PC1 Pcars: A community divided

Continuation of Part 1: http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/banned-for-no-reason.47384/

Its hard to believe a game has taken a community over like this. Now with legal proceedings, its kind of become a joke for simmers. I have been at this a while now and have never seen a game invoke so much negative and positive reaction. May the discussions continue :)

Ps. While i continue to support pcars, i respect RD for allowing the freedom of expression to all its members.

Second warning within a few hours - this is your last chance before we'll have to do something else.
Let me rephrase that
He who smelt it, dealt it. Arschloch!

No seriously, I don´t think your phrase works. I have to do some research on that. English shares so many catchphrases with Germany, there must me something like it.

Excuse me? Didn't you realise we don't want to see such comments when I warned you for what you posted earlier today?

You said I should not entitle others. I clearly wrote that in italics to make it clear that it was meant as a phrase. Or did you say that the A word per se is forbidden.

Dude, seriously. You pretty well know that you insulted people and that I warned you for that. Keep it low or I'll do something for no obvious reason, seriously. If you're trying to stir up trouble: won't work.

I´m asking plain questions and right at the moment you are the only one who acts rather aggressively.

Even if I don´t believe that someone ever could misunderstand that: yes the first time I wrote "der größte A... im ganzen land etc." was a verbal slap for the one who denounced another member. Actually I would say that right in everybodies face who denounces anybody.
The second phrase was a rephrase and an attempt to tell that the A-word is missing (you know, the one I wrote in italics). So that was no insult nor was it meant as an insult. And right from the context everybody saw that.
So you gave me a warning for the first time I wrote the A-phrase. Fair and square.
The second phrase was an attempt of rephrasing it because we wanted to elaborate how we could rephrase the German phrase into English. So why acting like a bully here, Tom?

You obviously know that you were insulting others and that we won't accept this, I even warned you not to repeat that. However, you almost immediately took that quote and added another insult. Whilst I appreciate your attempt to shed light on how to translate that proverb properly we still cannot accept you posting swearwords.

Please find the response to your edit below.

I'm fine with clearing up verbal misunderstandings but you shouldn't post swearwords, nonetheless. I appreciate your efforts to clear up said misunderstandings but this doesn't necessarily mean that we can accept such posts, especially since there are heated arguments going on at the moment.

This doesn't relate to bullying you at all, honestly. Please play by the rules and everything will be fine.

Content that is false, harassing, or offensive is not permitted at our site. Our staff will remove these items as soon as possible and will take appropriate actions against the poster.

It doesn't have to be aimed at anyone to fulfill the highlighted article. I hope that cleared up the confusion, if there was any.

What I have noticed on 2 other websites is that there seems to be some very very harsh defensive measures taken when it comes to only one sim in particular....that sim is Project Cars.

I spend more time reading forums than playing haha, and I have been noticing over the past 2-3 months some VERY biased and a VERY defensive attitude of the website owners/moderators when it comes to any negativity towards only one sim. Project Cars.

I see lots of unusual stuff, like for example, people getting banned for things they would never get banned for if it were said in a non Pcars thread.

The sites that I have noticed these sorts of things (and other suspicious behaviour) are, nogripracing.com and virtualr.net.

I did some investigating and contacting people into this "gut feeling" that me and many others have had.

Well, get a load of this.

Apparently, the moderator of nogripracing.com (redi) works for SMS, and apparently Ian Bell is a moderator at nogripracing.com aswell (are you kidding me???). I also heard that the apparent owner of virtualr.net, Montoya, apparently works for SMS too now.

Basically, those 2 sites (and who knows what others) seem to be "controlled" by SMS. They even seem to have "special rules" just for the Project Cars forum/threads. It seems as if SMS is trying to take over all these great forum websites that we all know and love, and trying to control what is said about PCars.

I have never seen anything like this in my 8 years of sim racing and sim forum viewing. I have never seen any company/developer attempt to control or manipulate what can and cannot be said on these public forum websites, just so that they can control/filter out how much negativity is said about their product. It sort of feels like those future movies where the governemnt controls everything, and you have to make sure to "walk on eggshells" when it comes to discussing anything against their beliefs/motives.

What I and others, have seen/experienced with regards to biasing and the overall website control on those 2 websites, is frankly, well, distgusting.

Ian isn't moderator at NG. Maybe you mean the WMD forums? The 2 SMS guys gained a colored user name on NG when they were posting in the first pCars related threads (when pCars was still cool, so to speak :) ) , so people who don't know their names knew they were from SMS. He wouldn't have to moderate their anyway since other people spread pCars progaganda and ridicule any discussion that may include criticism towards pCars or SMS. They even adapted temporary forum rules for the pCars section.

What a joke, what a disgrace to all of sim racing period. SMS seem to be very greedy and only interested in making as much money as they can at all costs, even if it means employing and sending out "spies/agents" to all these forums in order to defend PCars at all costs, "take over" and "control" the threads of websites, "spread propaganda" about the product, etc

How could they even have the nerve to act like this??? It makes me pretty sad, it feels a city or something that's been invaded by a regime of some sorts that has overthrown the city and it's government and is just doing as they please and controlling everyone in the city. Controlling what everyone can say, what they cant say, making all these "special rules" just to suit and favour themselves etc etc etc

Almost like they are tryin to drive all the other sim companies out with their power, numbers, money and spread of propaganda, but drive them out in an indirect way where there is no way to actually point the finger at them.

It makes me sad.

I know who you are referring to (at least, I suspect).

I don't think this has nothing to do with Ian, Garton or Tudor. Or a few others. They're just doing their job and going about their business.

Some people gained access to WMD and assume a rather (unbelievable) aggressive posturing. This is harmful for SMS and pCARS in many ways, reason why I don't think Ian and the others have anything to do with this. My opinion, of course.

You know who has been at it (ridiculing others, as you say, and also outright insults). What is most incredible is this new development: if you quote the insults being thrown at critics and ask them to cease this, you become a target yourself - even if you fully support the project.

Baffling.

Anyway, the best thing is to avoid any form of communication with those people. Let them have it their way.

Marco, come on man. Is this Bollywood all of the sudden ?!
You're really just fueling the shitstorm right now.

Yes, some WMD members had very questionable behavior but you know it always takes two to tango.
A lot of people have been genuine a-holes to other people. Both sides are equally responsible for the mess.

But lets move on FFS ...

Well, it actually calmed down a bit in the last weeks. Just avoid the project if you don't like it... so

Yes, people really need to differentiate more. Of course regarding this project for example it's much easier to refer to SMS even if you just don't support the projects direction. I find these 2 guys are reasonable so it's kinda sad if they may avoid places like RD due to conflicts created by others.
