AC Rookie Week | GT3 @ Spa - Sunday 5th November 2023

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Can we kick out Romain...? He seems to be going for some kind of world land speed record.... just joking :D welcome romain and all the rest of the new drivers joining. great to see new folks here!

What a weird car the Mercedes is ??? you think this is a slow slug of a thing, the engine sound fantastic, but it feels more like a Sunday cruise.
After you look at the first lap time, you think how does that time make any sense.:O_o::O_o::O_o:
i thought the same thing. seemed to drive along like a tank, aside from the engine sounds, but turns in pretty decent lap times.

I do love the merc to be honest...
I think it's my favorite of these bunch. I like the look of the C8R just a little more, but the feel of the braking in the merc is some of the best I think i've driven in AC. Really makes the ABS in the GT3 class come alive. Before we had it in our rotation I was becoming tired of GT3s, but not anymore

Unfortunately for this week, I seemed to left my speed at home with the merc :(

For me, sadness in the passing of Kunos gt3 cars, I knew all these cars back to front and could swap them around at will for each circuit.
These are all new to me, as they are for everyone else, so I will just have to put the effort into them and try and get them to work. A finicky bunch they are too, so far I keep returning to standard setup.
The new tyre model and extensive setup possibilities seem to make this difficult, not sure that my old routes to simplified setups now works as well, if at all.:O_o:
These cars are more connected to ACC, and everyone knows that with these cars when you put AC knowledge into ACC cars you were doomed into slowing the car down.

The kunos tyre app seems to work perfect with the porsche.
It suggests 26psi as optimum, with 27psi turning orange... This is about 21/22psi in the pits.
I have front brake duct at 0 and rear at 3. Front tyres are blue… but 75C core temp isn't bad. They tend to heat up to bluey green coming into the corner.

All these cars can go the distance on a single set of tyres and a 1 litre splash and dash strategy...

The first 15 minutes can be tough with the heavy fuel load. The safer strategy is to split the fuel 60:40.

The safest is to go 50:50 fuel and change tyres. The second half hour can be tricky on the single set of tyres, regardless of how you split the fuel.

I probably won't have time to do a long practice, unfortunately. There's no mandatory pitstop, correct? I take it a full stint without a stop isn't optimal?

I hate to do it, its my least favorite thing ever, but I have to pull out. Just cant fork over the money at the moment. Damn money pit cars always needing something fixed burning a hole in my pocket.

Next time for sure.
On Thursday there's a Rookie event with the Mazda MX5. You will have those cars already, I guess.
