On the iOpener website there is a very interesting article about an upcoming World Rally Championship simulator:

World Rally Championship's next game: Racing live against rally heroes

The next generation WRC computer game will allow players to 'compete' in live rallies", states ISC chairman Neil Duncanson in the April version of SportBusiness International magazine. ISC, the global promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC), mentions WRC's ultimate goal as building up an online gaming world championship alongside the real thing.
ISC and the computer gaming industry believe the next step in gaming is this 'live' competition between gamers and real drivers, made possible through iOpener's patented technology.
ISC CEO Simon Long says: "Now we are a global promoter, we want this to be multi-platform, multi-publisher, multi-territory."
For Long and Duncanson the new game is part of WRC's broader efforts to appeal new fans beyond the hardcore enthusiastics. FIA's chairman Max Mosley has said the virtual champion will be honoured at the WRC's annual end-of-season awards ceremony in Monaco.

Last April we already brought you the first news about iOpener Media's beta testers recruitment for their Real Time Racing project.

The news about this technology where virtual racers can compete against the real drivers on the track in real time is now spreading amoung the simracing communities.

iOpener is still looking for the worlds best simracers to join their beta test program that's about to start soon. If you are interested in joining then you can sign up on the RTR website

Just for PC users.

I have to ask this question, as it's been bugging me, so please don't take this the wrong way!
But, why would anyone buy this rally game, when the best for almost everything, except graphics is Richard Burns Rally? I just can't fathom out the rationale in this particular instance.
I'm probably just too dense to work it out.

Because, like the last incarnation, it can be modded to make it superb. One day someone will come out with a mod that completely changes the physics for the better. WRC3 is superb now that we have a physics mod and the graphics far surpass the king (RBR).

What I'd like to see is a stage length selector much like you can change the level of damage, ai difficulty, driving aids, etc.

easy = stages up to 4-5km
med/norm = stages up to 8km
hard = up to real world stage length

On hard, I wouldn't say every stage needs to be the real length, but at least 1 or 2 iconic stages per rally/location. And no stage should be shorter than 8-10km, unless of course it's a SSS or something.

Dear Racedepartment community,
I am new player in WRC series and I need your help with car setups. Is there site or table of contents what is best setup for each stage and country? I tried search but I didn't find.

Best regards,
Equation

Don't! Just, don't! Please Michael! Don't!
I haven't bought it. It's just that I've had all the three previous and there have been a smaller amount of better things for each year. Like they just don't care to much. I don't think that have changed from the looks of it.

May the console version too arcady. Do not compare it to WRC2010, which was a big disappointment, but WRC 3 was a big step forward). I hope WRC 4 will be another to the right direction.

itrdc5, what is your opninion about the game?
Yes we all know, it is not a simulator like RBR, and we know that never be the same physics, but is it fun enough to a sim-lover? In your video seems that you really enjoyed it :)

May EC Simhardware should release their Advanced Physics for this version too. Or the game contains already it (triple screen, 900° wheel turn, etc.)?

Game is fun. So far I've done 3 rallies and it's like Dirt 3 with hairpins after hairpins, ie. it's like WRC 3. However, the FFB is down and I did lose sound once. Had to restart the game to get it back.

Hopefully there will be DLC for Group B or other cars, like the Peugeot 504 in WRC 3. Otherwise it's a bit ironical they support H-pattern now but is missing those H-pattern cars.

It supports triple screen, 900° wheel turn and seem to be fine with multiple controllers out of the box but I think Advanced Physics would be most welcomed.

If your reason for living is to tackle the next corner, you'll probably enjoy this. It's also a good workout for reflexes :)

PS. I'm a big fan of RBR but I also enjoy this. If you ever played Colin McRae (playstation controller days) series of games, you should enjoy this too.
