it's all bernie's fault. he is making this part of the world run races to suit europe. i bet it would have been a better race if it was done at the normal race time, instead of late afternoon.

still a great race.

Bernie is making other parts of the world run races to suit Europe but taking races away from Europe. That would seem counter intuitive but I am not an ancient garden gnome so my form of logic need not apply.

Could you please figure out the race time in Malaysia and what it was in Europe?

I´m sure you will find out that times are actually better in Malaysia then Europe. I went up at 10am, instead of the normal 3 a clock races.

Then Australia was extremely early in the morning.

We did that under the red flag. The fact that the sun was setting in post race stuff is evidence itself. Stop trying to make an argument for arguments sake.

But how is that a bad thing? Do you know when the sun goes down in Malaysia?

Europeans have to watch it in the morning, Malaysians can watch it in the evening, why is that such a pro-europe thing?

Sunset in Malaysia is at 19:23, yea that is just a horrible time to watch an F1 race.
(especially when you consider the race was red-flagged meaning longer race)
It´s extremely bad as well that they have their whole day to do whatever it is they want to do and then at around 4-5 can go to the track and watch an F1 race. Then get back home, talk about it, do some other stuff then go to bed for tomorrow´s work.

Yes that sounds like a super bad time.

Is Australia time also a pro-europe time where we have to go up at 7am on a Sunday?
Any more conspiracies?

bernie is making more money from moving F1 races around. he gets a slice when a new contract is made, then makes a piece from the new track that must be made. he is taking them out of europe because other parts of the world will spend $billions to get F1, whereas europe will not.

the sooner he dies, the better

Agreed with glendo here. I remember having so much fun waking up 4:30 in the morning while everybody at home was still asleep. Then making some coffee to prevent myself from falling asleep again, picking something warm to cover myself and just setting down on the couch. And after the race going back to sleep with no one noticing my presence. It's was something surreal it was like a tradition to start the season in the early morning hours. Besides if you are a true fan - you will wake up no matter what Bernie only does this for the bigger audience a.k.a. MONEY.

How many races are inside Europe vs how many races are in Asia/Middle East/America?

You sound like you don´t want F1 to be a global sport.

just for the record for all you europeans, we down here (australia) have to watch F1 roughly at these times:

europe/mid east: 11pm sundays
americas: 3am mondays
asia/australia (now) 4-6pm sundays

australia (where i live) used to start the races at the normal time of 2pm.. which would of been 0600 in london. Bernie wanted more ratings, more advertising money so he has made the races later and later in australia. (you would of noticed the sun setting in melbourne last week whilst the race interviews were on)... and that's why singapore is a night race. he has warned that australia will have to become a night race if it wants to renew the contract in 2015 ... and he is threatening to move it all together as he can probably sell it to Uzbekistan or some other developing world for a premium.

he wants to move them to countries that need to make tracks, and tilke and him make a killing from it. ever track since malaysia in 99 has been tilke built, and every track since then has had to be made... France will be the exception because Bernie owns it.

Bernie makes money on Formula 1 track development just as much as TV rights... in fact he has handed over a lot of the TV rights to the stock market, but the track building business is his.

The only problem with having it more globally, is that many of the good classic tracks (most of which in Europe) can't be used.

There is nothing wrong with having it globally. F1 is a global sport and needs races in all continents.

PS: Most of the popular sports in America are local (or mainly Local). Nascar, American Football, Basketball, Ice Hockey etc

i love F1... it is a global sport, but why is bernie manipulating it to the benefit of european audiences? why does asian / australian races have to wait until the end of the day (or night race) instead of using the best time of the day.

may i ask why isnt there any night races in europe?

Ok so why isn´t Suzuka, Korea, China night races?

They are on the other side of the planet from Europe. Just like Singapore, Abu Dhabi etc.

Does he also invade countries, demanding that they build a track then hire Tilke to do the job? Now i´ve heard everything :)

Lol wow this kids really are dumb, or just found out F1 is an INTERNATIONAL motor sport since forever, hence Bernie is just trying to branch out to other parts of the world instead of focusing too much in Europe. Wow people this days -.-'
Also why times are diferent is because if you didnt know til now the Earth Rotates, if every race was set at 2pm GP local it would be just meh. Adding some time variety is not gonna kill you.

You guys shouldnt even complain, its worse for americans, especially the non EU races. But thats why i sacrifice my sleep to watch a race at 3 am

We have to wake up at crazy times as well. Australia is still annoyingly early but it´s ok because what would you not do for F1.
As for night tracks.. i don´t know. Possibly it could be because there just isn´t that much money in Europe to begin with.
I bet Monaco would be the first choice and it might come in the future.

abu dhabi is a sunset race, which if you look into it will roughly fall on the same time as the singapore night race with TV time slots.

and Hamilton cut across while the movie wasn't fully completed.

Ah so he got distracted, the movie hadn't finished yet:p

Oh lord, go to hell with your dumb conspiracies! That's BS. It's not every day a Sauber gets on the podium(Counting the BMW-Sauber time, that was in 2009 when Kubica finished third in Interlagos, in the old Sauber days it apparently was 2003 at the American GP at Indy where H-H Frentzen finished third aswell.

I am also a bit sad he made the mistake when he could have been sitting there and pressuring Alonso for 5 laps, but a 2nd is a 2nd place, amazing pace that Checo showed today, brilliant!

Williams get some points finally too, although it's Senna this time while Maldonado's luck is incredible.

Again, why isn´t Japan, China and Korea night races?

I mean that would be the best possible time slot for europeans.
Abu Dhabi ends in night light, that is the reason they have lights around the track.

Race starts at 17pm in Abu Dhabi. Sunset is at 17.41 in Abu Dhabi.

[sarcasm] man what a shitty time they got lolzor!!![/Sarcasm]

Or it could be that the sun simply sets very early in Abu Dhabi.
The whole idea behind the track was to create something very special in terms of everything.
which they did. But it was not to cater for the supreme europeans.

Id enjoy an Australian night race. It would be a whole day and nights entertainment. Hell, most of our other sports happen at this time, why not F1? That it would be benifical to European viewers is just a win win for everyone :) It may not happen yet, but one day....

i'd probably lean towards the agreements that bernie signs with the countries at the time. the old crack pot signed the korean contract before the singapore one if i remember correctly, and of course the china one was earlier than both of them. japan has been around for years of course.

australia's contract is coming up for renewal. the night race/tv times thing is a newer concept, and he probably cannot get them to change as yet... malaysia re-signed up 2yrs ago... in line with changes to the times.

enough for tonight, it's almost midnight, time to sleep for work tomorrow....

p.s. do some google-ing on F1 and you will see some of the dirty business bernie has been involved in. i've been watching F1 for 25yrs religiously and what he is doing to F1 the last 10 yrs is ruining it slowly.

back on topic:
still a great race today
