Well time for my race report:).

During the week whilst practicing I was concerned about my chances of finishing this race as I was not getting on very well with this circuit. I was struggling to break into the 1:28's let alone into the low 1:27's and 26's that many of the competitive drivers were doing. As I worked on trying to stabilize the rear of the car especially on the exits of the corners the car and times became quicker. Eventually I was able to consistently run low to mid 1:27's and I was keeping the car on the island much better:good:.

Coming into the race meeting about 20 minutes before qualifying I managed a 1:27.2 which was the third quickest time, so I was happy that my pace was good enough to run near the front and if I drove carefully I could possibly take a podium away with me. As we were running a Super pole qualification I decided I would concentrate on keeping the car on track and avoid making a mistake and hopefully I'd be quick enough to be towards the front. I hadn't done much running with a low fuel load and as I did the lap it didn't seem particularly quick, but it was clean and accurate and I was happy. When I looked at the time as I coasted down to T1 I was shocked to see I'd beaten my PB time by 0.7seconds and set a time of 1:26.560:bulgy-eyes:.

I was even more surprised when I looked at the other times set that I had secured the Pole Position by 0.485 seconds from Michel Salvador.

The warm up consisted of a few runs and a couple of practice stops to make sure I had the pit entry and speed limit drilled into my head.

As we lined up for the Formation lap the nerves started to creep in. This was the first time outside of a club event that I would be starting from pole and only my second online rolling start. I kept my speed to the regulations and tried to make sure the field were almost all through the final turn. I had it in third and I blasted away and down into T1. I had a few car lengths in hand so I was able to be careful on the brakes to get a feel for the car on cold tires and full fuel. The first lap was clean and I was ahead by around 1.5 seconds. I got my head down and concentrated and the gap went to 3.5 seconds and fluctuated around that for quite a few laps. Laps 14 and 15 were a little lackluster and Johan Barlatier running in 2nd was closing in. On lap 16 I made my only error of note in the race. Going down to the chicane a braked a little too late. Instead of trying to turn in and spin or get on to the curbs on the exit and lose it I decided to get off the brakes and go straight on through the gravel and rejoin carefully after the exit. Johan was only 2 seconds behind when I made the mistake and as I was accelerating away after returning to the tarmac he drove by. I closed back in on him through the lap and as we went through the chicane again I was within a few car lengths. As we approached the next corner a car was in the gravel and making its way back to the track. The car turned out to be my team mate Dave Gardner and as we exited the corner Johan (possibly distracted by Daves car in the gravel) got high onto the curb and lost the rear end under power and I went back past to regain my lead.

Johan pitted on lap 19 and myself and Michel came in on lap 20. I took a full tank and all four tires in this first of two stops. As I returned to the track Johan passed by taking the lead. As I'd been about 6 seconds ahead before the stops I assumed that he'd only taken 2 tires and decided to take my time and see how his tires fared. Much to my surprise I was already back up behind him within 2 laps. I was braking later into most corners, but not close enough to make a safe pass or risk running into the back of him. I thought I'd just stay close and wait for an opportunity to come to me. At the end of lap 23 he got too deep into the last turn and I had to back out a bit to avoid hitting him as I was quite close before the corner. This allowed me to get partially along side and we had a drag race down to T1. I stuck my nose to the inside and Johan gently squeezed me onto the curb and I backed out to avoid contact. As I gave chase down to the chicane he got a little deep on the entry and onto the curbs on the exit and he lost the rear end as he tried to apply the power allowing me to drive by and back into the lead. Johan dropped away fairly quickly and I knew that he would soon be busy with Michel behind him, so I got my head down again and clocked off the laps to my next stop. I had one little scare on lap 34 running wide onto the curbs at T4, but I was careful not to apply too much power and avoided a time consuming spin. This time I pitted on lap 39 to avoid the risk of running the fuel too low. I took half a tank of fuel and rear tires. The car had been feeling great prior to stopping so I was confident that I wouldn't need all 4 changed. Michel also did the same a lap later and I returned to the lead for the final stint. This time I was able to extend my lead to around 15 seconds and then I was able to relax and reel off the final laps to the checkered flag:car:.

This turned out to be a very enjoyable race and a far better result than I could of dreamed in the week leading up to it. I'm very pleased that I was able to run a largely trouble free race which gives me confidence in myself that I can be quick and consistent and keep my concentration where it needs to be.

A big thanks needs to go out to the drivers receiving the Blue flags during the race as they were very aware of them and made getting through traffic a breeze. Well done guys:good:.

Also more importantly a big thank you to Steven Voss and Zerobarrier for giving me a drive in this series. I was very pleased when this league was announced as I feel I'm better suited to these cars than the S2000's. I'm not so aggressive with them and I hoped I would get the chance during the season to get my maiden league win. Now that I have I hope that myself and Dave can finish consistently in the points and maybe a place for the team in Division 1 next season.

Looking forward now to Barcelona for round 2.

Is there a chance to upload the Server Log Files for the Race, to strip out the data with the Autosimanalyzer Tool for myself?
Since there aren't any official results yet published (GPCOS or Forum), and I am interested in the race pace and pitstop strategy of the fast guys. :)

Not all the league drivers have registered themselves to our league management system i think.

Results are normally up the same day as the race but in this case it has to wait a little (probably next week i guess)

Uh there is apparently already one for division 2. How very strange that it has not been linked to here before.

Yoeri is away for the weekend

But don't worry. Issues regarding GPCOS will be dealt with after the weekend. The results will not be posted untill the teams and drivers have added their accounts. All will be in place.

If there are dire problems, please contact Bram Hengeveld.
