Absolutely brilliant race that.

Quali: Didn't go as fast as I previously have but was happy to take 15th on the grid.

Race: Got past the smoke on the grid and then overtook some cars who went off at turn 1. I found myself up in 8th with Ivo and Remco in front and Rhys and Stefan just behind. I dropped off Ivo's tail trying to defend and got little nudge in one corner but managed to hold it. Slowly pulled away from Stefan and Rhys and was onto the tail of Ivo. Lap after lap I was chasing him as we pulled away from the guys behind, however I just couldn't find a way through. The straights where I was faster, I was unable to pass as the corner wasn't suitable or Ivo was better on the brakes. We both got past Remco when he went off but Remco soon caught up and was on my tail. Remco went off again so it was just Ivo and I but I still couldn't find a way past. On one lap I got a great run on Ivo out of the last corner, pulled out to overtake and very nearly collided with the broadcast car. With a little over two laps to go, I misjudge Ivo's braking point and I ran wide to avoid but couldn't slow the car down well enough and had a slow-motion spin. Got going again and the very next lap, Remco span at the same spot and was just in front of me. I was trying hard to catch him but he span at the end of sector 2 on the last lap and I clipped the front of his car trying to avoid. Managed to get the car home in 7th which was much higher than I ever expected. :)

Thanks to Remco, Ivo, Simon, Simrace.tv, RD and all those that raced :)

It was a hard race. Was already becoming tired and then i saw the 30 min left message. :D

Q: 13th i think. Was hard to find a clean lap, so couldnt hit my times. But was oke.

Yeah about start i said already something. Then indeed a great battle with Adam, beauty of a fight for i think 22 laps. Had abit to much wing i guess, because the Skyline closed alot on the straight. Adam had some good runs on me in T1 and after the straight but managed to hold it everytime. Then we came across Remco in the chicane i think he spun or had contact with a backmarker dont know. Fighted off Adam again, couldnt get away from him it was crazy. Checked my car after the race if there wasnt a bungee rope on my bumper connected to his car. :D. Then i think in lap 22 i spun behind me and ended our battle. Must say the first thing i thought was not "ah shame" :D
But had Remco now on my tail but the same happened to him as with Adam. Dont know if it was my fault, braked at the same point as always. But got 6th at the end. Heard the broadcast was great. Cant wait to check it out.

A question for Simon, I guess...watching the broadcast of race 1 tonight I noticed that all the skins were really low-resolution. Is this because of limitations in the broadcast capability (bandwith, maybe) or some other reason? Anyway - it didn't spoil the racing and thanks for the great commentary.

Had great fun :)

The start of the race wasnt as good, I've never seen Simon's Camaro there, first time I saw a car standing there was after 2 laps and didnt realize it was Simon after 4 laps.
It can not always go as planned, this was a very unfortunate situation. THere is nothing we can do about it now. We have learned for next race and Im sure it will not happen again.

Back to the race,
Was having a solid pace in the first half of the race, was infront of Ivo and Adam and the gap generally stayed the same and was happy with that. But starting the 2nd half of the race, tyres was getting worned a bit and spun 4 times in total, all because of myself :). Could recover very quick from all of them and continued my way. That porsche bytes back if you make a slightly downshifting or braking mistake through corners :D
Was trying to catch Ivo and Adam, but with the spuns I made it was out of the question :)

Had great fun, cant wait for the broadcast replay.

Hmm this race leaves bad taste in my mouth not happy at all. I can live being taken out by a fellow racer. But its hard being taken out of the race by an stationary car on the s/f straight. This race should have been redflag and restarted imho. Such an anticlimax for me :(

Had a decent quali for an unexperienced driver like me (with rFactor). Unfortunately i was one of the guys that run into the RD car. So i started the battle from p23 :( I was hooping for a restart because of the car on the grid but that didn't happen.

I have battled my way to p 15 and that ok...

Not sure what to make of this race or this mod

First the race: Had a crap qual and got pissed off with the way the skyline really tortures it's tyres so i stopped early and went to grab a drink instead. It was a weird formation lap as the pink car behind persisted in passing me before turn one of the formation lap and then did not look to keen to give the place back and then spent the rest of the lap thinking about passing again .
Race was kinda dull, dodged a few spinners and botched overtakes, could of had a couple of good scraps but the tyres kind of stops that as they soon overheat to silly temps as soon as you try anything so you have to drive like you were taking your Grannie out for a Sunday cruise instead of enjoying a good race, bit like trying to run with a brick tied to yours balls, like you ain't going anywhere fast.

Love the way the skyline gets the power down coming out of a corner and it needs it as it is about the slowest in a straight line so the little head start there makes a world of difference, but if you start to try and push and make use of the cars handling then the tyres just overheat to temps over 140 degree within a couple of laps.
I wondered why race2play had a race distance of 50 minutes for this mod and after driving 2 races with these i now know why, 2 races and 2 punctures in the last couple of laps and i am not normally hard on tyres and the last check i had just before the tyre burst tonight my tyre wear in motec was only at 12 or 13 for the front left so it takes the shine right off a fun night. :frown:

Thats the downside of the Skyline, its harder on the tyres if you slide it to much then normal RWD cars.
Makes up the difference that the Skyline is the most easiest car to drive then the other cars.

ye i see they have tried to combat it with knocking a wee bit off the friction heating factor compared to others but maybe just not enough as this mod has about the highest friction heating factor i have seen for a while

Thats because they are heatcycles. And not full slicks. They are street/slick tyres.
But if they heat gets to much on the front, play with the torque split in the advanced setting and set it more to the back to rest the front tyres abit more.

been there done that n got the t-shirt and they still get too hot to make it real fun to drive, don't get me wrong i am all for pushing it to the limit but 2 punctures in 2 races just after the 50 minute mark is making me look a bit harder why

This was an enjoyable race for me although seeing all the carnage at turn 1 was a big disapointment after learning how it came about. I know mistakes can be made & thats ok but to penalise those involved with DNF's is not good. I think the best thing to do would be to null & void the race & do it again, maybe re-run it as the last race, so those who were involved, & some who's race was ended, has the chance to participate after all the hard work they have put it.

Back to the race, like Neil, I too had a puncture on the last lap, 2 corners from the finish line, but I think this was down to me pushing too hard after a spin mid race, but with my persistance to finish I crossed the line on the rim with sparks and smoke billowing from my poor car but it made it.

Thanks goes to Remco & Ivo for putting in all the hard work & bringing this league to us at RD. Thanks also goes to Simon for the commentary, can't wait to watch it, grts to Florian on his win, & thanks to all the drivers in the league.

The test race I was having a lot of issues with the wear, I had to pit twice because they wore so quickly. In the build up to this event, I just worked on keeping the tyre temperatures down. You need to make sure you got the correct pressures and your not overworking the tyres constantly else they will wear a lot. I managed to finish the race with 1.5 dots left on the front left tyre and that was the tyre that was wearing the most so it is possible to do 55 minutes without a puncture.
