AC Rookie Week | GT3 @ Spa - Sunday 5th November 2023

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Yep, it flat in all so far, some are a little difficult to turn them in, so with those you may have some track limit problems.
Plus some you have to be careful of the kerbs on the right, if you require that part of the track to limit track excursions on the left.
The Porsche is flat, but you need to get it exactly right. But it holds fifth flat and in some ways is the best here. We have fixed gears for some reason, probably as a lever against those cars with fixed gearing.
This has always been a problem corner, you need a reserve of down force , hence grip to make this corner fool proof. These Gt3 car are on the edge of that , do able, but not always easy to time it right for us normal drivers.:(

As I have limited practice I am not sure where I am losing time. Is Eau Rouge flat in these? I have been lifting at the bottom of the steep section...
Eau Rouge is flat but you need the correct line: take a lot of the first left kerb, a bit late apex very close to the right kerb (but don’t go on the kerb), then quite a lot kerb on the left (too much will unsettle the car and/or break the track limit), and lastly go wide on the right kerb if needed.

If thats not possible without lifting you may have a grip problem. Try reducing negative camber (default is too negative imho) and lower ARB. Rear wing setting should not be an issue for eau rouge as log as it is not close to zero.

As stated before I find the porsche the most unstable of the cars i tried.

I won't concentrate too much on Eau Rouge. From (close to) the pitwall on the right rush over the left curb, then directly to (not over!) the right curb, left curb, right curb and you are trough with full throttle. I lowered the rear wing at least for two steps on every car (even to minimum for the Michigan) to reach at least 260 km/h on the straight. Still no problem with full throttle in Eau Rouge.

But there is so much time to gain or loose in the corners (La Source, Bus Stop Chicane) and the combination of corners from Les Combes to Campus. It's the correct line, not the setup. I think, I still need hundreds of laps to make a big progress.
For tonight I will try to drive consistent and without big errors.

Yeah, it’s a long, tricky track with lots of corners to learn. Not making bit mistakes indeed is the most important thing for every race. One spin costs much more than loosing a few tenths each lap. But I can tell you, consistency is exactly the thing where I struggle most

John helped me with this corner when I was driving the nissan gtr gt3. Tried everything I could to get the thing to turn at the bottom of the hill. Every 10 goes I could just get it right without going out of track limits.
He told me to slightly lift at the bottom to turn the nose in, he was correct, lost minimal time, not as quick as flat, but in the scheme of things only a couple of 1/10ths at the most.

Great race this evening. It was also exciting with the different strategies. The Lanzo really doesn't start well. You have to take the qualifying result plus 2 or three. But great for driving. The RSS cars are just awesome. I'm curious to see what AC2 has to offer for the GT3's. Whether that gets there.

Great event as always on Sundays.
