The race in Mexico will be cancelled, a reserve event will not be held until before the Japan race, so pretty much at the end of the season:

10 Mar 2010

The FIA, in agreement with promoter KSO, decided to cancel as a case of Force Majeure the second race meeting of the 2010 FIA World Touring Car Championship scheduled to take place in Puebla, Mexico, on April 11th.
The FIA’s decision is based on security reports from the region and follows close consultation and guidance from OMDAI, the Mexican National Sporting Authority.

About the possibility to replace the Mexican event, KSO general manager Marcello Lotti stated: “No decision has yet been taken. We will think about it, evaluate the different opportunities and decide before the next meeting in Marrakech. As a matter of fact we are not looking for a replacement on the same date of Puebla, because there would not be enough time to organise the event properly with an appropriate promotional campaign. If there is a replacement, this will take place in the gap between Valencia and Okayama and, therefore, would be somewhere on the way to Japan. However we could very well stay with eleven events.”

I am wanting to find out a bit more about the SCCA by talking to someone, I have a few questions about the cars that are allowed and how some of the events work. If anyone here is a member or former member I would love to talk to you either in this thread or via pm's.

Thanks

Valentino Rossi dazzles under Qatar floodlights

Reigning MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi continued his phenomenal pre-season form in Qatar tonight.
The Italian ended the first night of the penultimate test under the Losail International Circuit floodlights with a best time of 1.55.402 to finish over 0.3s ahead of the field.

The Italian said: “I am so happy today because this isn't one of our best tracks and to come here and be fastest shows what a great job Yamaha has done with this new M1.
"To start with the track was quite slippery but anyway we were still fast, and as the track started to improve I felt better and better.

"We are quite competitive and this gives me a good feeling, and I was happy to make this quick lap right at the end.
"We still have to decide the right tyre and the best setting for it, and we will keep working on the electronics but the most important thing is that we're faster than last year!

"Tomorrow we will continue with our work and try to finalise everything before the race."
Rossi has now been quickest in each of the five days of winter testing so far with Australian rival and Qatar specialist Casey Stoner having to settle for second again.
Stoner, who has won the previous three races in Qatar, clocked a best time of 1.55.717 but the 24-year-old was satisfied having logged his best time on old Bridgestone tyres.

Performance of the night though was easily registered by reigning World Superbike champion Ben Spies.
The 25-year-old topped the timesheets briefly in the six-hour session that ran from 6pm to midnight and eventually ended up third quickest.
Spies has previous experience of the Losail International Circuit but had never ridden under the spectacular floodlights before tonight.

A best time of 1.55.594 though saw the triple AMA Superbike champion finish just over 0.2s adrift of Stoner and a massive 0.6s clear of Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team-mate Colin Edwards.

It wasn’t an entirely trouble free night though for Spies who did have his first Yamaha YZR-M1 crash when he lost the front end at Turn Two with 50 minutes remaining.
Spies was testing a new hard compound Bridgestone front tyre he didn’t like, but had gone back out to check its performance with revised pressure.
But he escaped unhurt save for a small loss of his skin on his left forearm and he said: ““I know this track from last year but riding under the floodlights is definitely a bit different and nothing I’ve experienced before.
"The perception of speed is much faster with it being at night but I’m having a lot of fun.
"It’s really well lit up but there are a couple of darker spots on the track that you have to get used to but I’ve not done too bad in adjusting to the lights.
"I know the track but any track I go to on a MotoGP bike makes it definitely different because of the lines you take.
"Some of the lines I’d take on the superbike just don’t work but I felt like it was coming together good and following a couple of people it felt like I was doing more of the right things than I was in Malaysia.
"Obviously it is great for me to be high up the timesheets but I’m still taking baby steps to improve. The crash was nothing too serious. I was running the hard front and I wasn’t getting a good feeling from it.
"We changed the pressure to try and help for my second run but I just lost the front at the second corner. But to be third is fantastic.”

Edwards was fourth ahead of LCR Honda rider Randy de Puniet with the returning Jorge Lorenzo down in seventh place.
The Spaniard was back in action for the first time since he broke his right thumb in a training accident last month.
Lorenzo struggled in the hard braking zones and was riding with a specially modified Dainese glove on his way to posting a best time of 1.56.838.

The double 250GP world champion said: “It's really good to be back on my bike and actually when I went out on track the first time today my hand felt better than I had expected.
"The pain has decreased a lot in the last few days and I've been doing a lot of physio to make sure I'm in the best possible shape for this test.
"I was able to do quite a lot of laps today and my time is not so bad in the end, it's definitely interesting and important to be here and see our level after missing the last test.
"Dainese have made me a bigger glove and I have some protection on the hand; changing direction is okay, it's just the hard braking areas where I have some problems. I need more practice but I think we have made a good start."

Another big shock was the continuing dismal form of Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa.
The Spaniard could only finish the previous test in Sepang in eighth place but suffered a torrid first night in the Middle East.
The triple world champion could only finish with a best time 1.57.047 that left him 10th and a massive 1.6s behind Rossi.
For long periods of the session, Pedrosa was down in 15th place as his struggle to adapt to Ohlins suspension continued.

Casey Stoner ends 2010 pre-season on top

Casey Stoner ended Valentino Rossi’s domination of the 2010 MotoGP pre-season campaign with an impressive display on Ducati’s factory GP10 machine in Qatar tonight.
The Aussie slashed 0.4s off his best time from the opening night to dominate the last track action before the new season kicks off under the Losail International Circuit floodlights on April 11.

A best lap of 1.55.353 on his 34th lap of a 51-lap stint put the 2007 world champion a massive 0.507s clear of Fiat Yamaha rival Rossi.
It wasn’t a completely smooth night though for the 24-year-old, who is chasing a fourth successive victory in Qatar at the first race next month. Shortly after 9pm as the humidity increased, Stoner crashed heavily at the second corner.

In the previous hour Ben Spies, Colin Edwards and factory Ducati team-mate Nicky Hayden had all crashed in identical circumstances at the same corner.
All but Edwards blamed moisture on the track as a result of the balmy conditions but Stoner walked away unhurt. Remarkably it is the third successive winter test at Qatar that he crashed at the second corner, but his time was less than a tenth quicker than Rossi’s best on the opening evening.

For the first time in 2010 winter testing, Italian Rossi had to settle for second place on board his factory Yamaha YZR-M1. The 31-year-old posted a best time of 1.55.860, which was over 0.4s adrift of his best time on the opening night.
The reigning world champion said: “This has been another good day. We've concentrated mostly on the race preparation and it feels like we're now ready for the first race. We did a long run at the end of the session and we got some good information, which will help us in the race.
"Now that testing is over I am very excited about the season. We've been strong throughout the six days of practice and it feels good to have been fast here also, where we have struggled in the past. We have only tested at two tracks so we need to wait for another different one to fully understand the new bike, but we're in good shape. My M1 feels great and I'm looking forward to racing.”

Honda got some welcome respite from a mounting list of problems with its factory Honda RC212V machine. Andrea Dovizioso was third quickest with a best time of 1.55.879 to end up just 0.019s slower than Rossi.
The 2009 British GP winner was a full second quicker tonight as he tried a modified chassis for the first time on his RC212V machine.

Hayden shrugged off his second corner crash to log the fourth best time and continue his resurgent form on the factory Ducati GP10.
The Kentucky rider was 0.7s faster than yesterday and less than 0.3s away from Rossi.
Hayden also escaped unhurt when he was the third of the Turn Two victims at just before 9pm.

Loris Capirossi used a new GSV-R chassis to steer his factory Suzuki to fifth place with Jorge Lorenzo a respectable sixth quickest on his return from injury.
Still suffering pain from the broken right thumb he suffered in a training accident last month, the Spaniard clocked a best time of 1.56.504.
The double 250GP world champion said: “Today my hand felt okay, maybe a bit worse than yesterday. Of course it's not as good as before the accident but this is to be expected! It's hard for me in the braking areas and I can't push any harder than I have been today at the moment, but I hope it will have improved a lot by the time of the first race. Our bike is great,
"Yamaha have done a fantastic job and you can see this from the strong performance of all the Yamaha riders. We've done a lot of work and tried many things, so I hope that these will help us when we come back here in three weeks. I will keep working to strengthen my hand and I hope to be in much better condition by then."

Monster Yamaha Tech 3 duo Edwards and Spies had a tough night. Neither could improve their times from the first night and they ended eighth and tenth respectively.
Both were fortunate to escape injury in high-speed crashes at the second corner.
Spies, who also crashed at the second corner on the first night, said: “I didn’t have a great night really but that can happen. Everything that could go wrong went wrong tonight. But I’ve have had a great winter and this was the first session where it didn’t go the way we wanted it to. I’d had some small issues early on and went into Turn Two again and just lost the front.
"I wasn’t really sure what happened but then four people crashed in the next 30 minutes so it must have got really humid really quick because something wasn’t right with that many people going down in the same place. I did a few more laps to clear my head and got down to some decent times and I’m happy I did that. But it was still a successful test and I leave confident that I’ll be competitive for the race next month.”

Fellow Texan Edwards said: “It wasn’t the ending to testing I was looking for but it wasn’t too bad. I just didn’t really have a great feeling with the bike tonight and we need to have a think about things before we come back for the race next month. We’ve got some work to do because I just didn’t feel as comfortable on the bike as I did last year, mainly with the front-end. And I know I go good at this track because I had a good race last year and finished fourth. I’m not sure what happened with the crash but I did exactly the same as Ben.
"I was on the soft front tyre that I’d not really run that much on the first night. But I was on my sixth lap on the tyre, so it should have been ready to push. But I was down before I knew it and it is a fast crash, even if you’re only still in second gear. I’m just glad I didn’t get hurt because that was a fast crash.”

Dani Pedrosa’s awful form continued as the Repsol Honda rider was left languishing down in 13th place. He was beaten by Aleix Espargaro and Suzuki rookie Alvaro Bautista as his struggle to adapt to Ohlins suspension showed no signs of improving.
Pedrosa could only produce a best lap of 1.56.935 to finish a massive 1.582s away from Stoner.

The fortunes of former world 250GP champion Marco Simoncelli continue to plummet as well. The San Carlo Gresini Honda rider was down in last place with a best lap of 1.57.379. That left the Italian 2.026s slower than Stoner. And already bereft of confidence after massive crashes in successive Sepang tests in February,
Simoncelli’s fragile morale took another bashing when he crashed at Turn Six tonight.

Dutchman Robert Doornbos is the latest signing for the 2010 Superleague Formula as he joins Brazilian club Corinthians. Doornbos already has a lot of experience driving in Superleague Formula after his campaign in 2008 with AC Milan.
Besides that he has driven in A1GP, Formula 3000 and ChampCar, but also in Formula 1 with Minardi and Red Bull Racing.

“After evaluating many options for 2010 I decided to accept the offer from Wim Coekelbergs of Azerti Racing to race for Corinthians in Superleague Formula. Azerti has a very very strong team in 2010 and it is an honour to race for one of the most famous soccer clubs in the world. After one year in the USA I want to win races again. I like to state that my adventure in the USA is not over yet. Superleague Formula is very competitive in 2010 with many (ex-)F1 racedrivers. I am really excited by this opportunity and look forward to the first race in 2 weeks time. I like to thank Azerti for their confidence in my driving skills and the sponsors who keep on supporting me in 2010 (ING, E-Factor, Red Bull, Playboy, Flogs.com).

The Corinthians car will be prepared and run by Belgian racing team Azerti, which has been there from the very start of Superleague Formula and already collected a lot of podiums and victories.

Team manager Wim Coekelbergs is excited about his new driver : “I am very happy to have Robert in our ‘family’ and I’d like to thank him and his management team GR8 Industries, especially Lodewijk Varossieau, for the faith they have in our team. We will do everything we can to come up with great results for the Corinthians football club, as well as Robert’s loyal fans and sponsors.”

Craig Dolby double as Spurs score near perfect weekend

04/04/2010 Tottenham Hotspur’s Craig Dolby marked himself out as the man to beat in this year’s Superleague Formula by Sonangol after adding a Super Final victory to his race 1 win in the opening round of the 2010 season at Silverstone.

Dolby’s display for the London club not only netted two race wins, but also the championship lead and a prize fund of €100,000 after a near-perfect weekend at the home round of both driver and club.
In the five-lap Super Final for the best six performers from the weekend’s two feature races, Dolby started on pole position but was beaten off the line by the fast-starting Alvaro Parente in the FC Porto car. Parente’s lead didn’t last long however, as a scruffy opening lap saw him go wide twice and drop to the back of the pack.

Parente’s slide down the field left Dolby clear to win from FC Basel’s Max Wissel with Olympiacos’ Superleague Formula debutant, Chris van der Drift, a fine third. Race 2 winner Sebastien Bourdais, of French club Olympique Lyonnais, was fourth while Parente rescued fifth for Porto ahead of Atletico Madrid driver John Martin.
Earlier, in the reversed-grid race 2, Bourdais survived a slow pit stop to score Lyon’s first ever Superleague Formula win, making up for the disappointment of a frustrating opening race where a stall in the pits cost him the chance of a podium.
This time a sticking wheel gun during his mandatory pit stop wiped out the comfortable lead the Frenchman had pulled out in the first half of the race after passing Liverpool’s pole man James Walker at the start. He rejoined in third behind Galatasaray and Olympiacos and made short work of passing both before streaking clear to a comfortable 9.5 second victory.
The impressive Van der Drift marked his first ever Superleague Formula weekend with second place and qualification for the Super Final for Olympiacos, but Tristan Gommendy missed out on a podium for Galatasaray as he had to serve a drivethrough penalty for making his mandatory pit stop one lap before the pit window had opened.
The Frenchman’s misfortune was good news for Atletico Madrid’s Australian driver Martin, who picked up third after a strong drive from seventh on the grid.
After starting from the back of the reversed field after his race 1 victory, Dolby once again flew the flag brilliantly for Tottenham Hotspur. He made up six places on the first lap and charged through to fourth at the chequered flag to put himself top of the first Superleague Formula league table of 2010.
Parente was a solid fifth for FC Porto ahead of FC Basel’s Max Wissel, Corinthians’ Robert Doornbos and Franck Montagny of series’ newcomers Bordeaux. Marcos Martinez (Sevilla) and Davide Rigon (Anderlecht) completed the top ten.
Liverpool made the worst possible start to their title defence as James Walker posted a second DNF of the weekend after retiring midway through the race. After spinning out of third in race 1, the Jersey driver was running strongly again in second place in race 2 when another spin saw him drop to the back of the field before pulling into the pits to retire with a mechanical problem after ten laps.

SL-Formula

Both championships had their opening rounds at Oulton Park at Easter.

F3 has a new 3 race per round, and both GT races take place on the race day (as opposed to 1 on quali day, 1 on race day).

Some french dude won 2 of the 3 F3 races, Eric something or other...i cant remember his name, where as both GT races won by the #2 Ferrari. Defending champions in the Ascari retired from both races, im guessing due to some fuel issues suffered in race 1. The Dodge Viper crashed in Qualifying and thus missed both races.

I have got some of the action in my photos:

Todays action (monday) is not online yet..will be soon i hope :)
