At the second race of the LMS at Spa-Francorchamps, the two main contenders for the "24h du Mans", Peugeot and Audi, had the last chance to measure their strength before the race of races, one month from now.

Peugeot won a wet race that also had an electrical failure that stopped the show for some time.

The race started really badly for Audi, who lost the first R15+ in the formation lap. The poleman, Pedro Lamy, spun while Oreca's and Rebellion Racing Peugeot 908 crashed and had to abandon the race.

Franck Montagny commanded the race followed by Marc Gené, meanwhile Lamy started to push until he reached the 3rd place. Three Peugeots in the first 3 positions.

But Audi had another strategy, less fuel and less tyre wear, so less pitstops... and it worked, Tom Kristensen was suddenly on first position until the electrical failure that forced the red flag.

At the restart under the rain, the Danish could not resist the attacks of the two Peugeots and was overtaken by Simon Pagenaud, the final winner, and Frank Montagny.

Miguel Amaral y Oliver Pla, won the LMP2 category.

Gabriele Gardel, Patrice Goulesard and Julien Canal were the winners on GT1, with RD and STC Black Visor Motorsports driver Fernando Rees and his teammates crossing the line in 4th position of this class.

Great endurance racing, just like Spa very much... GT's & LMS really are like "fish in the water" there.

The race was very interesting, had a bit of everything, incidents, rain, even some odd things like people going back to the 60's using pen & paper to take times (no power and no back-up generators for a time) :D

Being a sort of "Lusitanian" obviously I'm glad with the final overall and LMP2 standings. But always keept s my eyes out for a certain SR7... If all goes as planned I will be folowing all this live next 16/17 of Jully :)

Troy Bayliss exceeded all expectations when he completed his scheduled two day test at Mugello this week onboard a development Ducati 1198.
On day one the three time WSB champion completed 60 laps in fully wet conditions posting consistent 2.05 lap times.

On day two Bayliss surprised himself and his former crew chief and current Xerox Ducati team boss Ernesto Marinelli by smashing the unofficial Superbike lap record around Mugello with a 1m 51.9s best.
The lap time compared favourably to the previous best lap of current Ducati rider Michel Fabrizio who posted a 1.52.6 in April this year.

Speaking to MCN from Mugello, Bayliss said:
“We had a full day of rain on day one but still did some really good times given the conditions. The second day was dry and I went over a second faster than I’ve ever been around here on a race tyre.
"It’s the fastest anyone has ever been around here on a race tyre. I did a 1.51.9 which is pretty good.”
Bayliss’ stunning testing form confirms that he clearly still has the raw speed to compete, making the possibility of a comeback even stronger.

I see Bayliss hasn't lost any of his speed.......

so did the driver get out before the fire then?

Yes. This is what Young Driver GT1 team had to say.

A terrible crash by Bartocci in car #22 in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Cup has cancelled all racing for now at Brno. Luckily a Aston Martin Racing technician took matters into his own hands as he pulled the driver out of the flaming car - Thankfully he just confirmed to Young Driver AMR Press that Bartocci had open eyes and looked around before he passed out in the hands of the paramedics.

Heres the full crash.

And also.
