I'm having problems downloading this. It saves as a win.rar file under the packages folder, but when I go to the ModManager and select the "show all" option, nothing on Snetterton is there.

A RAR file is an archive, not an rFactor mod file. You need to unpack the archive contents to the Packages folder using WinRAR or a similar tool.

From those screenshots the quality looks incredibly poor. I'm assuming this track is converted?
No it's not a conversion. Its scratch built from the ground up.

I am interested to know what you guys think is poor quality? I know there are quite a few textures that need finalising, but I'm not sure where the main focus is here. Please don't hold back, I thrive on criticism. This whole project has been a learning experience and I'm not finished learning yet, if something is not right, let me know and I will fix it (well I will attempt to haha). :)

I think it's more regarding the integration of the objects around the track (Buildings, billboards, etc...) than anything else :)

Also, I think it feels a bit too "clean"... For example, check out Oran Park LIDAR for rFactor 1, that's what I mean. Otherwise it seems great :p

The track itself is a great drive. I think the term Poor Quality has it's origin in the buildings, and stuff beside the tracks.
F.i. If you look at this screenshot:

SearspointRW05.jpg

The trucks look like square blocks, and that's a bit under expectations from a game which is released in 2012 ;). Also, I noticed there are some cranes standing next to the course, which seem like toys for a little kid :) Sqaure blocks, combined to a form which is definatly recognizable, but graphicly not highstanding.

But once more, it's a great track to drive! When I drive, i do not look at surroundings, so actually, I do not care so much about it ;)

Thanks for the feedback, very much appreciated. I shall get onto those building's and the trucks. The cranes are forklift thingy's with PA speakers hanging from them. It is a pretty low poly model too, I could improve it a bit more.

The track 'smoothness' I have to go back through a video I have of the track and sort the bumps out. That was/is on the todo list. I had all the bumps in there to start with when I was working on it for rf1, but somewhere along the line they got lost. ( I think it was when I had to make the track narrower which was a pretty big job and when averaging things out it smoothed a lot of the bumps away)

About "stretched". When I was researching this, I checked out a few existing rf tracks and they all seemed to have the same problem being they had been traced from google earth. The problem with that is that the satellite is taking the picture of this track at a steep angle and that makes inclines and declines look like corners, but when you look at it from pictures of different angles, you can see all these corners don't actually exist. So I had to do a bit of stretching and shifting of the overhead picture to get it to sit correctly.

Thanks again for the feedback. It has been very helpful :)

Cheers!

Wow, I see the night lighting issue is sorted now! Great to see the latest screenshots.

I have high expectations for this one. The way he does the road edges is unbelievable! Really nice.
