The upcoming TT Isle of Man 2 videogame is set to benefit from the collaboration of not one, but two real world active TT riders.

Working together with Davey Todd (Honda) and Julien Toniutti (quadruple French Elite champion), KT Racing have confirmed the partnership as part of a bid to improve and enhance the physics and handling for the new title - an aspect that has long been a point of contention with gamers who played the original TT Isle of Man game that released back in 2018.

From the KT Racing press release:

Davey Todd is a young English rider who specialises in road racing and already has an impressive trophy haul at only 23 years old. In 2018, while preparing for his first Isle of Man TT, Davey decided to practise on his brother's console for two months so he could perfect his knowledge of the iconic 60km circuit. As a result, he was ranked 2nd in the game's worldwide leaderboards and became the second fastest newcomer of all time in the real race. In 2019 he proved his riding talents in his second appearance at the TT by finishing in the top 8 in all categories and achieving 6th place in the Senior Race.
2020 represents a new year full of ambition for Davey, who is also the TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2 ambassador and the face of the game.
Like Davey Todd, Julien Toniutti collaborated on the game's production by sharing his experience and impressions with the developers to help them create a strikingly realistic simulation and optimise all aspects of the riding physics.
"Competing in the TT is the ultimate dream of any rider. In TT Isle Of Man - Ride on The Edge 2, the aim is to reproduce the sensation of speed and adrenalin, as well as the concentration and control required for any Tourist Trophy rider, while the player sits comfortably in their chair, risk free," said Julien.
Julien Toniutti is an experienced rider who has taken part in the TT three times. In 2018 he beat the all-time fastest lap record for a French rider on the Isle of Man circuit and subsequently received the "Fastest French Road Racing Rider" award at the Paris Motorcycle Show.

lol "Collaborations with real riders" standard saying these days means very little

<cough>GRID 2019<cough>

OTOH if they can improve the handling and optimize the engine they still have a great track. The sense of speed on some parts of the course is pretty unique.

Problem with KT is that its always a little (or more) off and never really fixed. You have to hope the next game fixes it... Not sure I am as willing to try yet another KT near miss unless I see some raving reviews.

Nearly every sim and "sim" these days claims the same... feels more like mandatory "marketing checkbox".

Besides, how accurate feedback can real riders give, when they have to test with gamepads VS. real driving which is mostly body weight shift.

I guess they could say something valuable about it, but there's a limit how realistic motorcycling can feel on computers anyway (due to severely lacking control methods... compared to cars)

With this game it feels like they could have worked with physics and updated the original TT Isle of Man. I mean it's the same road, how much can a sequel offer. But that's the sim developer thinking, Kylotonn is more into generic developer thinking. With annual 60€ updates, as with WRC series too

As has been said, motorcycle games generally don't need rider input as much as they need really solid physics. Bike physics just seem to be harder to feel/look natural.

Especially in racing games, collaborations mean nothing unless there are real simracers involved and not real life pro racers.

Pro racers sure know how to go fast in real life, but most of them couldn't even drive NFS without crashing every 10 seconds.

Simracing has already become an e-sport or something, right? Collaborations with those guys would hold much more value.

I thought the first game handled great...way better than the ridiculous RIDE feel. Looking forward to this!! Love the feel of their first release
