The "What Are You Working On?" Thread

Seeing as Acura failed to give this video a proper check-over before going public with it I think I have some ideas for a weekend project.
hint.....Team Penske Rolex 24 2018 Montoya - Castroneves - tba

Don`t want to annoy you;), but the exhausts shown seem not to be the originals.

By watching the posted video with Gerhard Mitters own 1960 Mitter FJ driven by his son, imo both exhaust systems on the pictures shown, seem to be altered and modern replacement(the used material is another hint). The extreme long pipe on pic 2 is altered, only io to keep noise, smoke and exhaust gases away from driver(the muffler version was never used and build in the 50/60 ies)

The original Mitter exhaust is a much more a 2 stroke typical one.

It has more length between the cones, this one was build for maximum power on high revvs and has the common short small pipe at the end, the way they were build.
A pic with the original exhaust:

And Mitters original exhaust looks better and sounds aaaawesome...

Perhaps you may use this one?;):)

It makes sense, yeah, I've got most reference pics from the modern one, but I've also found one with enough resolution of that original exhaust now that you mention it.
Also seems like the later one had a modified anti roll bar, that goes higher than the original, as well as the windshield. I guess I'll have to make it "unsafe" again since I'm going with the original exhaust and all :)

The higher rollbar in the "modernized cars" is forced by todays FIA HRA regulations, also seatbelts and a fire estinguisher.

But I´m very happy about your decision to do the orginal old times standard, in sims like AC we don`t need modern roll bars mounted on old cars... they make no sense, nobody can get hurt:)

The "unsafe" build gives us the true immersion like those cars and the tracks they were raced on always have been: unsafe;):)

what's with this guy :
http://assettocorsa.club/en/cars.html

No credit no link no nothing ?
and worse part is, i donated money for his launcher, which i'm pretty happy about
but how he shares all the cars (and tracks), i don't think that's nice to the authors, meaning all of us here. Even more when we state not to share outside RD.

i contacted him, but no answer :cautious:

He has source written in light grey in the right bottom corner, if that is enough for you?:cautious:

That's not the same person. x4fab is the author of Content Manager, owner of Assetto Corsa Club is a diffrent person. They did some mods together (Peugeot 504 for example), but that's it.

Same, was never keen on the Dallara being there but whatever. Very annoying, but as others have said its just inevitable when you make good models, everyone want to flog them.

That like the best site for mods , the guy who made content manager is partners with them ,
I agree they should add credits , but apart from RD , its best place ive seen for cars :D

Tons of ripped stuff though, not a huge fan of that really :roflmao:
Yeah that's the only thing that bothers me, seeing our scratch made stuff along with bullshit rips from Forza, but hey, it's the internet and that's how it goes. Personally I don't bother with any mods at all that aren't from RD (or modders' own websites)

Early 60s formula Junior, late 60s Formula Ford, RSS4, more Caterhams.... There's so much amazing stuff being worked on right now. Thanks to everyone for all the great content!

Spent all evening last night getting it to work in 3ds, but its getting pretty messy with all the moving parts. I'm also finding the skinned meshes are out of place ingame/kseditor compared to 3ds, only by a few cm but its annoying...
I wish I could offer some advice. It looks friggin' awesome though.

On a side note, can you use 3ds max bones system (if you thought it would be useful somehow) with Assetto Corsa's engine/environment?

Ahhh...Thank you very much for clearing that up for me. I never believed Assetto Corsa Club was entirely him, but I have always thought he was a 50/50 partner or something like that. It makes sense now... x4fab is one of the nicest, most honorable guys in the AC Community. If it were solely up to him, a quick note and I'm certain he would remove any artist's personal work, if requested. :)

Not sure tbh, I messed with bones for a while but couldn't quite get them working as I wanted. I think the way I'm doing it now is fine, given 2 out of the 4 corners was working great, just need to tidy it all up properly.

Found another 2 stroke dkw Formula Junior... a Hartmann
With a special appearance of legendary small car, in its time well known as "Porschekiller" - the NSU 1200TT. The TT was nearly unbeatable in hillclimbs and slaloms and real danger for much bigger and powerfuller cars on the Nordschleife and on rallye tracks. Just take a look at thsoe two beautiful open Weber Twin Carburators...
