Fantastic race to end a great season! Woke up earlier than I usually do on Sundays to watch the race live. It's only once a year that an F1 season ends, so losing some sleep to see the race live was worth it.
There were various points in the race that Alonso was the provisional champion, but, of course, Vettel had another great drive to barely scrape enough points to win.
The race itself was really exciting, probably the most exciting i've seen at all. (I didn't get to see the 2008 finale, but from the looks of it, it was pretty amazing) The championship was on the line and the track kept changing conditions, you can't write this type of drama.
I see a lot of people lack a sense of sportsmanship, I personally don't consider Vettel among my favorite drivers but I have to give it to him that he beat Alonso fair and square through the points and thus deserves to be champion. I commend him on a well-fought season and congratulate him on winning his third F1 title.
Sad to see Speed lose it's F1 coverage, I got a little teary when they passed that final segment with little snippets of their coverage through the years. If it wasn't for their coverage I probably would've never gotten so into F1 as I am now. I know a lot of people gave them crap for broadcasting the races from a studio in the US, but I thought they did a damn good job. Varsha was always on top of things, Steve Matchett is a genius and can break down every part of an F1 car, and David Hobbs is just being himself(with Varsha there to correct him when he says something wrong). Seeing Sam Posey say his final few lines to end it all finally made some tears that I was holding back come out. I've been watching Speed's coverage since my early teens and realizing that I will never hear that intro tune again before an F1 race definitely saddened the kid in me.
