Thanks for this mod,snthennumbers. Absolutely brilliant. I have only had 4 races so far (racing for Toro Rosso), and the mod has made them absolutely fun to play.

I was wondering if you could help me with this... I tipically play 25% races, but I wanted to experience the tyre wear that only applies to 50% and above races, so my last race was 50%, and, man, was it really long for me (although compelling). I don't have much time to play, and one hour races are just too much. Are you aware of any parameter within the database/files that could adjust how long the races are? I mean, keeo them look like 50% in the menus, but then really being shorter.
Another thing I have experienced is that AI cars tend to crash a lot in my back, in most of the slow turns, maybe is my fault since I am not the best driver around, and I feel like I am being really slow on those turns....

You can do 25% and 50% races with the 50% database. You can do 25%, 50%, and 100% races with the 100% database.

As for AI crashing into your back...2 things you can try:
1. lower the difficulty level either in the game menu's, or with the "track_difficulty" table in the database.
2. Or, try racing with ABS enabled to see if you're just being too timid on the brakes.

I believe I did not explain myself properly, though.... I already understood that I can use the 50% database and have a 25% race lenght (this is what I am currentlydoing, except for my last race, where I choosed a 50% race lenght).

What I was really going after is to make, for example, the 50% lenght actually be only a 30%, for example, via a parameter adjustment somewhere....

Ah gotchya now. I haven't tested this, but I'm pretty sure you can do this:
You'll want to use the 50% database so the tyre wear is increased and you can feel it, but using the 50% database open the "track_model" table. Scroll over to the "num_laps" column. Set the number of laps as you prefer...however many you want to do at a given track. Just change one track to test. Save the database, then start a race at the track you just changed, and set the race distance to 100%. This should make it so you do the number of laps you just set.

If that works, it'll probably be best to save your values in an excel sheet, so you can easily copy/paste them into the databases of future releases of this mod.

The fix works good. Thanks for that. What I don't understand is, where the skin you included in TrueLifeAI is coming from? theoriginalskunk? I had the 2xHD version of v1teks mod installed. The gen_file in livery_main of the lotus has ~180 MB in that resolution. In your update the livery_00 and _01 have only ~33 MB and are obviously are not DHD and are not as crisp as I wish. The skin is also completely different than the one in v1teks 2013 mod. Where can I get a DHD version for each driver?

I can't play the game on full resolution, so I play at 1280x800....probably why I didn't notice this lol

So,i have finished season 1 with your mod and now in season 2(i play 25% race) i think it´s a bit harder on pro.On first season with Sauber was very funny.Now i´m by Ferrari and what can i say....Alonso is pretty hard to keep behind in the Races.Also the Renault,Kimi,are stronger at the moment.:thumbsup:
On the hardest level I still do not trust me quite:redface:

I'm playing with database changed this way for a few days, and must add that you'll need to change the fuel amount for the races. It's easy. Open database and go to the track_fuel_distance table, you'll see... must modify the column of your race distance, f.e. l100percent... otherwise you'll run a 25 lap race with fuel to do 70 laps... ;)

Now a few comments of my experience with changing database laps:
a) first i changed laps so 25% was 33%, in Bahrain (carreer with Ferrari in Professional) the ai was runnning in my same times but after a couple of laps began to run 2 secs slower, don't know why...so was very easy to win...
b) next i tried 100% = 25% but in Canada AI needs one pitstop less and was imposible to win... i tried to change tyre table but can't find a good balance to do as pitstops as Ai does...
c) now i'm playing with 50% = 35%, change fuel amount and leaving tyre table as it was... and all seems ok by now...

Not sure who the "you" is you're referring to. I'm not making customized databases for everyone's individual preferences, sorry.

Like jpablo21 said - it's not terribly hard to modify the database, so do a little reading and you'll be on your way.
The FAQ section at the bottom of my overview page has links to the programs you'll need to open the database, from there it's just following the instructions jpablo21 gave, and doing a little testing to get it all setup to your personal preference.

open up my skins cut out the names save them as dds and import them on to ur lotus car skin :)

Sorry, i don´t have that database, i was testing and now i've modified again. I'm not a modder but, like snthennumbers said, there's a lot of help in this forum and you can count with help from the other members. It's really easy to make changes but it takes a lot of time testing, adjusting and get it all to your personal preference.
 
So im gonna reinstall everything. Made a lot of noob mistakes installing the mods :S

We need to install official updates? 2 up to 5 and that patches?
 
Here is my review of some of the tracks. Race distance is always 25%+, often 50/100%, the car Im using is a Red Bull and occasionally Ferrari. No assist/legend AI/wheel.

Hungary (default set up) - The AI is actually pretty good, however if theres a lapped car they generally get stuck there and drop several seconds. I guess that cant really be fixed. Another thing I noticed is that they almost never overtake me, maybe a possible solution could be to slightly increase their rear grip so that their traction is increased and have a better exit out of the last turn. Another issue is that the AI slows down MASSIVELY in turn 14 if you are following them closely. They will take the inside line and defend there, however they slow down so much you can easily pass them on the outside.

Bahrain (default set up) - Same as Hungary, they slow down way too much in turn 5/6 if you are close to them. It should be close to impossible to overtake there, maybe you could make them to completely ignore the player in those corners. Other than that the AI is very competitive.

Italy (default set up) - The AI goes a little wide at turn 1 and thus get a crap exit on the following straight. Needless to say its very easy to make up a lot of time there.

Brazil (default set up) - I feel the AI could be maybe two tenths faster overall, its not very difficult to beat them. Another problem there is that they dont open the DRS until their car is completely straightened up (the activation point is on the exit of the corner) and almost never overtake me.

Spain (default set up) - The AI drops quite a bit of time in the final sector, especially the final chicane. Again increasing their rear grip could potentially allow them for better exit out of the final turn and actually overtake.

Korea (custom set up) - Very nice, the only flaw I have spotted is that they are much slower in qualy (full session) than they are in the race.

USA (custom set up) - AI is insanely fast, I would dare to say even too much? I was never able to win there even with a slightly modified setup. Most notably they have insane traction out of turn 11 and with the epic long DRS zone they just fly past you.

Malaysia (custom set up) - Again the AI is crazy fast, to me it seems their front grip is a bit too much (or the player's is too low) because Im not able to match their speed in turn 11/14 for example.

China - Its just hopeless because of the turn 1 issue, I dont even play it anymore.

Canada (custom set up) - Nice racing there, the AI is very competitive.

Abu Dhabi (custom set up) - Same as above.

India (default set up) - I was able to win with relative ease altough I dont remember exactly the issues, will test again.

SPA - Very competitive.


Thats pretty much it, I will try to test the remaining tracks over the next weeks or so.
 
Hey there, I noticed some problems with the fake qualifying stats in the database. Are these values edited or are they from the original database?

For example in monaco the williams cars are mostly in top 10 when starting a race directly without a real qualifying. So they are too slow for most of the cars driving directly behind them. Could you correct those times? :)
