Bram:

members obviously like to talk about lap times in regards to preparation for a race, since it happens every time. It's not a competition, but part of the socializing that happens in a league. Why on earth would I brag about my 1:36 times otherwise? If it is not to be allowed in the race report thread, I suggest that the report thread remains closed until the race is completed, and we get a separate thread to discuss preparations.

I find it very annoying to always read those laptimes. It doesn't help people at all imo. Only scares off the less "alien" drivers from participating as they think you need to be extremely fast to compete in a league, which is not the fact.

For laptimes we have a leaderboard where all times are nicely displayed (yes also for the extremes): http://timing.racedepartment.com/race07/statsWTCCExtremeAllLaps.php

It can scare people off, but it can also motivate them to push the egde a bit more. I guess the information is there to be read for those who are interested. This thread shouldn't be a hotlap competition thread, but I'm fine with people keeping eachother updated on their preparations and progression.

I got to admit that it sometimes scares me off , I can never do the times that alien's do and I start thinking that I might get in everyone elses road, especailly if I'm 4-6 secs off the pace.

I can only dream of doing times like these:struggle:

Personally i can't be bothered about the position i finish a race. As long as i have proven to myself i gave the maximum from start to finish i am satisfied.

Don't be scared off Scott. Not all 25 drivers can drive at P1 during a race, and basically in every race 24 drivers are off the pace :)

Try to enjoy your racing moments and have a nice ride tonight :thumb:

It doesn't scare me off. It frustrates me, sometimes, though. I know my desire and enthusiasm exceeds my talents, so when I can't come close to those times, I want to rip my steering wheel off it's base. :joking:

I have trouble getting these cars stable enough where I will be confident I could even finish a race. I'm not giving up, though.

Just enjoy the race and the battles you get involved into as Bram said.
Every race there is ****loads of loosers and only 1 winner. If you enjoy your own race and give it your very best you can still feel a winner anyhow.

Thats what I intend to do every race anyway eventhough like many others I hate loosing especially if I don't live up to my own expectations or achieve the times I trained for. Not the case tonight shamefully, busy week no sleep no time no setup hell hope I remember the track :D Will be fun anyhow in the big field we got.

every one have a great race.

about the times, you just can see that how many work you still have to do. Or to set a goal what you can achieve in the race.

This evening im driving with a default setup. im still wrestling with my steering setup, i think it is also most important with these extreme cars.

so ill give it a try with steering on 50%, throttle at 35%, and brakes on 30%, deadzone on steering 1%. further standard setup for forcefeedback, settings GTR evolution.
and finally rotation on 360 degrees.

Enjoy.

certainly scott, don't worry too much about being off pace. take the last race at zhuhai, i was up to 5th or 6th place and then i lost it coming out of a corner and ended up plumb bob last, but i drove to the best of my ability and changed my pit strategy and managed 12th eventually.

i am 2-3 seconds off the aliens pace, but my car seems stable enough to do consistent 1:36-37's so i'm happy with that.

just do your best, and above all, enjoy it.

Dave

At the last round at Zhuhai I saw lots of quality driving from all the drivers who took part regardless of how quick they were or where they were running.

These cars in particular are very tricky especially if your setup isn't helping you, so just taking part and finishing is a very good acheivement and as has been said b4, it's your race to win with yourself.

Good luck 2nite to everyone and most importantly enjoy yourself:good:.

Indeed Philip. I am also not a hotlap driver (always start round place 13th in a 25 car grid). But because driving a consistent race with no major incidents i always finish round 6th place. And to drive a stable car is more important then a very fast car in a 60 lap race.

Have fun guys. :)
