RDGTC S3 - Round 1: Paul Ricard GT - November 21th, 2010 http://www.racedepartment.com/conte...ound-1-Paul-Ricard-GT-November-21th-2010/edit

Flyer by Can Ozcelik

The first race of the RDGT-C nears, sunday will see the opening round take place
at the Paul Ricard HTTT GT track where the mighty V8 and Turbo GT cars will battle
for the honours of the GT-C Crown.........

The suede clad Momo steering wheel tries to rip itself out of your hands as the
inside front tire bites the rumble stip at the apex of Virage du pont, back on the
gas, feeding it in, trying to balance the mighty Corvettes V8 grunt against the
sparse grip of the back tires. The shiftlights illuminate, yellow, red, blue and
you lunge at the shifter, up into third, then forth, the vette hurtles along the
straight, fith, sixth toward Verriere. Back hard on the brakes, down shifting for
the chicane, brake disc's glowing red hot and filling the air with the smell of
burnt carbon and hot rubber. You jink to the left, then right, clipping the apex
as the back of the car drifts round, then back on the power hard again. The
Skyline infont is getting closer all the time, keep pushing, your faster. Further
back in the field, Remco de Wilts Porsche is fighting door to door with a Mustang,
they have traded places five times in as many laps and the two cars both show the
signs of battle....

Stadlers Caddy had made an amazing start, driving right through the T1 chaos as if a 'Force field' had protected him! But now he had locked horns with Gardners GTO and the ensuing battle had begun to slow the two drivers as they made parry after parry, each tring to find the advantge or defend. This epic fight had slowed them enough for Lennons Aston to enter the fray, three cars abreast, they began to brake for the tight right hander 'Signes' but there was only room for one car on this line..........

This will be the most exciting RD GT Championship yet, the best GT cars, the best drivers, the best tracks and best of all you can watch it all live here at RD. Dont miss it!

Wow, I didn't know this league was being broadcast as well. Sweet, so I can show the world how much I suck twice this weekend. lol :)

Really need to find the time to do some laps today! I have yet to turn a lap of Paul Ricard.

In testing with Remco on the server last night, I was having trouble with understeer - it had been plaguing me ever since I started turning laps a few days ago. I was out of options, having tried spring rates, ride heights, roll bars and bump settings to fix the problem, and the fronts were heating up much faster than the rears (they still are - anyone have any idea why?). I decided to lower the front tyre pressures to about 200, leaving the rears as they were... it worked like a dream. The car is now much easier to drive, and I am comfortably turning consistent times without having to be on edge every lap.

It didn't make much difference to tyre temperatures, however the rears are not getting much heat into them as I explained earlier. If I can figure out how to transfer some of the heat in the fronts to the rears I'll be set.

Thre is no such thing as a specific correct rolling pressure - you can only surmise that via the middle temperatures - there is only a 'standing' optimal pressure (base pressure to remain flat on ground at zero deflection). So I can't help you too much there aside from say it's over 157kpa ;)

I can't get into the server named 'RDGTC - Paul Ricard' with either the standard password or the one in my GPCOS control center :S
I can get into the other server 'RD RDGTC Practice' no probs.
