Slightly delayed news about a Slightly Mad Studios product - Project CARS 3 is now available to the general public having released on console and PC Thursday 27th August.
  • PCARS 3 available on Xbox, PS4 and PC.
  • Over 200 cars and 120 tracks available.
At long last, following a brief early access period for people who pre-ordered the title, Project CARS 3 has finally released to the wider world - hitting real and virtual stores yesterday (Thursday 27th August) for both console and PC versions of the title.

Representing something of a departure from the original Project CARS franchise, the third instalment of the series places a greater focus on the customisation of both the car and game experience - moving away from the more simulation roots of the original games.

With a loyal fanbase of the original games having mixed feelings about the new direction on the build up to release, it will be very interesting indeed to see how well received the new title is over the coming days and weeks.

Well it’s obvious that you’re angry. I don’t think you’re being fair.

I bought it and I think it can be fun. It is not a pcars game or even as good as Forza/Grid/GTS. They made a shitty imposter of those games that pleased little people.

It is like having a sequel to a game you enjoy that they dumbed down many features, if not removed it.

I would say the driving is fun, it would be a nice gamepad game if they did not go on and butchered everything from previous games.

I created this account to fight in SMS's and PCars1+2 corner. But I have no interest in PC3 at all, knew it for a while now but it's just really sad to see the potential of the series wasted.

Apart from not wanting to affect AMS2 sales I just don't understand the reasoning behind PC3. SMS had a choice of going after Forza/GT fans or go driveclub/Forza Horison style. Looks like PC3 is neither......my gast is flabbered.

bought it, turned off all the on track "bonus" nonsense, setup on my triples, cranked the ffb all the way over, and, its better than pcars2 so far. Lots fo bugs though, but sure they will fix it up.
I did the same thing and on many aspects it is better than Pcars 2 and his bouncy erratic ffb.

As long as you stay in the limits the ffb is sim. You can feel the road bumps, the suspension work, the loss of contact of your tyres. As soon as you go over the limit (oversteer) the ffb becomes arcade.
So if you stay in the limits the FFB is superior to GTS or Forza (and Pcars 2) and it's a joke to compare it with NFS. Driving with a wheel in NFS is like driving with a pad. It's 1 on 1 adaptation from the pad to the wheel. By the way it looks terrible today.

The ffb is really great. It's a fun sim and the ffb is doing his job perfectly and on a sim side it is superior to Pcars 2's FFB.

Now to all the beggers whose throws argumentations like if it should be a pure sim game when it was not suppose to, all your posts are moot, which is 98% of this thread.

On many aspects it's a sim and on many aspects it is arcade.

For example i don't understand why when i set a personal race there is a normal pace and when i'm in multiplayer it's like speedy gonzales race.

What's wrong too with the multiplayer is that all races today happen in automn and it looks bad. Set up a personal race in a sunny summer in Oulton Park or Brands Hatch and you will see how it looks great.

I did not try it for now in VR.

And yes there are small bugs that need to be fixed.

They removed a bunch of things like pitstops, but kept the AI inconsistency (performance varies wildly, depending on track and weather, just like in pCars 2)... what a joke. Mostly recycled content, dumbed down gameplay, and they couldn't fix even that...

Don't dish out 60€ for this mediocrity. You're sending the wrong signal to-mod-Edit- SMS (lying about this being a sim, just trying to lasso sim racers in too). Get FH4 instead or whatever. Better graphics, more cars, gamepad.

As spending consumers we're also sometimes responsible for what kind of products we get in the future, and this is one of those times. Just vote with your wallets, no matter how desperate you're for a "new" driving title

It's clearly Shift 3, which is great. It is a pity that the project cars route has stayed in 2, but hey, there are other simulators ... It inherits many characteristics of those two games (Shift). Maybe they couldn't call it that because they were made under the EA label? Well, it's arcade but luxurious, with the possibility of racing with any of the countless cars on any of the numerous circuits from the start, without having to unlock anything, and it also has online events. For me it is sooo over the grid 2019. I still like the work of SMS, even if they confuse people a bit ... Well, the AI has seemed a bit absurd at times, I hope you correct it ... Greetings!

By the way i had laggies and it comes from the Vsync. Not the first time that i have this issue. Just desactivate the vsync. Now i have a lag from time to time but it's very rare.

You say that PC3 is better than PC2 in many aspects, but only mentions problems with PC3. In which ways is PC3 better than PC2 according to you? BTW, did you use Christiaans custom FFB files for PC2?

With my thrutsmaster I had to put the forces to the maximum in the game, but done this the handling is more than acceptable ...

Ah, there's a bug with cars, which sometimes turn transparent when they shouldn't, right?

For those who claim that this isn't a game "for the RD community". Do you seriously think we're judging PC3 by our very high....simulator standards? Do you seriously think that at this point we're saying all these bad things about PC3 because we're elitist and comparing it to ACC or iRacing or RF2? In the eternal words of Joe Biden....COME ON MAN.....

My judgement came after a fair comparison with SHIFT 2. Why SHIFT 2? Because Bell said that it's was going to be it's spiritual successor. Spiritual successor usually means "the same" or at the very least "very similar".
PC3 has nothing in common with SHIFT 2. In fact, it's worse because it doesn't manage to deliver on a single aspect that SHIFT 2 did.

Looks worse. Sounds worse. Drives worse (at least worse than modded SHIFT 2). Plays worse (like a mobile game). Has worse and less overall content. Well, at least in terms of RELEVANCE. By that i mean that as a SHIFT spiritual successor, it should have a focus on upgrading and customizing roadcars to a racecar level. It has neither.

The road car selection is poor and SMALL, and the only customization that you can actually see is wheels/tires and paintjob. Upgrades have no significant effect on the car either. It's there just to spend credits. And that's why there are RACECAR versions of each car in the game.
This is just ridiculous to even think about. Instead of using the same system as in SHIFT 2, they simply added a ready made RACECAR version or the same car. I'm sure they did it in order to make it look like the game has more cars now, which is shameless deception....and of course to avoid adding more road cars in the first place. Too much work.

The only thing that feels fairly familiar is the physics. Wobbly and bouncy , making direction changes a gamble because the weight transfer is over-exaggerated and a tire model which struggles to stay in contact with the road surface making things even worse overall. I could go as far as to say that they used the same physics and tires as in SHIFT 2 because the rear tends to slide a bit too much. Not as much as it did in the vanilla SHIFT 2, but it still does, more compared to PC2 for example.

My verdict is that compared to it's "spiritual successor"...SHIFT 2, it's worse, and i wouldn't even bother comparing it to anything better than SHIFT 2. It really looks like they just wanted to get this over with and get it out of the way. Like it was something, somebody FORCED them to make, like their F&F game....

If after all these years and all these overhyped and underdelivered products you still believe anything Bell says (or whatever his paid shills say, you know who you are), you deserve to be scammed. Sorry, not sorry. Move on, next please.
Especially that one guy who keeps posting screenshots with ultra-flattened resolution above...

What? No, nothing personal, really. :whistling:
