Chris Jenkins celebrates his win at Brands Hatch

Race6-1.jpg

At the start of the England Grand Prix many expected the english drivers to dominate. But surprisingly only the McLaren rookie Chris Jenkins managed to live up to those expectations. He led almost the entire race and won by 11 seconds making it the second straight race where a rookie stands on top of the podium.
-Can I have my champagne yet?, he said over the radio on his way back to the pits.

Erik Tveit finished in 2nd place only 2 seconds ahead of Thomas Hackel in 3rd. But that battle could have ended a few turns from the finish as they made contact and Tveit went up on two wheels almost flipping his Red Bull car.

Omer Said continued his run of good finishes with a 4th place, moving him up to 4th in the standings with the same amount of points as 3rd placed Hiroshi Awazu, who finished 14th after some problems with his DRS system.

Peter Duivelaar and Danny Asbury had a long lasting battle for 5th, and it looked as if it would last to the finish. But when they went side by side through turn 1 on the second to last lap they tuched, resulting in front wing damage for Duivelaar while Asbury had the side of his Mercedes totaly ripped away. James Chant managed to take advantage of this and passed both of them to finish 5th. Duivelaar got 6th while Asbury just managed to hold on to 7th. This moved Red Bull Racing to the top of the constructors standings, 10 points clear of Lotus in 2nd.

Zeynel Babacan finaly managed to get his Sauber in to the top 10, Lotus rookie Bradley Vanian had his worst finish of the season in 8th and Scott Malcolm blew his engine

What's HOT!
The rookies - won the last two races.

What's NOT!
All the new technology that keeps failing - last in line was the updated DRS system on the Williams car of Hiroshi Awazu.

The next race is only a day away. We are going to Istanbul Park in Turkey for the home GP of Omer Said.
