Whoever thinks F1 is just about the drivers really needs to learn more about the sport. There is not one single WDC out there who has won in a bad car. They may or may not have had the best car, but every WDC became champ in a good car.

To be the champ you need:

- a good car
- a good driver
- a good team supporting the car and the driver

and finally to be WDC you also need

- some good luck along the way
he is implying drivers...not comparing drivers with cars.

we are talking about the human physical being itself with the characteristics and skills each provide. body, brain, mind, etc, you cannot compare each driver with different machinery until everything is 100% the same.

but yes I agree with your luck part.

It was an incredible race. A bit disappointed with the result, but it was really exciting all the way through.

And don't get me wrong, Vettel is clearly a great driver. But just how ********** lucky can you get?

Vettel turned into Senna, gets spun, gets hit by Perez, has unrepairable damage in the floor. The car still flies.

Alonso was great again, and Massa did a really oustanding team effort in the first laps. It's really great for him that he got to get on the podium in his home race after his race. Button had a good race again, and wins the first and the last race of the season. It was a real shame for Hamilton though, ending his final race with McLaren with a DNF.

yeah quiet true.

I really dont get Ham and Hulk crash investigated while Vet and Senna not even looked at, I mean its a non contact sport, no matter whos fault it was really? where is the FIA consistancy? even if Senna was at fault....

Im sure its being looked at or maybe its already been looked at, have some faith in the officials.

The flag incident is interesting. Pat Fry says its not a yellow and I read on F1 technical that he said even if it was, Kamui pitted straight after so Vettel had no chance of returning the position.

Fry was referring to waved flags in sector 2 but as far as I recall Vettel overtook Kamui in sector 3. It would be preety interesting if the FIA wouldn't even consider to analyse this. So what Koba entered the pits? It is a violation of the rules - overtaking on yellow flags. It's not that I want Vettel to be penalised but I want total fairness. Although he's not my favorite he proved once again he has skills.

red and yellow "slippery track/oil" flags. Not yellow caution flags.

How about when Alonso messed up his braking point going into turn #1 in the early laps of the race and then clearly cut across the track in order to maintain track position. He didn't do this just once (messing up and cutting the track), he did it twice though the second time likely would not have resulted in losing track position because there was nobody close to him the second time he messed up.

They gave Vettel a 20 second penalty in Germany for leaving the track gaining an advantage. If you were truly honest about wanting to be fair, you would also acknowledge that Alonso should be given one maybe two 20 second penalties in Brazil for cutting the track to maintain his advantage of track position. :sneaky:

Nope. The rule states that you cannot gain an advantage by going off track. However, it does not matter if you loose 0.1 sec or 15.

Meanwhile, Petrov gave Caterham a miraculous 11th place which means they 10th in constructors championship, he made team bosses very happy. Kovalainen sounded extremely angry and blamed poor strategy. Looks like he's out. 1 race win, 1 pole. Goodbye Heikki.

I'm not quite sure Alonso gained time by cutting the corner the first time, actually Hulk passed him so he lost time and places. And regarding the second time, I don't quite remember what was the state of the track but I think it was getting wet while he still was on slicks. I'm not 100% sure how the marshals react in these situations but I think that was fair.

Just to be crystal clear I'm not fond of Alonso either. Of the two, yeah, I prefer the spaniard but Alonso is far from being my favorite. Heck, Massa is even ahead of Fernando in my list :p

edit: Btw. Sebastian looked rather nervous before the start and uncomfortable with the results during FP and Q. It would have been interesting to see him not taking the title. I mean his reactions/ behaviour would have been interesting.

It's just a curiosity, if I can say that. Whenever I saw him being interviewed (not many times) but especially after today's race he gave me that impression. It's a shame...

I'm running sky sports in the background and they're showing the replay of the race right now. Vettel clearly overtook Kobayashi on the yellow flags/lights waaaaaaaay beyond the pit lane entry.
