On the iOpener website there is a very interesting article about an upcoming World Rally Championship simulator:

World Rally Championship's next game: Racing live against rally heroes

The next generation WRC computer game will allow players to 'compete' in live rallies", states ISC chairman Neil Duncanson in the April version of SportBusiness International magazine. ISC, the global promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC), mentions WRC's ultimate goal as building up an online gaming world championship alongside the real thing.
ISC and the computer gaming industry believe the next step in gaming is this 'live' competition between gamers and real drivers, made possible through iOpener's patented technology.
ISC CEO Simon Long says: "Now we are a global promoter, we want this to be multi-platform, multi-publisher, multi-territory."
For Long and Duncanson the new game is part of WRC's broader efforts to appeal new fans beyond the hardcore enthusiastics. FIA's chairman Max Mosley has said the virtual champion will be honoured at the WRC's annual end-of-season awards ceremony in Monaco.

Last April we already brought you the first news about iOpener Media's beta testers recruitment for their Real Time Racing project.

The news about this technology where virtual racers can compete against the real drivers on the track in real time is now spreading amoung the simracing communities.

iOpener is still looking for the worlds best simracers to join their beta test program that's about to start soon. If you are interested in joining then you can sign up on the RTR website

I downloaded and installed the new Physics from EC Sim. Unfortunately the frigging retarded download service they use made me download the physics file twice and when I went to download the plugin, it told me I have to wait 6 hours. Imbeciles.
Anyway, I installed the phisics and something very strange happened. I have a G25 and I had created a profile for WRC3 that worked just fine. My G25 and the on screen wheel were at least close in range. The onscreen wheel is a bit behind but the driving was fine.
I think I had set it at around 400 degrees or close to that.
Today I go driving and I have to turn my wheel 3 times to make a half turn in the game.
I tried all sort of different ranges but finally the only one drivable was to set my G25 at 117 degrees. Still, I had to turn my wheel 180 degrees to get a 1/4 turn on screen, but better than the alternative. It was like driving a school bus.
This is the first time I drive the new physics. Is it because I am missing the plugin? Should I wait until I can download it?
it sure it's frustrating to have to drive like this. Other than that, the new physics feel pretty good.

Thank you.

OK, I solved the mystery on my own. I had started ERC3 as an administrator to see if I would gain anything by it. Sure enough, I did because by starting as an admin I was able to navigate the tabs in the Car Setup screens by pressing F5 and F6. So I kept starting like that, except that the steering was terrible. At first I didn't correlate the two things but I just tried to start normally and the steering is back to normal. So I have a choice of:

a) Don't steer the car but set it up
b) Don't setup the car but be able to drive it.

Easy choice. Hopefully they will fix this mess.

I like the new Physics, but I noticed that on mud (whales) it had practically no grip at all, especially at very low speed where at least laterally just the mud buildup should shore up the car from sliding too much.

In general I noticed that low speed grip was affected too much making the car turn around unrealistically in my opinion. At speed it is almost perfect.

Incidentally, while testing the new Physics, I also tested launching the game as administrator. I thought that this is what made my wheel behave totally wrong, with having to turn it 180 degrees to get a 25 degrees on screen. Also, at time I would turn the wheel for small corrections and it only registered a second or two later. Too late at times. I think I'll need to test again to make sure what caused that.

As others have brought up, it would be great to find a fix for the engine sound disappearing on USB headphones with 7.1 sound. Maybe remapping the channel?

Another thing: normally I am unable to navigate the car setup tabs in any way. Either with pedals or F5/F6 keys. When I start as admin, suddenly the F5/F6 keys work great. Given that my only trick would be to work on the setup of the cars while the game runs as admin and then use those setups running the game normally. Kind of cumbersome.

Another issue with the UI is that running the game normally, I cannot navigate up and down in the advanced wheel settings. Every time I launch it randomly falls on one of the sliders, so after many tries I am usually able to set it up, but I can't understand why my up and down arrow keys don't work in normal mode.

I'll do more testing and report back.

EDIT: another couple of things I am experiencing are:

1) I am unable to view the replays without the scoreboard in front. If I hit the control keys the scoreboard disappears but the sound goes with it.

2) I have no tachometer. None at all. Not a big deal but it's strange.

3) I just tested launching the game as administrator and the steering is pretty bad. So maybe that's the cause rather than your new Physics. Sound is still missing through Logitech G35 headphones, but I can navigate the car setup screens.

was really keen to try this mod as it looks awesome so i downloaded the latest version yesterday. placed the files in my WRC3 folder and unfortunately the game wouldn't start. kept getting an error message saying "WRC3 has stopped working."

deleted all the files, started the game, and now it works fine :O_o:

anyone got any idea what's causing this with the mod files in there? running Win 7 64-bit Professional.

Jason. I just checked and the page is secure. You can donate freely. In fact, I will do the same as soon I am sure I am going to use their work.

The only warning you get on the paypal payment page is that while the page is encrypted, some items are not.

This is a long standing Paypal problem that would take them very little to solve: if you upload your header graphic instead of using just your name in plain text on the payment page, they result as "not encrypted". IE especially gives you a nasty warning that scares a lot of people away.

I wish Paypal solved this. They need to set up those pages so that the banner headers with your logo they let you upload, were stored on the same area that's under the https encryption.

Since that too has security implications, they should just process the image and place a copy there. If you r-click on the header and choose "Copy Image URL" or "Properties" (depending on your browser) you'll see that the link for the imge is:

Code:
http://ecsimhardware.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/EC_Sim_Shop_Paypal_Header.jpg

Whenever that happens the page results as "not secure" because some elements are not encrypted.

That means nothing as far as the security of the transaction, but I'll bet paypal lost millions in transaction fees because of this.

I have the same problem. I cant turn with this mod. First problem is that everytime i run wrc3 i have to change screen setings etc in th advanced plugin window. They dont save. Second, i cant adjust the wheel settings, in the game turning is very bad. Can anyone help me with these 2 problems?
Thanks

In the Milestone/WRC3 folder the plugin file called WRC3plugin.
Copy it to your desktop, then open with note pad and change the video settings to 1920-1080 (save). Then copy and replace the file back into Milestone/WRC3 folder.
That should solve the video screen settings for you.

ASPECT=1777
XRES=1920
YRES=1080

Like Filios, I'm experiencing the same steering issues with the plugin. I"m using a G25 and no matter where I choose to make adjustments (Plugin or Ingame), its impossible to steer! Feels like the first 45 degrees either way is just a deadzone...

Can anyone help?
