AC Rookie Week | GT3 @ Spa - Sunday 5th November 2023

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
aaah yeah, worked, I just had to register again, thanks.

Super.
Well for me the porsche was really loose at turn in and mid corner. Especially les combes, fagnes and chicane. I did not spend a lot of time for setup, but each other car I tried was quicker and more stable at the first try. Then I spent some time with the M4 to tune the setup and I find it even more stable now then it was by default.
Entry usually an easy fix, or at least the easy method is, brake bias moved forward (higher percentage). That and braking earlier might sort the mid corner also. Extra click of rear wing if it's still tricky.

For rookies I would recommend the M4 or the Mercedes as you did. M6 is also fast but not that stable by default. I did not try the Lambo and Corvette.
Really looking forward to this event as Spa is my all-time favorit track
Ye the front engine cars are generally handier around here!

I like the Porsche, thought its top speed would be an advantage here, wrong, to get that top speed you sacrifice stability. Now I think an alien driver could achieve that goal, not me.
Tyre pressures, I go by the instrument panel, 27 is optimum so I have been told, you get that by, for my driving, 1 psi to the static pressure.
I was hoping for great things, with what is my favourite car, for me, great things it does not deliver,
I am always going back to standard setup. I am sure if I alter my driving style and come across a really good setup, this has so far eluded me, as with most 911 I drive.
Apart from the 911 RSR which is mid engine so you cannot compare that great car.:(

hi, I'm a rookie (not premium), can you please send the necessary links (discord, server & acsm password) to test, thank you

Hi,

You will see in the first post(as per below) you must add your real name to your RD profile. Please confirm you have read the event details, rules and regs in post 1 and 2. I will send you the necessary passwords then by PM.

Thanks,

Brian

All race department regular and premium members with their full real name added to their forum profile as well as in game and discord can sign up for this event.

Id like to join, of course.

EDIT: Do I have to purchase all the cars or just one?

Hi Edwin,

I will PM you the server password to get you going. Let me know when you decide on a car and I will make sure there is one there for you on Sunday!

Yes, as other have said unfortunately all cars are required to enter. On the plus side they are all really nice cars that have something different to offer from one to the next.

yes I confirm that I have read the details of the event, and I have just added my name to my profile

on the other hand, I asked to go and test first, you are not assuming that this is a registration, or is it ?

Hi Romain,

Thanks for confirming.

Yes and no! You are not truly registered until you let me know which car you will be driving for the race.

Seems more about seat time with this one that the setup. A few small clicks to tune it for the circuit.
When you mess too much with the setup you have to relearn the car. And when you setup the car to suit your driving style/issues, it leaves the question was the original faster and you just didn't give it the seat time! Round and round that goes! :D

hi, if it's still possible i would like to join the Spa GT3 rookie non premium event

The cars are a good choice. You can feel the different characteristics of each car. This is very educational.
During the first practices, I felt immediately comfortable with the Bayer V8, followed by the Michigan GTD.
The Porsche is special. I enjoy driving the 992 at the Nürburgring GP. But I'm having a bit of trouble at Spa.

The standard setups already seem quite good. At Spa, I mainly adjust the rear wing because of eau rouge and kemmel straight.
Regarding tire pressures, tools like Tyre Buddy seem not to work with the new URD physic model. For the RSS cars, tire pressure and camber already match well in the standard setup and the pressures only require slight corrections.

The kunos tyre app seems to work perfect with the porsche.
It suggests 26psi as optimum, with 27psi turning orange... This is about 21/22psi in the pits.
I have front brake duct at 0 and rear at 3. Front tyres are blue… but 75C core temp isn't bad. They tend to heat up to bluey green coming into the corner.

All these cars can go the distance on a single set of tyres and a 1 litre splash and dash strategy...

The first 15 minutes can be tough with the heavy fuel load. The safer strategy is to split the fuel 60:40.

The safest is to go 50:50 fuel and change tyres. The second half hour can be tricky on the single set of tyres, regardless of how you split the fuel.
