Indeed I am. During the race when Webber and Vettel was battling i was thinking, oh what a race this is. And then RBR's engineer radio-ed in: "Seb this is silly" and I immediately could tell that Seb was going against orders. If you think about it, if Seb had not went against team orders then there wouldn't have been this battle and the 2nd half of the race would have been botched, quite frankly. So for us audience Seb's movement is definitely a plus, but I genuinely feel for Mark. Already backstabbed by Helmut Marko and now he has to cope with this; I really doubt he will resign for next year.

The thing about it is that Hamilton will look like the good guy for saying that Rosberg should have been on the podium but I doubt he would be saying the same thing if Mercedes allowed ROS to race.
ROS was not even .5 seconds behinds Lewis, he was .3 seconds behind Lewis, basically right on his gearbox. And Lewis made no attempt to defend. He took the normal racing line on the straights, did not move over, probably just hinting Rosberg to move past. He knew he was slower with so much less power so why defend? At the end of the day it was Mercedes' fault for holding Rosberg back, not Lewis.

Vettel obviously felt he needed the extra 7 points today because he will be in a season long battle with Alonso and possibly Raikkonen (though I am not so sure now that Lotus will be a serious contender). At the end of the season if Vettel wins his 4th championship by less than 7 points, remember this race. The haters will still hate regardless of what happened today. But as a fan of F1 I am sorry to see that these Pirelli tires are influencing the racing more by having the drivers conserve their tires and expect to do most of their passing by jumping other cars in the pits. I prefer to see the drivers pass each other on track.

What would Aryton say about this? Ayrton was all about racing hard on the track and doing whatever he needed to do to win.

Oh I would love to see cars make 3 or 4 stops, but I expect them to race flat out during the whole thing. F1 is currently going towards Endurance.

The tyres were the same for last year. Unpredictability, small working windows, terrible traction, and unreasonable degredation. If Ayrton was still alive to this day, he would not even come to any F1 race, not to say watch it at home. If Ayrton was still alive, he'd be the #1 protestor of Pirelli, with Schumi #2

Vettel could remember that he won 2 of his 3 WC thanks to the points that Webber stole from rivals. With Massa in RBR and Vebber in Ferrari history would have been quite different.

Now, if he wants to drive against everybody, I just say: bring it on. Pity that Marko will never allow Webber to do what he should.

Vettel radio chat mid race:
"He's too slow, get him out of the way!!"

That pretty much sums up Vettel's understanding of team orders and race strategy. It's all one way. So, I guess we shouldn't be surprised how things went in the end.

Actually, right after this was aired, Webber started to push and raised the gap to two seconds. In my mind that means he was controlling the race. I do think that this will cost RBR in the long run and next year we'll see a new driver in that team, one whos' more comfortable to drive #2 car.

Merc drivers followed team orders, even when it seems that neither of them agrees with the team. Lewis/Nico fuel difference can be explained a bit because Nico went DRS open for ten laps or more, most likely he had to lift at the end or coast long, that saves a lot of fuel (those who have managed to pull several 0.1l finishes in virtual racing know that..)

I'm not saying it was Hamilton's fault, I'm just saying that Hamilton wouldn't be so humble if he missed out on the podium; which in my opinion Rosberg deserved more.
Your statement is completely theoretical. Lewis was humble on the podium, he was dissatisfied with the team order and the result. It is a different Lewis now. I might have agreed with your statement had this been 2010 or 2011, but Lewis has clearly matured and moved on.

So stop it with the "ifs" and "should have" or "would have"s.

Oh for....I had a long post written and then lost it because I'm dumb.

Alright, lets do this again.

-Red Bull is in for some turbulences. Mark Webber won't stay down after this, I don't think so, and I think if Vettel and Webber ever fight for position again, Webber will either end ahead, or both will get a trip to the gravel/wall. Being aggressive is a game 2 can play. That, or he'll punch Vettel before the season ends. Oh, and that Vettel radio: "Seb, that was silly." Brilliant.

-Mercedes's team orders were quite dumb. Why didn't they let Rosberg past? They would have gotten a 3rd and a 4th position either way, Rosberg might have had a chance at attacking Webber. I can only think that Ross Brawn wanted Hamilton to have a podium with Mercedes as soon as possible, but it sounds really dumb. Neither Hamilton nor Rosberg looked too happy about it, but hopefully it won't cause unnecessary frictions between them.

-Ferrari...where to start. Fernando had a really pointless DNF. It seems it was his fault, and it was a rookie mistake. Even worse than a rookie mistake. Staying out with the wing like that is something that only a backmarker leading into the last lap would attempt to do. As for Massa, suddenly he can't drive fast anymore, I can't understand that. 5th in the end, but he should have been fighting the Mercedes at the very least, the car should be capable of that.

-Lotus: Grosjean managed a good race, he gained a few positions so it's fine. Räikkönen seemed to have a lot of troubles passing people (too short of a 7th gear again?) although the fight with Hulkenberg was quite fun to watch (my brother was raging as a fan of Kimi though). Solid points, but perhaps I expected more of them.

-Sauber: Hulkenberg had a solid race, with a lot of hard driving, just as it should be. Gutierrez did worse, but he's a rookie, so he still needs time to adapt. Hulkenberg's release going side-by-side with Räikkönen didn't seem too legal though, I wonder if there will be an investigation for that.

-McLaren: At the beginning Button showed he can take advantage of bad conditions, but once the track dried, it was clear McLaren doesn't have a car for top5, and barely for top10. Then they made a big mistake in Button's stop, which basically ended his race. As for Perez, he did the best the car allowed him, but I wonder, did McLaren think they would lose more than 20 seconds in the last lap due to the tyres? That pit stop in the last lap was quite weird.

Toro Rosso: Ehm, they didn't show up a lot in the broadcast, did they? Vergne's release directly into Charles Pic's path was quite dumb, and also, Ricciardo is having a bad start to the season, with 2 retirements in 2 races.

Williams: Well, 11th for Bottas is quite decent having in mind the current state of the car, but with many retirements ahead of them, that's not too promising. Maldonado retired again, after breaking his front wing in a trip to the travel, so a bad start to the season for him too.

Marussia: Wow. Bianchi 13rd, lapping his team mate, in a track he's never raced before. It's way too soon to talk about Ferrari (silly season is going to be fun) but if he can keep this momentum he'll be a solid candidate for some mid-field teams. As for Max Chilton, I'm not sure what kind of race he had, so I won't comment too much about it, but he's being outclassed right now. Perhaps he'll improve in the next races.

Caterham: Not too impressive, to be honest. They seem to have lost to Marussia this year, and neither Pic nor van der Garde seem to be the kind of drivers who can push a team that Caterham would need. Pic lost some time when he was rammed by Vergne in the pit stop, so perhaps he would have been ahead of Bianchi without that. Who knows.

Force India: Ehm...ehm...ehm...who gave those guys vodka before the race? I don't know what kind of problems they had, but it was quite silly, and at the same time, fun to watch. Not so fun for Sutil and Di Resta, who must be really frustrated. The car looked very strong in Malaysia, so it's a shame they have lost valuable points just like that.

Overall? I don't know. The race was dull at moments, then some other points were quite interesting, specially at the start. Oh, that first stop was amazing, the pit crews looked like they didn't know what to do with those cars parking in the pits. And the interviews at the end were quite the show. So overall it was entertaining, but perhaps the racing wasn't that good.

Oh, and as for waking up early. Just do it the right way and don't sleep at all. Way better.

Simply put, Rosberg and Webber don't have the talent to fight for the title, but their teammates do. However it happened doesn't matter, the best things for either of their teams have happened.
