Ok,please correct me if i am wrong ... i think that all the mods i tested that change the performance of cars make a little mistake concerning top speeds : those top speeds we see on the onboards videos are lower than the in the vanilla game because cars were tuned that way for the specific track ,and also taking into conisderation the fact that each team try to get a balance between quali and race !

I think that those speeds in vanilla game (time trial ) can be reached in real life if teams go for a 100% quali setup !

So,in my opinion it's useless to limit the top speeds in the game,modders should rather play with the acceleration and DRS effect only ! and if possible the handling of cars at different levels of downforce !
 
Hi snthenumbers. First i want to say thank you very much for this mod, it is brilliant. It makes the game so much more entertaining than before. However, I'm having an issue in loading the Nurburgring and Istanbul tracks. I've downloaded and installed the Istanbul files linked to by yourself on the mod page. I have no idea where I've gone wrong, do you have any idea what the problem might be?

The goal was to reproduce realistic race speeds as much as I could. Of course I could have made the AI much faster requiring the Player to put far more effort into car setup, but it's impossible to program around everyone's driving style and setup preferences, so I had to set some form of standard. So I used the setup the AI uses (aka leave the AI cars alone), and programmed the feel of the Player's car to be competitive to the AI. Remember the main focus of this mod is better competition with the AI, exact realism comes second.
 
Every time I try to start a Nurburgring or a turkish grand prix, my game crashes to desktop with steam coming up with "Failed to start game (app already running)"
 
Okay, I've checked qualifying at Spa, went out and in to the pits manually without accelarating time and indeed, the AI doesn't drive crazy laps. I drove a 1:51.641 while Vettel did a 1:51.777 in Q1. The Marussias and Caterham were 6.4 secs behind. But in general the key to succeed to compete against an overpowered AI in qualify is found !!
 
I wonder. This "key" was stated months ago here already, you still or again were discussing about AI's times when timeshifting? Surprising. Maybe decreasing the virtual performance would decrease their times in these moments ;)
 
The mod Glubb linked to works a charm. Tracks are fine now. Download the mod, copy and paste the content into the F1 2012 folder, overwrite. Then copy the 4.1 version of True-to-life-ai into the folder as well and overwrite again.
 
Haha, so you did both snthennumbers ;) nice to see, good work.
I've compared your new ai_vehicle_track.xml files with the ones I took from Kristian Nenov on my almost-pro-track_difficulties and here's my summary:

Istanbul:
Your AI drives ~2 sec faster than KN which means ~4 sec faster than default;
but I had 4 DNF with broken engine (I never had before, raced this track very often)

Nürburgring:
Your AI drives ~1,4 sec faster than KN which means ~3,5 sec faster than default;
had 1 DNF due to broken engine, 2 DNF (like usual due to corner #3, Coulthard reminded me of 1998 driving backwards haha) and 1 DSQ (CM's penalty system at its best haha, my AI driver got 2 pens for just standing in the corner #3 between cars for causing collision)

I still wonder about the broken engines but the AI surely runs much smoother and faster on these two tracks now, thanks for your hard work, buddy.
 
hi snthennumbers I made a few pictures to show you guys what happened to me with the AI, I can't figure out what's going on with the cars, when they hit each other they slow down and is a mess

someone could help me?

would you make a fix for the AI ?

I have a problem, I just installed the circuit nurburring 4.1, when I try to make a race crashes the game, it only works in test time, you know what to do?

PLEASE HELP ME
I was stuck in CAREER
