Great mod, been using it and love it! Quick question: I'm testing setups and my times don't match the times other people post (they aren't using any realism mod). I couldn't find any explanation in the overview about this, but could you tell me if it's true that lap times are in fact slower with this mod? Because if not, it's because I did something wrong in the installation.(I'm using v1tek's season 2013 mod, only two mds I installed)

I restarted with another save game and I couldn't reach 297 kph in Young Drivers Test either. Just so I know, if lap times are indeed slower, did you change the default lap times the AI does? Because the player would be in a HUGE disadvantage if not :D

Anyway, thanks for the MOD and keep up the good work!

Laptimes are lower because of the altered gearing and aerodynamic values for all the cars (Player and AI both). This was Johnny Dangerously's contribution to this mod - it helps create more realistic top speeds at all tracks.

Install the "cars" folder after you've installed this mod, and completed the YDT.
This was just discussed right up further on this page: http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/true-to-life-ai.67176/page-30#post-1437534

Ohhh ok, thanks. So the AI will have lower lap times the same as the player, that's reasonable. I did manage to pass the YDT with mod installed anyway, but it was hard :D

Just finished Melbourne on Legend with Marussia, 50%. I was 2nd in FP3, qualified 11th which was kind of odd. A couple retirements in the race gifted me P9. A bit high up I think; I was over 1.5s quicker than Bianchi in all sessions and only 1.5s off the leaders' pace. It was the most fun race I've had so far though! Hamilton gave me one hell of a hard time for half the race but he ran wide into a gravel trap and that was the last I saw of him. They really don't back out of those corners anymore, it's really nice. I'll do Malaysia tomorrow and see if I'm still up there. I'm not blazingly fast normally; with the vanilla game I was consistently equal with my teammate or 1 or 2 tenths quicker on certain courses. Out-qualified him all the time but that's because I'm very brave with my DRS use in the corners.
I haven't touched your database or anything else (using the 50% db); is there a kind of "blanket" way of making them more competitive?

Glad you're enjoying it
About Marussia - are you doing a Career? If so...just keep going. I'm at Spa right now in my Career, in a Sauber, and I'm in 2nd place 8 points behind Alonso, and with a 10 point lead to Vettel. You'll have some great races, trust me ;)

Being more competitive - to be honest, unless I find some miracle value in the AI files, they're about as competitive as they can get. Aggression is set to 100% for all drivers, speed_in/out in the ai driver table in the database is set to 1 for Legend (as high as it can go) rather than 0.9.
The only thing you can try doing is giving the AI more grip for all tracks, but they already have 5% more grip than default. Again, if its a career...just keep going and see how things turn out.

Gotcha. I'm just trying to figure out how I got 1.5s faster all of a sudden! I'll look into the database and make sure the courses are all 1's.
The laptimes for all parties are generally lower with your db right? Or is that more of an effect from the CTF files? I think the pole time in Australia was like a 1:26.5 or something when before it was well into the 1:25 area.

Edit: Did some more reading, I see what I can do now. I'll try the default setups and, if I must, go after the CTF files. I know messing with the database will corrupt my save, but will changing the CTFs do anything?

can someone please tell me how to install the f1 2013 mod im new to this stuff

thanks

Yeah they kind of made a mess of packaging it all...
Start with the default game...find the installation folder (most likely at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\F1 2012

Then start digging into v1tek's mod until you find folders that match up with the same folder names in the game's directory. Copy & paste and overwrite.

Then do the same, but with my mod (don't do the cars folder yet from my mod yet)...saying yes to merge any folders, and overwrite any files.

Before installing cars folder, finish the young driver's test and save the game. Install cars folder and then continue your career.

You can change the CTF files as you see fit. As long as you put valid values in the CTF files, they won't break anything.

You can modify the database and not corrupt your profile, as long as you don't change any "ID" values in the database. Changing IDs is what causes profile corruption.

You never answered my question though - were you doing Season 1 Career races when you noticed your issue? Or was it just a quick race?

Guys a quick note. I re-enabled Valencia in the quick race selection menu. BUT:O_o:
Don't try to save your car setup, the game will crash. You can setup your car as you please, but just don't save it. I also changed the tyre compounds for Valencia to super soft / medium

Yeah, first race of Career mode. I did Malaysia and China earlier today without changing anything and it seems that Melbourne was a fluke. Finished 16th in a very rainy, extremely fun Malaysia (4 retirements) and 19th in China. Was running in 12th after the first round of pit stops but then I locked up into the hairpin. Thought Grosjean was past me as he was right behind, so I went to go back to the racing line and took his back end out. Drive-through penalty, but it was my fault so I didn't use a flashback. Qualified both races a couple tenths above Bianchi.
The driver placing is very, very realistic! I've noticed that Pic almost always beats Van der Garde, Gutierrez is always pretty far down the order, Button beats Perez, etc. Also noticed (pure coincidence I'm sure) that Maldonado retired in the first two races. :D
Also, and very thankfully, the leaders aren't shy about passing under blue flags. Before you had to practically stop to get them to pass.
I have nothing but positive feedback so far!

Edit: The Melbourne thing isn't isolated; I started again, same settings, same team, on a clean install (with the mods). Went 13th to 8th this time. Not sure what the teammate did, he somehow got stuck on the pit wall on lap 5 and stayed there until the end.
