off over 2 million on IOS and Android, that's not counting how many on PS3 and 360 also.

I can guarantee there's more people playing pinball than racing sims at this very moment. I'm sure AC will be GL soon, so don't worry :)

No I havent looked at it I just randomly picked it off the list..

Surprised to see those numbers tbh and really thought that Racing games would be more populair then Pinball games. Was not putting that game down iether as I played them a lot when I was younger.. Actually had one of those things in my room when I was a kid. (slot machine aswell) Wich I sold later and regret doing now

Is this AC (or version of) running on the Ferrari simulator?

Why is it that whenever a reporter gets into an F1 car or simulator they are utterly clueless and make a total mess of it.

Its totally fine for the reporter to be awful at driving but they should still cover things in an informative way , maybe actually doing a bit of background research then asking interesting questions covering key points and details rather than ultra generic points that are asked or gone over every single time a a car/simulator segment is done.

At least Anton Stipinovich tried to answer the reporter as best possible , though it looked to me by the end of the video he wanted to smash his face into a wall.

I found it funny when once I was playing a sim (maybe rfactor?) while my uncle was watching. He said "oh wow, the brake lights light up when you hit the brakes, that's impressive!" My answer: "No, they literally spawn t-rex's with chainsaw that dig into the ground to help you slow down."
