United States & Canada

I wanted to stop by and introduce myself and a group of guys that will be joining the racedepartment family in the next week or so. ...

You guys have a great community here. Thanks for having us.

Welcome Jarrod. It's really cool to see the North American community growing. Looking forward to seeing you on the track!

How about you trust me on the fact I will have live NA topics in the main forum?

well go ahead then. you asked for our feedback only to reject it and say it's wrong, so go ahead and move it, sounds like you're going to no matter what anyway.

I personally like the NA forum the way it is. It's hard to find, which I think could be looked into, but when I get on RD I open up tabs for the general GTR forum, the racing league forum, and the NA forum. I like having stuff kind of spread out a little bit. Makes everything feel bigger, and like there's a certain place in the forum just for me. I don't know if I'm for, or really against, merging the forum with the GTR forum. I agree with a little of what everyone is saying.
I think Eric and the rest of the RD staff will make take our thoughts and advice and make the best choice for the NA community though.

Edit: I do like the sense of NA community though. Even with the EU guys coming here, it still feels like a family. We have a section for skins, and showing what we look like, even though there are posts with the exact same content elsewhere on the forums(offtopic, GTR section, etc) it's still nice to have a more local version here.

Matt, first of all I only replied to your arguments. Not sure where did it say the move will happen no matter what? Second, take a look at the posts in this forum? Whose name do u see over and over? I am making sure to keep everyone engaged and active. What says I wont keep that up in the open forum?

Car paint idea

Hey guys. I am looking for some input on some ideas I have for the paint job I'm going to be doing on my car. I have 5 designs and can't decide which one to do so I thought I'd put it to our lovely community.

Four of the designs are rising sun inspired. The fifth is a concept drawing that a very talented artist friend drew.

First up is this.
#1 Basic white with a rising sun on the hood. Very popular in the Datsun 510 community. I like it's simplicity and style, but it's a bit overdone.

#2 Basic white with the rising sun on the side of the car. Pardon the horrible drawing, I'm at work and don't have decent art programs to work with(even if I did it would look the same :p). Anyway, it keeps the Ratsun style rising sun but throws it on the side for a bit of a unique turn on the original. My sister suggested maybe doing it only on one side of the car, as well. Keep in mind the sun beams would be a lot smaller, as there has to be 18 red and 18 white.

#3 Basic white with just a Japanese flag-styled sun on the side. No rays of light. Offset towards the rear of the car, just barely over the rear wheel well. Simple, but still has traits from the Ratsun rising sun.

#4 is another variation of #1. Rising sun on the roof instead of the hood. Car would be painted white though, not green.
#5 is probably my favorite, but will be the hardest to do. Again this was drawn by a friend from the Datsun forums I visit. It's his Datsun 510 street fighter concept. The car would have rivets all over, along with the paint job, to mimic a WWII fighter plane. I obviously couldn't do the exhaust the way it is in the picture due to road laws, but I might be able to do similarly styled exhaust near the rear of the car.

My personal choice and what I voted for

Sean,

We'll have some club events so that you can test them out. Dip your toe in so to speak..... You'd like our group and that class. What's not to like.... driving vettes, astons, lambos, ferraris etc. Come give it a shot.

Welcome Jarrod!

I love the GT cars (especially the GT Pro cars), but being on the west coast, I generally cannot run until about 9-10 PM PST (Midnight or so your time) on weekdays. :(

I do try to make the Sunday enduros though, and I try to con Eric into as many GT events as possible!:thumb:

Hi Jarrod and welcome.

We have spoken before and done a little racing together I believe. I enjoy gt cars and most cars in Evo except maybe the F3000. You guys will like it here its a great mix of personality's, speed and most of all clean racers. Hope to see ya out there. Marty

it doesn't say that anywhere, i said it sounds like it, just my opinion. i guess i just don't see the point in getting rid of the NA area, that's all. and i have no doubt you'll continue to engage us in conversation, but as some people have pointed out, our conversations will be more open to the hundreds of people that surf the Evo area. in effect i think it would get rid of our uniqueness, we will no longer be the NA guys, we'll just be the Evo guys that happen to live in NA.

iv'e always enjoyed racing with the jc's on the public servers.

The more points of view I see on this topic the more I think it should remain as is for now. Our forum here is pretty active and its about us. If there was not much new going on here then maybe we should consider the move. There are many who contribute to the new posts and I feel that will increase as it has already with new members coming on. Its working lets not disrupt it.

We all owe a huge thanks to Yves for getting it all started and to Eric for his leadership and efforts to keep it going. There are many others to thank in support of all this. Thanks Guys:go-away:
