Kunos Simulazioni have kept very quiet regarding Assetto Corsa EVO - but now, the most-anticipated racing simulation of 2024 has a Steam page including screenshots and the first bits of info.

When it comes to eagerly anticipated racing sims set to launch in 2024, there is no way around Assetto Corsa EVO. Information on the successor to Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione has been sparse thus far, as Kunos Simulazioni had only revealed the name of the upcoming game alongside the release of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife for ACC.

Now, sim racers finally get some more nuggets of information, as well as a number of screenshots: The Assetto Corsa EVO page in the Steam store is live, and it is not just there for fans to wishlist the game. Instead, several screenshots as well as the system requirements for the PC version can be found there as well, allowing fans to draw the first conclusions about the sim.

Circuits & Cars in AC EVO

Many had been wondering about whether or not AC EVO would be purely focused on racing cars, or if it would be a return to the broad spectrum of content available in the original Assetto Corsa. The new Steam page answers this question somewhat, with most of the cars that are shown (in part, anyway) being road-going vehicles. The only exception is a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992), while manufacturers show include Hyundai, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo and Alpine.

In addition to the first batch of vehicles, a few racing circuits can also be spotted among the screenshots. The most obvious - and possibly most important for many sim racers - is the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. Alongside the infamous Green Hell, the Autodromo di Imola with its characteristic kerbs at Variante Alta is visible. Other shots are harder to make out - we have a feeling that they could show Oulton Park or Brands Hatch, but be sure to let us know your guesses in the comments!

Aside from the screenshots, more info on AC Evo itself is included in the short description text. Kunos state that the sim will inlcude "different classes spanning across yeas of motoring history. From road cars, classics, hypercars, and race cars. The most iconic representation of the automotive and motorsport world."

"Proprietary, high-performance engine"

This is achieved via a new, "proprietary, high-performance photorealistic engine", which will also support VR and triple screens from the get-go, confirming Kunos Founder Marco Massarutto's statement from a few weeks ago. Players can also look forward to a "new mathematical model" that "meticulously simulates asphalt performacnce in different dynamic weather conditions that guarantees an authentic and realistic experience which will redefine the standards that have made Assetto Corsa globally renowned."

A lot of superlatives, then, but sim racers would likely be underwhelmed by anything but new technology aimed at being the industry leader. To run this tech, it does not appear that a NASA-style supercomputer will be necessary, however, as the system requirements on the Steam page indicate.

Assetto Corsa EVO System Requirements

Unfortunately, the Steam page does not indicate anything other than '2024' as for the release date - but with this first real bunch of information, sim racers will be all the more eager - and probably impatient - to find out more about Assetto Corsa EVO.

Kunos titles never looked bad so no surprise there. Minimum requirements look quite a bit steeper than claimed in the article - atleast I don't know when my GFX was minimum spec when a new game released last time. So it will be interesting to see how it runs and looks in general, I suspect it will run worse than LMU, AMS2 or AC. And on top of that it'll be interesting to see how they go on about the weak points of AC - lack of proper rule sets, very few options for setting up race weekends, no proper rain and night cycle or weather out of the box and most importantly, terrible AI. Let's hope it isn't as much of a shortcut as it's prequel.

I can’t imagine Kunos being stupid enough to not realize mods is what has kept AC alive for the last 10 years. So the question would rather be do they *want* a game that lasts 10 years?!
Maybe they rather want us to buy a new game every 2 years, or even F1’s yearly cycle. Pretty sure that would make them more money, which ultimately is what counts.
Some of us would likely jump ship and keep our beloved AC instead, but the majority might not really care that much, unfortunately.

I’m cautiously optimistic that the game will be fun to play, the question is for how long…

Was AC ever actually marketed as being moddable? Not as far as I remember.

Yes, it was up front. They then gradually rowed back on modding and officially stopped supporting it in their own forum around the time they did the big deal with Porsche IIRC.

I don't blame them for that, I suspect it's much easier to convince companies to partner with you this way, but I wish they'd confirm their plans one way or another ASAP.

I'm hoping that the Internet connection requirement is only for the download and not for the running of the game,
As for mods, I can't see any reason for it's exclusion unless they're thinking of moving into Gran Turismo territory and that seems unlikely (though that could explain the Internet requirement)

Unfortunately, after Aris Vasilakos left, my expectations are pretty low. If it ain't broke, don't fix it—just keep it updated with meaningful improvements. But it feels like the new team has the same issue as Rennsport... every morning they must be asking themselves: What's our goal? Are we brave enough to admit that without mod support, we're doomed from the start?
Aris was pretty much the main figure when what we got was the retarded diseased brother of AC which has broken FFB and not really good feeling physics. Aka "ACC".

And what is the deal with comments like "Oh my god they didn't mention X in that single paragraph! That means it's definitely not gonna be in the game!! We are DOOMED FOREVER!!!"

Just chill and wait till more info is shared. They didn't talk about MP or career either, I somehow think that such stuff will be there.

In times when the word quality means nothing to any professional or company, it would be nice to see that good things last a reasonable time. A brand that stands by the motto of quality should be appreciated. Life is more beautiful when quality shines through!

I don't see how modding will be priority right away.

There is so many cars and tracks that would be converted to AC Evo on day 1 it would ruin any chance of DLC revenue going forward.

The way I see it.

If they go early access way.

They will keep adding DLC's and eventually release mod tools.

Those system specs look very promising. Gonna assume they just building on current AC graphics engine. Hopefully switched to proper industry standard PBR etc.

Handy that my 5 year old "gaming" PC is right at the minimum specs. Might be an issue since I want to run triple screens and I imagine they benchmark at 1080p.

Really good point about DLC revenue if they allow mods from day one. I assume most people just want confirmation that they will definitely be adding modding support some time down the line but I agree that if mods are supported from launch, everyone and their mothers will be converting cars and tracks so how would they make money from their own DLCs.

Your point is totally right from game industry perspective in general... but Stefano is different guy...
20 years ago he released what was easily the best physics at time with netKar (Namie)... and it was FREE for all... he is a passionate!
And to all... of course, Assetto Corsa EVO will be "moddable"...
Kunos is at simracing, what Neo is at the Matrix...

Not a big tech guy, so can someone explain to me why a SSD HD is required?
More and more game have this requirement now, it has to do with the ability of the game to draw faster, preventing asset to pop up.
Does not mean it will not run on a HDD, but the performance might not be as good. Time will tell.
I run all my SIM on HDD, and I have never noticed a performance difference when using my SSD, except for the longer initial loading time, but once in play, all the same.
We will see how it goes for ACE.
